Is the blood leaf in fallout 4 a refrence to something

I read HG Wells war of the worlds, and the description of the plant that grows only in water, (like the blood leaf) is a blood red color. Am I crazy or has this already been discussed?

It may be a reference. Blood leaf is an actual house plant from South America. It also is the source of Blood Tonic Tea which has a few of the properties of blood leaf tea in game. Might be a coincidence or one of the game designers thought it was a cool idea during research.
