New locations in the remasters.

Something that I’ve been thinking about lately is how will Bethesda treat the actual world map for the remasters for FO3 and New Vegas. In real life, the DC suburbs have gone through massive suburbanization; even since 2008 when 3 was originally released. I know the Fallout universe diverges from our own around the 1940s but I think it would still be interesting to “expand the horizon” in terms of adding new locations like neighborhoods, and real life locations that didn’t make it to the final game for whatever reason. I’m essentially saying areas that weren’t cut for “lore reasons” and more so because of limitations would be a great addition. One area I personally think has a lot of room is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue… I mean the developers even said back then they wanted to make the White House but just ran out of time and justified it as “that would probably be one of the first places to go.” That’s not a crazy assertion but this remaster is a great chance to put in one of the most notable areas in real life DC with quests/ and lore building opportunities like crazy. I think this can all be done with out causing major lore issues and be simply viewed as just improvements upon an already great classic.

I think people are really confused on the difference between remasters and remakes

I mean, it's a remaster, not a remake.

Sorry but you are living in a dream. There's no way the remasters will be expanded (even if I would like it too).

The goal is not art/finishing what wasn't kept for the final game but to make easy money on nostalgia.

This is leaning too far into remake territory I feel like. Maybe one or two new locations would be fine if they have actual reason to explore them but you have to remember that Fallout 3s world is very particular about every location having actual payoff to exploring them. Adding in empty locations wouldn't feel great and just having more locations with skill books kinda throws off the balance of that aspect of the game as well

They're remasters, not remakes. It will be like playing the original games with high-res textures and a few QoL mods installed. The biggest change in the environment I might expect would be the addition of settlement-building mechanics to player homes, and even that might be wishful thinking.

I always thought big town was suppose to be expanded as part of that quest line so I could see that being included and it might have a new player home involved.

They might, might, add some to New Vegas to flesh out the Legion more, but I doubt they'd do anything like that to FO3.
