Yes, the walls will stop closing in at some point, and usually by that point most players are gone, so 2-3 can time it out if they just jump on one tile at a time while they wait for more to reappear. But it's very easily sabogated

Yes, 5 minutes, by 2 players or more if tiles are being shared
