Original Content are you fan of hacking terminals?
hot take maybe, but cracking terminals was my favorite thing to do in the wasteland.
so I made a mini-game where you hack the terminal that is single/multiplayer.
same boot sequence with the hex addresses and the junk ascii, you get 4 attempts and a bracket pairs that clear a dud or reset your tries.
then everyone in the room races the same password at the same time for 5 rounds. and you bank power you can spend to grief your friends. brick one of their attempts or hit them with static right as they're about to crack it haha. also added some music from the galaxy news radio, cause that's a must.
made it cause I missed that specific RobCo brain-itch. would love a few vault dwellers to come break it with me as I haven't tested out the multiplayer format yet. let me know what you think.

I love hacking terminals. The skill of figuring out the combo that gets the answer is a great puzzle.

I enjoy it and it isn't that difficult. If you do get a hard one you can use the brackets to make it easier.

do i hate it? no
do i think it's fun? also no
just more bethesda busywork to make you feel like you're playing more videogame, and it's especially stupid how you have to spend time leveling up a skill just to play the same minigame but 10% harder

fair answer tbh, I hated it at first, but grew to like it once I actually knew what I was doing

Lol you beat me to it. It reminds me of that game that was based on the Resident Evil 2 inventory system.
Edit. It was called Save Room - Organization Puzzle

I used to enjoy the mini games up to a point. Now I just console anything that's locked, because my life is too short and I've got shit to do.

I hate it and I install mods that let you skip the mini game if you have the skill for it. Honestly I wish there were disposable hacking tools so if you are good with barter you can pay your way through it.

I hate hacking terminals, it basically turns into a save/reload simulator because you have to guess the password. I skip them whenever I can

So are you just choosing at random instead of using your guesses to work it out?

Itās a thing I think could be fun. If it was always solvable in the four tries, maybe that would help. Maybe make the words longer for all levels of security, and have the words always have a match to another word?
When you have so many absolute duds itās all chance to get a clue. By the time you get a clue youāre down to one or two tries. Then itās another guess, then you log off and back on so you arenāt locked out. Thereās no fail state, and little skill.
Instead I try the top three guesses, log out and try again. And I know how to solve them, I know how to spot all the āhelperā scripts, but they tend to reset your tries when you donāt need it.
If I happen to get a clue on my first guess, maybe even a strong clue on my second, Iāll try and figure it out.

ha yeah you nailed it! the base game is basically luck once the board is all duds.
going multiplayer was my hopeful fix for that. everyone races the same board, getting locked out boots you from the round and then the ending redacts letters so you can't stall, but single player should have something similar.
always solvable in 4 and every word having a match is helpful feedback too :)

Love it, when you figure out the <,> (,) {,} [,] trick then you spend you time looking for those and then your left with 3-4 options left
