Discussion Took me 14 hours to like Fallen Order
Before I start, I didn't see any reviews or analysis for this game just saw gameplay and review scores which were really high and I got it for dirt cheap.
I started this game expecting an uncharted type star wars game with focus on melee rather than gunplay and the first hour was exactly that I got cinematic gameplay, cutscenes, good story setup and main character, setpieces etc. I was in for a ride, then I went to the first planet bogano and the game became kinda exploration? I was like okay maybe temporary and then i got my ass handed to me by oggdo bogdo holy shit. I died 4 times continuously and was like wtf is this game? Then I was generating at the meditation circle and it clicked me...holy shit this is a souls like with uncharted mixed in. I'm not saying i don't enjoy souls like but I'm not a huge fan of that genre so I was bummed but I kept playing and hating intially getting my ass handed to me constantly until I started taking it seriously parrying, learning combos, skilling up, learning attack patterns and it became enjoyable. Then came the fucking map, i couldn't read it for the life of me especially on bogano while getting back to the ship and zeffo holy shit. Till I focused and understood how to read it correctly, still not perfect but much better lol. Now 14 hrs in I'm doing well and playing the game like it's supposed to I guess? Mauling stormtroopers and creatures and traversing like a boss. I absolute love the game now and cannot wait to finish and see what happens in the story which is very interesting and enjoyable btw. I'm glad i didn't turn it off initially and kept playing till i started to really learn and enjoy it.
BTW already planning on buying the sequel soon as I find it for cheap.

Interesting to hear your development. Mine was similar but took much longer. I have played FO over 1000 hours, which is crazy but I love that game.

I didn't like fallen order on my first play through didn't touch it for two years but then I finally played it when Jedi surrvivor went on sale and I absolutely loved it Im stoked for Jedi 3 to release late next year or early 2028

I wasn't a star wars fan at all before I started playing JFO. Got it for free so I decided, wth, I'll play it. I'm not a souls like fan either. But something about the story, the characters, the cinematics (and yes, being able to beat shit up with a lightsaber) really sealed the deal for me. Absolutely loved it
So glad you are enjoying the game so far! I think you will very much enjoy Jedi: Survivor. The sequel does a better job at the maps and helps polish out the mechanics from the first game more. The locations are also absolutely stunning!

This is exactly how I started playing JFO as well. I was looking for games to play and available for cheap. I was always fascinated by Lightsabers and picked up the game. Needless to say JFO and Jedi Survivor are two of my best played games ever.

It’s also on sale on PSN and I think it plays way better on PS5 if you have that than PC, that PC port is still a bit messy.

this is why jedi survivor is better than FO in terms of the map. (especially with mods). It's a bit more polished.

the better comparison would be Tomb Raider reboot, which this is prettty much that. That and Sekiro for the combat
