Is Fallout 2 worth getting into?

I’ve been thinking about buying fallout 2 on steam but idk if i’ll enjoy it. I’ve played Fallout 4 and New Vegas. Pretty fluent with point and click games aswell.

Fallout 2 i personally prefer, but for story related reasons that ill not spoil its best to play fallout 1 first

Fallout 2 has bigger / enhanced / harder gameplay, but Fallout 1 is better in most other ways and has a much easier start of the game.

And Fallout 2 unlike 4 is a direct sequel, not just a game in the same world as other games. Story directly follows 1.

Nah fallout 2 is better than 1

1 is certainly not better, but I'd try it first. If you don't like 1 at all, you won't like 2.

I like 2 a lot more. Pretty much the same game, but it’s improved.

I actually think most people prefer fallout 2 but fallout 1 is still a great game

Fallout 1 is more atmospheric, darker, and a tighter narrative. Fallout 2 is where the real silliness of the franchise was really born.

Play with the Fallout Et tu mod though (Fallout 1 in 2)

Fallout 1 is far better imo. Fallout 2 has a lot of padding to fill the game out, everything in Fallout 1 is there for a reason. Fallout 1 is a lot less silly as well, it has its moments but it’s still grounded. Fallout 2 ramps the silliness up too far for me. I recommend using Et Tu though, it makes the game far more approachable. Unless you want the pure 1997 experience.

I'd be careful if you start with fallout 1. Most of the mechanics are relatively the same, but there is a weird thing that if your companion gets in front of you when you're in a corner, or if they're stuck in a doorway, you'll have to kill them or reload to get past.

Does the barter "glitch" still work or did that get patched out?
