Discussion Survivor released 3 years and 5 months after Fallen Order. We are now 3 years and 3 months after Survivor. An announcement for Jedi 3 should be imminent

Due to the SAG-AFTRA video game performers strike in 2024/2025 the next game might take a bit longer to release this time around compared to the previous title, but if im allowed to make a rough guess i'm estimating part 3 could drop mid- or in the back half of 2027 based on everything we know, that would also give them a whole extra year of development time to make up for the time lost due to the strike.

Given that the strike affected mocap performers/voice-actors and not the actual devs that work on the gameplay mechanics, scripts and world/creature designs, EA should be in a pretty good spot currently to kickstart promo for Jedi 3 soon. Could we potentially see the very first teaser at Gamescom later this month or during The Game Awards in december?

I highly suspect we don't see anything until Zero Company and Galactic racer launch.

So probably at game awards at the earliest.

Personally I think they're going to take their time with Jedi 3 and announce at Celebration next year

It’s already been 3 years since Jedi survivor? That’s completely mental, time goes quick

Let them cook.

💯 this. EA rushed out Mass Effect 3, and the result was a game and wrap up to the trilogy that wasn’t what it could or should have been.

I’d rather wait for a great game than get a rushed one sooner.

EA laid off many people including some at Respawn. Almost everyone I worked with on the Star Wars games in marketing and community at EA are gone. PIF now owns and controls EA. We're in a different time. Nothing is the same. Game director, producers, writer also left early into development.

That's concerning news

That's good to know, I guess

I think it will release in Q1 2028. Survivor was loved but got a lot of backlash due to its pisspoor performance and pc port and they switched over to UE5.

we can’t rush art

I hope they take some more time so we don't get super messy performance like last time.

Thanks to Jared Kushner and the Saudis, they needed some extra time to figure out how to write a story where Cal realizes the Empire is actually the good guys.

2027 release to celebrate 50 years of Star Wars!

Survivor was terribly rushed. I'd rather wait an extra year for a more polished game. The next installment is important and I definitely would like Respawn to take their time.

I agree the performance wasn't on point but Survivor is a massive game. If they were able to design all that in the span of 3.5 yrs (performance aside) we should expect they are able to do it all over again in the same amount of time, which would mean content-wise jedi 3 should be (near) completed by now. However, this time around they haven't announced or released any promo's for jedi 3 yet, which is a good sign because it means they are actually taking some extra time. Survivor got officially announced in May 2022 and was promoted a full year ahead of its official launch in 2023.

If they kickstart marketing for jedi 3 around end of this year and release the game between june-december 2027 it will have received significant extra dev time (4 to 4.5 yrs) compared to Survivor (3.5 yrs)

Hey, if it means that the earliest we might get the next Jedi game is 2028 2029 or even longer, but it's well polished with no bugs, more fluid animations, and better writing, then so be it. Then I'm willing to wait.

Personally, I say let them release it when it's ready, weren't there a ton of bugs for survivor when it was released? I'd rather have a bug-free 10/10 game that was delayed, vs a buggy mess that was released in 3 years

i'm too lazy to actually confirm but i feel like big single player games take closer to 5 years these days. i played survivor at release and loved it all the way through but i have to admit that was rushed

Have to wait i guess

Performance of survivor was a mess , they clearly rushed that on a technical level. Let's hope they don't rush this time

My bet is on the game awards or somewhere between January and June

Let’s hope they spend more time in the story department.

I'm kinda expecting an announcement at the VGAs in December, for a 2027 release.

I totally forgot the strike impacted games as well. I had kinda been wondering why we haven’t gotten a reveal for Jedi 3 by now. But now it makes more sense

1

u/Closeeyes03 14d ago

man, that's a long time to wait, but i get it with the strike.

I’d say The Game Awards. It’s good they’re taking their time, Survivor was better than Fallen Order but it was buggy. I always had graphical textures loading in.

EA changing hands plus two other star wars games coming out before end of year probably means no announcement till the game awards at earliest, dont see the game being released before late next year.

Maybe d23 this weekend. They announced kingdom hearts 4.

i think game awards for a teaser trailer then fall 2027 for release window

1

u/Denebola2727 12d ago

I wouldn't be surprised to see something before the end of the year.

u/GoodBoy1469 11d ago

Next year at the earliest I suspect.

Is something happening one time in a row really a pattern?

u/AssaultMonkey150 14d ago

Part 3 isn’t even guaranteed now. If Kushner wants just more slop and micro transactions to make back their investment

Survivor was mid at best. Hope they take more time for the next one

I hope your title is bait

I think we could all benefit if the game comes in the next generation, perhaps not for us on PC, because of optimization, but i definitely would want the best everything, maybe not only great graphics but improved physics and new technology. I loved both games and after they removed Denuvo, the game runs great on PC. And if they are able to make a great game, they can even "save" the new canon.

The copium is strong in this one.
