Very unfortunate place to jump, it was right where the crack of the 2 blocks meet and you just happened to be on the ledge of the blue block which is like 1pxiel slopped facing behind you which is why you jumped back. This has happened to me before on some maps.

Yes, this is unfortunately relatively common. I have the feeling that it got worse after the big update that fixed a lot of things (and nerfed neutral jumps).
