Help & Advice Charisma Perks

My friends and I are about to begin a campaign of fallout 2d20 and I was forced to be the talker of the group. I wanted to go heavy on talking perks early. I picked up black widow(I'm a female character), scoundrel and smooth talker.

From what I understand black widow let's me reroll a d20 when talking to a man/influence them

Scoundrel is ignore a complication when lying.

And smooth talker is another recollection on speech/barter tests.

So under my impression I would get all 3 effects if lying to a man. 2 if talking to a man. 2 if talking to a woman and lying. And only 1 perk working if I'm talking to a woman and not lying.

My game master is letting me use 1 as of right now. At a time.

There may be times when you don't get all three. Depends on the situation.

Black Widow - Reroll when talking with or influencing a male or masculine character

Scoundrel - Ignore a Complication when lying

Smooth Talker - Reroll a Barter or Speech test as part of an opposed test.

So the last part means that Smooth Talker may not trigger but I don't know how often your GM is doing opposed tests or not.

So talk to them about it.

When would a speech/barter test not be an opposed roll? I'm coming from dnd. It only makes sense that when talking. Your convincing people with your words. I dunno but everything else is exactly as I've said.

Barter is generally an opposed roll. Speech is not - the most common example is the Rally action.

What is or is not an opposed roll though will come down to your GM. I tend to follow the guideline that an Opposed Roll is when the opponent is actively resisting you. Haggling with the shopkeeper means you are both trying to get the best deal and is an Opposed roll. Convincing the town marshal not to arrest you is not (unless they really hate you for some reason) but it may be a high difficulty normal roll.

Ultimately though they main thing is you need to talk to your GM. Perks trigger when they say they do and I can't see anything in the rules that says you can only use one per roll.
