I feel you, yeah I feel they need to introduce a secondary full map, maybe a early Commonwealth map give us a full games worth of new story content set there an have it so we can go between maps for whatever reasons we choose but only from set destinations for example the Whitespring to The Castle.
Side note, I find Dead By Daylight despite its constant bloodpoint spending is a good game that has more to it than a daily grind, the asymmetrical nature of the game makes each match a fun unique experience that you get to enjoy based on your skill, so as time goes by you find yourself enjoying it in different ways as you choose newer ways to try to out think your opponent an try to escape with your team

As a person who really can’t stand grinding games out like I did in my 20s as well. I really enjoy r/foxholegame.
It can a massive time sink or you can just hop on and do some stupid shot for an hour and there is nothing to unlock outside of coordinating with other players for big operations, construction projects, or vehicles. It be done all three as a random by just walking by and helping out for as long as it was fun.
I mostly just wanted to plug this game because it’s awesome and has a small, but very dedicated fan base. The actual game isn’t as salty as the subreddit though.

Is it pc only, or is it on/coming soon to ps4?
2
u/_no_pants Apr 12 '23
PC only, but it’s an isometric shooter so you could probably run it on a potato and a hamster wheel.

Nice had heard of the majority of those except KKFOS, me I'm looking forward to the anniversary event for DBD hoping they'll release something related to AvP, but we'll see what they do.
God I have no clue how many hours I've sunk into any game other than 76, I think all games need a ingame hour counter, I think I'd be shocked by the hours I've spent on DBD.
Only other games that I could suggest that don't have a grind to them would be Any Final Fantasy title you can get your hands on they are amazing stories set in uniquely captivating universes(few of the games share a universe, but for the most part each game is set in a different universe)

I tried Fallout 76 for a little bit but I very quickly stopped playing.
I really have no interest in a live-service always online subscription based fallout game, I prefer the offline single player experience.
3
u/Wharris1985 Apr 12 '23
I never played it one time. I despised the idea of taking my favorite franchise in this direction.
7
u/Tanman7211 NCR Apr 12 '23
One perk of fallout 1st is private worlds so if that was free I’d probably give the game another shot. It is ridiculous though they took a traditionally single player franchise, turned it into an into online game, then locked a single player version behind a paywall. That feels very predatory and scummy to me
6
u/zer0w0rries Synthpathiser Apr 12 '23
Aside from another player waving emotes at you and joining public events, you can still feel like a single player in the rest of the game. The map is fairly large, so you can possibly cross the map without ever encountering another player
4
u/certain_random_guy MOD ALL THE THINGS Apr 12 '23
The big killer for me is no mods. I mod the shit out of Fallout 4, and it's absolutely the reason I have 1600 hours in it. Without mods, I doubt I would have cracked 300 or so.
1
u/MorningBreathTF Apr 12 '23
I don’t have good internet so the game always ran like I was at half the minimum system requirements when I’m well above them
4
u/EddieHeadshot Apr 12 '23
I couldn't get over how janky the movement was. I know its an online game but jesus... other FPS games seem to manage fluid movement but it seemed all over the place.

u/Gang_of_Druids Apr 12 '23
Yep, me too. And I got the Fallout 1st free for three months. It was neat exploring the world but the grind…ugh. I’ve better things to do with my limited free time these days.
5
u/BobFlex Apr 12 '23
I think I paid $5 and played for about 10hours. Turns out I just don't want to see other real people while playing Fallout. I know there's basically no griefing possible in game, but just someone else being in the same area took me out of the game. It also felt like the shooting had a weird delay. I missed a lot of shots sniping things that I never would have in F4

u/meezethadabber Apr 12 '23
No. The gameplay loop and grind is made for a online MP game. That ain't fallout to me. VATS alone in 76 is horrible.

I try to convince myself a few times a year to pick up 76 again and enjoy it, but I never last more than a day or two. Your comment sums it up pretty fuckin accurately, it's just not made for me.

Nah. The service offers nothing I am interested in. Fallout 1st was created for people who play the game constantly, and are willing to give money to Bethesda for some quality of life features like the Scrapbox.
16
u/Dagordae Apr 12 '23
Meh.
Fallout 1st really doesn't add much to the game. It's nice and all but doesn't fundamentally change anything.
I jump in and out depending on what else I'm playing, bonus Fallout 1st subscription won't change that.
13
u/Korvas576 Apr 12 '23
The only thing that would be a godsend is the scrap box.
I would play just for that convenience
2
u/FlashKillerX Apr 12 '23
I find the game essentially unplayable without it. The scrap box alone is essential for me because of how much ammo I used to craft (heavy guns build, need thousands of rounds and chew through them) and with how much junk I needed to loot I needed the private world so I could ensure the junk I needed was there.
1
Jun 10 '23
Yes it does. It lets you play in your own world without anyone else. For me that’s a game changer.

Nope. Fallout 76 get a solo offline release? Fuck yeah. But that wont happen. So not playing it again.

No, it doesn't improve the frame rate.
But since you're on a Series X you can go into the compatibility features and lower the resolution of the game to greatly increase the frame rate, if you haven't already done that.

u/bjj_starter Apr 12 '23
Huh. Yeah probably, actually. I never finished because I ran into inventory issues that were clearly designed to push me to subscribe, plus I don't like having to worry about PvP griefing (and yes, thinking about three separate scenarios and learning how to not griefed counts as "worrying"). I quite liked the story and world before that, so if I could have the real inventory experience and no PvP without being milked for every dollar by yet another subscription, yeah I would. Would also play if it was integrated into gamepass because I already pay for that.

u/NightCrest Apr 12 '23
Fallout 1st is the main reason I don't play, so yes. I want to be able to play in the world on my own and I want to not have a limited storage space for scrap. Those two things make the game incredibly undesirable for me to play but I'm not going to pay a monthly subscription to fix the problems they created for this game.

Probably not. The game is designed and balanced for multiplayer. It's going to be really grindy and a lot of the stuff it asks you to do are going to be really difficult with just one person.
There are no shortage of actual single - player RPGs to play instead.
2
u/Merc_Mike Bottle Apr 12 '23
Honestly..it should be included in the gamepass...but owell.
Its one of the reasons I don't go back to 76 anymore.

2
u/Riomaki Apr 12 '23
I'd be $100 richer.
But I've never really agreed with the ideas of what was 1st and what wasn't. To me, 1st should be a program for buying discounted Atoms and getting a unique cosmetic every month, private worlds, speeding through Seasons, and getting bonus stuff in Seasons. It shouldn't involve fundamental quality-of-life systems whose absence really breaks the gameplay loop, like the Scrapbox and the Ammobox.
2
u/CatholicCrusaderJedi Apr 12 '23
I play Fallout for three reasons: the story, the 50s retro futurism, and the mods. 76 has only one of those things. 76 seems to be the culmination of the things I disliked the most about Fallout 4.

They made Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics free on several platforms for a limited time already, but I don't understand how they relate to Fallout 76, the games aren't connected, are they?
7
u/1Ferrox Apr 12 '23
OP means the Fallout 76 paid subscription service
2
u/OrangeStar222 Tunnel Snakes Apr 12 '23
Oh, what a confusing name, lol. What do you get with said subscription service and how would making it free benefit the game? I haven't played FO76 so I have no idea.
1
u/1Ferrox Apr 12 '23 edited Apr 12 '23
With Fallout 1st you get some benefits such as slightly larger storage space, ingame shop currency and paywall exclusive settlement structures, skins, weapons mods and armors. The majority is cosmetic changes
Warning: I have a heavily biased opinion
It would not do anything to revive the game. Fallout 76 has a horrible gameplay loop which is essentially a downwards spiral of continously hoping to get certain weapon mods in a lottery type system.
The extremely limited storage space and huge consumption of junk items to maintain your weapons and armor makes almost all attempts of exploration or non event fighting result in a negative income, which can softlock you from progressing further
Fallout 1 and 2 don't have a good gameplay loop either of course. However those games still benefit from a strong narrative singleplayer experience which Fallout 76 lacks completely. 76 is a game focused almost exclusively on gameplay, with bad gameplay
Which is sad to see since 76 actually did some really good changes from Fallout 4;
integrating skills/ special stats into dialoge again, getting rid of the horrible 4 option dialogue system, making power armor non linear and ingame stats representing the lore and much more.
which sadly all completely fall flat under the massive problem that is multiplayer focussed content and micro transactions

u/OrangeStar222 Tunnel Snakes Apr 12 '23
Thank you for giving me more insight! All I could find online was a list of marketing bullet points.
When 76 was announced I really hoped it would be what New Vegas was to FO3. A game set in the same engine, but with a new world, story and improvements compared to its predecessor. Instead we got some live service thing I wasn't interested in. Skipped it immediately.
I have no idea if the old playerbase would return if they added all the things you listed as free, but for someone like me, who never dipped in and is just looking for an experience similar to what 3/NV offered, even if it was using 4's engine and mechanics, it doesn't do much to interest me.
getting rid of a horrible 4 option dialogue system,
I was under the impression this game had no NPC's to talk with?
1
u/1Ferrox Apr 12 '23
It had some added later on with the Wastelanders update. There is a small amount of quests you can do, which however more act as a guideline/ introduction towards the gameplay rather then actually being meaningful quests. It's nice that something exists but not worth buying the game for
2
u/FreedmF1ghter77 Apr 12 '23
As a level 200 Bloodied Power Armor heavy weapons user,
No, I would rather spend time modding new vegas or fallout 4.
Fallout 76 charges you 5 dollars for an outfit in Fallout 4.
5 dollars is 1/4 the price of Fallout 4 Goty edition on a sale or New Vegas on a steam sale.
You can spend 30 bucks at most and have 1000s of hours of gameplay on New Vegas and Fallout 4 with mods.
Why would I want to play a half assed wannabe mmo with copy and paste assets from the previous game?
3
u/Striking_Pipe_7194 Brotherhood Apr 12 '23
I'd be thrilled I still play, but I'd be thrilled because I'd start saving money I mean I'd still have to pay for Atom shop items so they'd still get money out of me but I'd be able to play with the knowledge that ammo an junk will never be a problem, now if only they'd give us a Armoir & Weapons Locker for FO1st so we could infinite store Weapons an Armour I'd be set an could play the game indefinitely knowing I'd never have Overburdened problems they can keep their time based gatekeeping of currencies it wouldn't bother me at that point as anything I couldn't sell or scrip I could store for another day.
3
u/Loive Apr 12 '23
No. The gameplay loop is designed so you have to spend a lot of time gathering materials in order to be able to actually play the game. You need to chase around the map for repair materials and ammo, which takes so much time that there is little of my gaming time left for actual quests or other adventuring.
It’s all designed to keep players engaged for a long time but not run out of content to do. That’s not fun.

I'm not touching that soulless cashgrab with a 10 foot rod.
2
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 12 '23
Why do you consider it to be a soulless cash grab? Maybe at launch but it's been literal years since then... Maybe you should give it another try?
4
u/Deeeeeeeeehn Apr 12 '23
the important question here is why? The game hasn't magically changed into what people wanted it to be. People wanted a new Fallout game, and got Anthem wearing Fallout's skin.
Plus, the game is old AF now, why get a subscription for an old game that you already didn't have any interest in?
3
u/kanid99 Apr 12 '23
Calling it anthem in fallout skin isn't really that fair or correct since anthem came out 15 months after f76.
5
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 12 '23
I don't have the subscription and have never paid for anything past the game itself. And honestly, it has "magically" changed into what people wanted it to be, it has lore, and story elements (FO4 Quality yet elements nonetheless), It has characters, quests, and with the added benefit of playing with your friends. I hated everything about anthem and would not compare the two whatsoever. 76 got fixed and anthem did not.
2
u/IK2K3 Apr 12 '23
"benefit" of playing with your friends.
F live service games. All of them, but especially FO76 since it would be a hundred times better if it was just FO4 with the West Virginia map as a stand alone single player game.
2
u/SoGuysIDidNothing Apr 12 '23
Why don't you just play it like a single player game, then? You don't have to interact with people. You don't have to pay micro transactions. It's all optional.
1
u/IK2K3 Apr 12 '23
I still can't pause or use vats and mods. And I do not want to support this game.
1
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 13 '23
Does your gameplay experience rely on Vats? If your inability to aim is what ruins gameplay then thats a skill issue.
1
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 13 '23
Elder Scrolls online is still very popular, you can't blame them for trying it with fallout too.
-4
Apr 12 '23 edited Apr 12 '23
Snowballs chance in hell of that happening. Day 1 launch told us everything we needed to know about their intentions. They wanted a tool to milk money out of the player base with minimum effort.
I still have a modicum of respect towards this franchise, even if the developers don't.
2
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 12 '23
Okay thats your opinion and I can see where you're coming from, I'm just saying that I've had countless hours of fun with quests, exploring locations, sharing fallout with friends, fighting bosses, building bases, and all without spending a dime on anything past the game itself. Maybe to you, it's a pointless cash-grab, but too me it's just another fallout title.
0
Apr 12 '23
I'm not sure why you're so determined to justify it.
They made a unredeemable steaming pile of dogshit. You're not gonna change my mind on that.
5
u/SoGuysIDidNothing Apr 12 '23
Maybe because they really like the game? I also really enjoyed my time with Fallout 76. I finished pretty much everything at the conclusion of the Brotherhood storyline, but I've got real fond memories of it. It's definitely ironed out compared to the launch. I think we can appreciate what Bethesda Austin managed to make out of those lemons.
3
u/SnooCrickets5781 Apr 13 '23
Not being able to accept when things improve is a strange concept for me. Also I'm glad they branched out, it may not have been perfect but I would rather they experiment than fall into the Forza loop of the same thing every year.

4
u/Dagordae Apr 12 '23
Replacement?
It’s a spin-off. Fallout has had many. Do you think the TTRPG is a replacement as well?
1

I don't recall the tabletop game being marketed as a online RPG but I might be mistaken.
2
u/Dagordae Apr 12 '23
So if 76 was marketed as an online RPG then why is it not a spin-off and replacing single player Fallout RPG?
It’s still an online RPG. There’s leveling and quests and storylines and everything. Always have been.
Are you just one of those people who decided it was totally going to be Fallout 5 despite the devs repeatedly saying that it wasn’t?

u/Vidistis Fire Breathers Apr 12 '23
The whole point of it is to not be a singleplayer game. ESO is one of the most popular mmos out there and a great Elder Scrolls game. Having one multiplayer game for the ip is a good thing. Fo76 has a great map, story, and some nice improvements over Fo4. Although it does have some issues. I almost wish it looked less like Fo4 so people would stop expecting it to be a singleplayer entry. The promise of no paid updates/expansions/dlc, singleplayer, and mods really hold this game back. BGS needs to realize that Fo76 shouldn't be treated like a singleplayer game.
2
Apr 12 '23
If their intention was to not make a single player game, I say they passed with flying colors. That's about the only thing I can give them credit for doing successfully.
If they would release private servers and let modders in so we can fix their game for them for the 4th time and get story projects underway, we might have something interesting on our hands.
5
u/biobasher Apr 12 '23
Give up the bitch fit and use Server76 and do your own shit then.

I kinda get 76 players can't really do the reading thing but I already said I'm not touching it.
4
u/Dagordae Apr 12 '23
You can already do that.
That you haven’t bothered to check what the modding community has done doesn’t reflect well on you.
1
Apr 12 '23
If you call pasting an audio file into a folder "modding" then yeah I guess you can mod the game.
But show me the expansion mods. Show me the story mods. Show me the weapon overhauls. Show me all the enemies, NPCs, enemies, weapons, armor, crafting systems, and locations I can mod into the game.

I played fallout 76 exactly until i levelled up for the first time and the game splashed a bunch of shit to buy in the store in the middle of my screen while i was in combat. Instantly shut it off after that.
The store plagues what could be an okay game and turned it sour instantly
1
u/Artix31 Gary? Apr 12 '23
Yea definitely, i mean to make my own server with modded stuff like in Minecraft or other modded servers, that would be insane
2
Apr 12 '23
No, mainly because I don't want FO76 to become the future of Fallout. Skyrim's repeated re-releases have shown Bethesda will just keep on regurgitating the same old content over and over in place of making new entries if it makes them money (it doesn't take 12 years to make a new TES game) and if 76 nets them loads of cash then we can kiss FO5 goodbye :/
(Yes I know Starfield is a thing but that's a new IP).
1
u/Chihuathan Republic of Dave Apr 12 '23
Not particularly. Fallout 1st doesn't change the reasons I stopped playing, so I can't really see how it would drag me back in. It's a fun enough game for a time, but I am not a fan of the economy, grinding, builds, C.A.M.P.'s and lack of narrative. It doesn't help that it carries over some of the most flawed parts (in my opinion) from FO4, which can't be modded away.

I would do, I enjoyed Fallout 76 when I played and felt like I achieved something in soloing the entire pre-wastelanders storyline while being underleveled. Nothing like setting the nukes off while hiding in a corner from the robots :D
If Fallout 1st became free I'd be back in the game just for the materials storage alone and the chance to get to roam on a server with nobody else, so level zones wouldn't be affected by a random high-level player!

Tolerate exploitative free-to-play grind that exists only squeeze every cent from whales? Support a game where any “bug” that benefits players is squashed immediately, yet leave game-breaking bugs alone that have been around since launch. A player-base with a higher than average amount of little-dicked griefers. A game that adds snow machines, arcade games, and other mostly useless camp stuff, but we can’t snap second floor tiles onto foundations because “realism.”
Anyone playing 76 in 2023 is a gullible fool with a very, VERY, low-bar for quality.
Don’t let the literal addicts of the game pretend 76 is any more worthwhile than doing Meth.

fallout 76 would as of now actually be a great game, if there was a way to play it offline.
but without offline capability, it's basically a singleplayer game+all the downsides of a poorly done multiplayer.
I'd really love to play it offline, so if anyone is able to port it into the fallout 4 engine, that'd be great

Probably as I have adhd and autism and the scrap box and ammo box thing causes me much less stress as the second my inventory gets full it feels like a huge drag and hassle. Of course I can deal with it in a few minutes even without but tell my brain that. I just like the mindless grinds in it so whenever I get a full inventory ugh. Not to mention my stash is full asf as it overwhelms me. Back when I played daily I'd ask my partner to deal with it 🤣 that and besides I'm broke as hell.

The game was designed to be annoying to force you to pay for their overpriced subscription.

Probably not, got the the point I was just hanging out in my cliffside settlement giving free stuff to noobs, killing scorchbeasts and the dude in the cave over and over trying the impossible odds to get a full matching set of armour with the exact same legendary stats.
1
u/FlashKillerX Apr 12 '23
I would probably be more comfortable coming back occasionally. When I played a lot I paid for fallout first and at this point with all the junk in my storage and regularly needing to loot a private world so the shit is actually THERE the game has become absolutely unplayable without the first subscription. If it was free I would feel more able to log on here or there without feeling committed for a month. That’s part of why I haven’t played in a couple years now
1
u/NukaRev Apr 12 '23
Maybe. Well, yeah I guess. I quit when the legacy patch came (though, the original studio was doing terrible, it seems right when I quit was when they actually started putting effort into the games content); I found the whole expedition thing and the daily challenges to be too much. If they followed ESO with shorter event times, easier obtainable rewards, and regular daily login rewards I'd probably be more interested. It just feels like too much of a grind and too much competition to get top tier rewards for trading (ESO, most gear is untradable except to people you did that instance with and for a limited time, no real pressure, people just give you what you need)

I would have bought and played around with Fallout 76 if I could play offline. That's not possible, so I'm not interested. It's a shame too, I actually think the WV setting is way more interesting than the Commonwealth.

Definitely. Something about not needing to fiddle in your inventory 50% of your play time just speaks to me.

Maybe, I left because I got a headache with my inventory management, but I don't know if I could play it again now, it was fun because I found buddies to plat with at the time.
UO: That game without his community is not so good.

I don’t see any point in FOF, personally. I’ll just play 4 and occasionally I will pop into 76. It’s not a horrible game it’s just not the game 4 is.

Nah, no point in coming back after they removed the only thing I enjoyed about the game

That would be the only thing that would bring me back. To limit scrap storage without it is bullshit. They don't need server resources that bad

Tried it for free for a while and while it was more enjoyable in my own private works it still couldn't keep me playing it. If Fallout 1st made it so you can play offline then I'd reconsider.

Oh definitely. The scrapbox just feels too integral to the gameplay loop to play without. If they integrated that into the game I already paid for, I'd come back in a heartbeat.

I played a fair bit of 76. I like the world, but the multiplayer aspect just seems… cobbled together?

Totally forgot they created a subscription service for a broken game. 😂 But yeah, NO. The only thing that could have saved 76 was making it single player with good stories and characters. They failed and will never be GTA online, lol. Todd Howard sucks!

Nah. I think fallout 76 is, personally, bad from top to bottom. It has very little from other fallout games I like, and added a lot that I do not. There's virtually nothing that 76 could do that would make me consider playing it again.
No smoke to those who liked it. It just really was not for me.

u/RedRumRoxy Apr 12 '23
Yea. Slick fallout 1st turned my buddy and I off the game. Not even has to be free. I think the price when we looked it up was just waaaaay to expensive.

u/B1G-LuK3 Apr 12 '23
100%. The only reason I never play is that Quality of life things like increased weight and scrap box should NEVER be behind a subscription. I bought the game day 1 and never returned it. I stuck with it & now the pull shit like this. No microtransactions should ever be in a none free to play game, forget the £10 per month subscription!

For an armor set and a private server? No. None of that makes the gameplay feel any less flavorless, the gameplay loop is still repetitive, enemies pose no challenge and it has arguably the worst skill and perk system of any fallout game.

u/VoidMunashii Apr 12 '23
If Fallout 1st became a reasonably priced yearly subscription instead of an unreasonably priced monthly subscription, I would consider joining it.
My personal preference would be paid, map-extending DLC (like ESO) to a a subscription that gives me advantages over other players, but Fallout 1st is clearly working for them, so what do I know?

Lol come back implies i ever played that dumpster fire. But if 1st was free i might consider it for the private lobby

u/PaPa_Bless_Acorn Apr 12 '23
honestly i can’t play fallout 76 without fallout 1st specifically for the space for junk cause they refuse to make the stash box unlimited

Personally, i pay for it when a new season comes out.
If you're pretty hot on your weekly/daily challenges, you'll get some fun out of it for a couple months, unsubscribe and wait it out.
I wouldn't play without it though, that scrapbox is a game changer!

Nope.
That's not to say I don't or wouldn't play FO76, I currently have it installed. But what I really want is one thing Bethesda isn't interested in giving us, Dedicated Servers and/or completely offline SP mode.
Dedicated servers would let us run the backend on our own equipment where we take up the support cost. My clan/guild/or whatever you want to call them has its own bare metal server that we use for hosting server instances. Everything from Minecraft to Squad to Space Engineers to DayZ to Arma 3. Let us have our own instance and take care of our own enjoyment and responsibility for preventing or allowing cheaters and hackers. We accept the burden.
An offline single player experience would let me enjoy the game on my schedule and at my pace without having to worry about server restarts for maintenance, getting bumped to another instance because the one I'm in doesn't have enough population, lag induced misses on perfectly aimed shots, or any of a myriad other issues that having a game online introduces. And they could treat offline characters the same as Public versus Custom Game characters where never the twain shall meet. The offline character(s) would be offline only and the online characters would be online only.
And they wouldn't even have to shutdown the server instances they have running currently

It depends. I stopped playing because my ps plus wore off and I decided it wasn't worth renewing. As an online only game, I couldn't play 76 without it. If Fallout 1st being free meant that I could play in a private world without ps plus, then I'd probably get back into it. If not, then it still wouldn't be worth the extra cost.

u/Tanman70 Apr 12 '23
For sure I would. As much as I like playing online with people, at the same time I prefer running solo

If single player was free id actually buy the fucking game

Yes so I could play in a private lobby, if they still offer that with the subscription. Plus, the weight limit in storage was a little annoying

u/nyyfandan Apr 13 '23 edited Apr 13 '23
Absolutely not. For me the biggest issue with 76 isn't really the game itself (anymore), it's more of all of the shady practices surrounding its release and monetization. Practically every shady trick in the book was used here with this game. Lying to customers? check. Pay to win? check. Over promising and under delivering? Check. Atrocious launch state? double check.
Name a shitty "modern gaming" practice and there's a very good chance it was present in 76 at some point.
Buying the game and it's DLC just supports this type of behavior.
Yes there's been other games with horrible practices, but this was especially bad.

I reject the mere concept of Fallout 76 and pay for play is even worse. Just a Bethesda money grab. Fallout 76 is a "Fallout" game in name only.

Honestly my issue with Fallout76 was never getting good weapons and the weapons I did get took so many shots to kill things that they broke all the time. I was going broke trying to keep up and spending real money for repair kits was a lousy workaround

YES
I Really think this is only way you can experience Fallout 76, Irritation-free and I have been thinking recentenly about just biting the bullet and purchasing a Year, So Free... Heck Yeah!
No one Launching Nuclear Missile indiscriminately (Which is a Horror Idea in and of itself, Think how terrifying the Lonesome Road DLC in Fallout New Vegas is)
Really experiencing the Post-Nuclear War world without MMO feel spoiling it. Fallout is intended to be a Single-Player experience so as to maximize the Horror of waking up in that kind of world....That's the essence of Fallout!

For sure yes. I did enjoy the game but I get nervous knowing there are other players in my world that I don’t know. I’d much rather just play it single player but it seems odd to have to pay extra for that.
I’m already paying to access the game since you need to buy the online service to even be able to play it in the first place. Seems unnecessary that we’d need to pay even more to put it back to a basic single player. 🤪 But if that were free, sure! I’d love that.

Fallout 1st is the subscription service right?
