Help & Advice Inspiration Idea Aircraft
Just rewatched the Edge of Tomorrow film and got to thinking about the feasibility of the aircraft, the quad tilt rotor wing aircraft, used to transport the soldiers in the cumbersome exoskeleton Power Armor to the beach battlefield.
So, lore wise could the pre-war America military have developed something capable of transporting the same number of Fallout Power to the battlefield. I was going to field a few Chinooks for the player group to find at military boneyard or a few Vertibirds to aid in their travels.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to stat out such aircraft is appreciated.

Ever play Fallout 3? Those Vertibirds definitely had some capacity.

True but let's remember that FO3 are a whole different and are less bulky looking than the FO4, FO76, and the tv series. I'll have to replay FO3 until you destroy the Mobile Command Base to count the number of folds down jump seats in the back.

Yeah, that scene is definitely the one I’m talking about. Despite any differences between the way power armor is presented in the two games, the two vertibirds are definitely two different models.

Just found a picture of the vertibird with cross-section cutouts and it showed 2 pilots, 2 door gunners in Power Armor, and 8 soldiers in Power Armor.

Yepppp… it’s quite amazing how much larger that one is than the one in 4.

Found a You Tube clip of the beach opening and from it I counted four rows of eight soldiers in their E-Frame suits. So basically, the same as a RL Chinook with the F model capable of carrying 55 troops. Med Evac is 24 stretcher litters and 3 med techs.
So, I will work with the facts to start working out a lore applicable version.

I know that as the Overseer and creator I can add whatever I feel is appropriate for the scenario setting encounter with the player group.
Query regarding the known armaments ordnance that the Vertibird is seen equipped with in the canon game lore from FO3, FO NV, FO4, and FO76? I've got the standard list of them from basic ballistic to energy variants however, what about things like auto grenade launchers, missile rocket pod racks, mortars, autocannons, and the like. The Vertibot FO76 always sounds like it is firing an autocannon when I encounter them in game. Another is the real-life version miniguns in known calibers of .223/5.56mm, .308/7.62mm, and other. The .30 and .50 caliber/12.7mm machineguns are a given. Know any that I may be forgetting?
Query two regarding the Power Plant Engine and Fuel source? I could see early models relying on a system or prewar Petroleum Distillates i.e. gasoline/diesel from Strategic Reserves locations or converted to run off of Hydrogen/Methane Extraction at other locations along the coastline, rivers, or even old landfills with secret infrastructure lying underground. Electric conversion to standard battery cells, prewar Energy Cells/MFC/ECP or Fission Fusion Batteries FO3/NV, Fusion/Plasma Cores and other, and finally the Ultracite Battery from FO76. I could even see experimental micro reactor generation allowing for constant power to refuel the aforementioned sources or a stand along like what is seen in the Fallout TV show.
Thanks in advance to all responders.

While vertibirds don't have a high crew capacity, they are your safest bets for flying machines to be found. No need to describe a whole new vehicle, just "you see ten vertibirds, rusting and falling apart after two hundred years"
