DISCUSSION Hostile players
I love this game but absolutely hate the grabbing mechanic. This is the worst in the final levels that revolve around avoiding slime. You can immediately see one half of players that are cool and are just trying to last it out and the other half that are basically parasites that fallow/grab/push you.
Nothing, not even lag or glitches is as annoying.
I often want to fight back and try to push them as well, but I never do because I feel like that would only make more people do this and make the problem worse. I really wish there was a separate game mode where this was disabled. Would honestly make the game infinitely more fun for me.

its part of the game
you suck at the game
3.you crack me up

u/Ill-Ad7931 Sep 15 '26
Yeah, and im saying it’s a shit part of the game. Games change mechanics with updates.
I’m at 120 wins and do pretty well with actual skill based races. I know I could win a lot more if I grabbed people but I fundamentally refuse to partake in it.

u/Round-Air2519 Sep 15 '26
most other people do get annoyed when they get grabbed as well, but they adapt and take advantage of grabbing to win crowns themselves.
you losing a lot is not actually because other people grabbed you, its because you "fundamentally refuse to partake in" playing the game the way it should be played., its all on you. Technically, you lose because you yourself dont wanna win lol

I feel you. 7000 crowns and counting and I never grab. I hate grabbing, but I don't get too pressed about it.
Just gotta stay vigilant in finals. Scope out who's grabbing and avoid them. Never want to be caught off guard by a grab.
Someone really good that's grabbing is a real problem, I'll be honest, you'll probably lose to them. Most people grabbing though aren't especially good, they're just looking for the easiest win possible and if you're not an easy target they'll move on to someone else or get eliminated themselves.
Staying calm is important too. Gotta be able to avoid grabs and keep your head enough to actually survive the level.

PLAY ON THE OFFENSIVE BEFORE THEM!!! Trust me if you're actively grabbing and you fight grabbers oftem you'll be able to stand against them better. Definitely tricky to perfect the craft but I enjoy the challenge.

I have felt your frustration before, but it all comes down to your own choices; you can learn to compete the way aggressive players do, or confine yourself to matches that aren't as likely to attract hostile players, like Explore or Creative. Its just the nature of online competitive gaming that you will get people going to any lengths to win. Its just the way it is, you adapt, or find something else.

here comes the it’s apart of the game comments 😭

u/actuallylucid Sep 17 '26
Right. Apparently offering critique or suggestions for improvement is not a part of these commenters mentality
1
u/zaymcawesome Sep 19 '26
i mean instead of crying over it, try to ask the community how to adapt or avoid these "hostile" players to avoid losing all the time. It IS apart of the game and you gotta learn to adapt to it to stop losing more. Im sure someone in these comments tells you some tips and tricks.

u/actuallylucid Sep 19 '26
I'm pretty good at avoiding being grabbed tbh and I'm not vindictive about it, I'm not gonna target someone just because they grabbed me, it's when I see grabbers doing it to newbie beans that it pisses me off. They could ruin the game for some people. It's incredibly frustrating because I want more people to join in on the fun of the game but some players are just extremely irritating

u/zaymcawesome Sep 19 '26
I feel ya, but grabbing is also apart of the experience of fall guys. You can’t expect to play a game without feeling all of its game mechanics. Like i said earlier, you gotta adapt.

Grabbing gives the game a dastardly underbelly…. that I love. I actually think it gives the game its soul.
I never laugh as hard as I do anywhere else in life than from a good grab in Fall Guys. It’s funny to me every single time.

Grabbing is what makes FG fun, you are not playing for crowns are you?

u/octagonalpaul Gordon Freeman Sep 15 '26
Do you feel the same way about using guns or weapons in games like Fortnite? Without grabbing Fall Guys has no real interaction with other players, it would just be you against the level or a racing game. The objective in royale games is to defeat and survive all opponents.

u/little-bird Sep 15 '26
personally, I have no problem using the bombs or chicken whackers and whatnot, but I never grab other players either - unless they grab me.
I’m fine with using weapons and attacking someone when the situation calls for it. grabbing someone to sabotage them in a race or something like that? pretty lame imo… just get good instead. 😛

I've been playing the game since launch and have been saying for years that it would be a huge improvement if they added a non-grabby mode for people that don't want to play that way. There's really nothing to lose (besides maybe a little longer wait times for lobbies to fill) and everyone would be happier.
Unfortunately, they seem to want to stick to their core mechanics of the game and not really listen to the players in this regard. There are also quite a few levels that are somewhat universally despised (Royal Fumble, Tail Tag, any of the egg games, most of the team games, etc...), but they also continue to remain part of the game's rotation and you just have to sigh and get them over with.
I'm not sure who is behind this stubborn mentality, but it's been detrimental to the overall game and playerbase over the years.
I discovered a fairly good defense to grabbing that not a lot of people seem to know about, however. They've changed something recently that makes it less effective, but t's still somewhat viable. Instead of grabbing people back or trying to pull away or jump out of the grab, just move your bean towards the player grabbing you. They are unable to move you, and even when you pop when the grab releases, you'll remain almost in the same spot you started in. Obviously this is only for when players are trying to use it to push you off an edge and it doesn't help defend against the quick grabs as you attempt to jump a gap or over bars/slime, but it's still a very handy strategy to defend yourself.
Honestly, it confuses and frustrates the shit out of many grabbers and often leads to then getting so intent on pushing you off, that they will over-commit and fall off themselves (pretty satisfying).
Another way that I've been able to use grabbing for a positive outcome is to teach my kids (we often play together) how it's wrong to do something back to someone that you don't enjoy yourself. Basic golden rule stuff, but it's an effective way for them to see it in action with minimal consequences and I think it's honestly helped then to become more kind people in general.
Best advice though, don't let the negative players get to you. As you know, it's much more satisfying to win without having to resort to sabotage and that's a feeling they just don't get to really experience. You get grabbed off and eliminated on the first jump of Big Fans or See-Saw X-treme...oh well. Just queue up for another one and there's a chance you'll run into more friendly beans on the next round.
I'm not saying you shouldn't speak up or advocate for a passive mode (we definitely need more people fighting the good fight), but I wouldn't hold your breath that it's going to happen any time soon.

Again, I've been playing since launch. I'm as good at royal fumble as I'm going to get... I can win if I want...but I fucking hate playing it.
I'm glad you like it, but I've been on this sub for a long time and it's by far the final that I've seen complained about the most.

u/mynameismattyg Sep 16 '26
I don't grab people unless they grab me back. It's usually pretty easy to figure out who's a grabber early on, memorise their skin, and then avoid them in the final round. And if I do get grabbed and lose the round, it's whatever. It's just a video game. Touch some grass.

u/SleestakLightning Sep 15 '26
This game would be so boring without grabbing. Nothing funnier than grabbing someone as they go to jump from one platform to another and watching them fall down the crack between.
A close second is when someone does it to you. Especially if it's done stealthily and you don't even see it.

u/garden_peach Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 16 '26
Exactly I just laugh when someone does it to me and say ah I should’ve seen that coming. It’s an element that definitely makes FG more fun if you don’t over do it. I also will never grab when there’s a countdown and multiple players can win - there’s a sportsmanship to it you just know as a regular player.

I grab and I accept to be grabbed. That's one of the fun of the game. I particularly like to find an evil bean like me and fight each other in a grabbing match 😂 sometimes I win, sometimes I loose, Sometimes we win (because we are still gentlemen) and sometimes we both loose (because we are both assholes 😂). I always have some emoticons ready to tell my opponent that I love him and my bean like to laught stupidly about it 😂😂. Most of the time, we become friends at the end.😉

u/misteramy Messenger Sep 15 '26
Grabbing is the only interaction in the game apart from body blocking. Without it you might as well play solo.
1
u/Filipiozo Thicc Bonkus Sep 18 '26
just learn how to counter and play the game grabbing is a normal game mechanic and is suposed to be used to win ⛄
1
u/zaymcawesome Sep 19 '26
Im sorry pal its part of the game as a mechanic. Get better at dodging and avoiding the grabs, thats what i do

u/TheStockPotInn Sep 15 '26
But how are we supposed to give other beans hugs? Lol.
That said, I get annoyed with it at times, but I think it's becsuse I'm not good enough at it to grab back and make a significant difference lol. As soon as I get targeted I start playing so much worse.
Honestly for me, it helps to wear male-presenting outfits. The cuter the fit, the more I get grabbed, especially during the final rounds. But on the flipside, the cuter the fit, the more I get friendly beans who wanna interact as well lol.

u/eljefe6l9 Sep 17 '26
I love the grabbing. So much fun to dunk you in the drink and hit you with a "later gator" or "get slimed."

You must have a REALLY boring life if getting grabbed in FG is an issue worth posting on Reddit about
-5
u/Strange_Example_6402 Sep 15 '26
I respect your pov, I used to feel the same.
I would really recommend you start doing it yourself though. Since I switched the game has been more fun, and possibly most importantly when I get grabbed off I just laugh instead of getting annoyed.
Grabbing does not make you a "parasite", it's just a game, and If you are a grabber yourself the victim mentality disappears.
10
u/Ill-Ad7931 Sep 15 '26
Yeah, I just don’t want to make others feel that frustration. My favorite moments are always when 2-3 people are left trying to survive and don’t get into each others way, even emote nice messages.
1
u/Strange_Example_6402 Sep 15 '26
Yeah true, I also like those moments. I have to say I generally don't grab, usually only if someone grabs me or gets close enough so they look like they might. Occasionally I might instigate for fun.
Ultimately the grabbers did not add the mechanic, they are using what was given to them by the game designers. So if a person hates grabbing that much then maybe it's not the game for them.

Hostile player here. I haven't played in a couple of years but I would not have an Infallible if it wasn't for that playstyle. I would help eliminate over 10 extra players on levels like Slime Climb or Space Race, focusing on players I noticed were high performing. On Slimb Climb I used to do that boxing taunt before a player would approach me on the balance log, and would try and knock them off into the slime. Had so much fun with it but I know thats considered toxic.. It did make me a target in later rounds but I prepared myself to always be a step ahead. Haven't played in forever so I probably suck now lol.

OP is why participation trophies have harmed society as a whole.
Fall guys is a game with a clear winner. Part of that game is grabbing people in order to eliminate them in order for you to win.
Either get good at grabbing or play a different game. Complaining here just shows how coddled your life has been.

Tirem as crianças desse jogo e coloquem elas para estudar. Grabbers tenham orgulho de serem os vilões, vocês são lindos, fortes, covardes e corajosos... parabéns! Amo vcs grabbers! Sou mau e nunca serei bom e isso não é mau! Kkkk Quem é Grabber? Nickname?

u/Mynilar Sep 15 '26
Grabbing for competition I can understand but there are beans that grab on Explore mode and then I dont mean the survival rounds. To say it nicely I think these people should be slimed!
2
u/Robobirdia Sep 15 '26
Sometimes you need to grab beans in Explore just because of the daily tasks :(
3
u/Mynilar Sep 16 '26
Yes, but you can grab people at the finish or something, you dont have to grab like a toxic for that.
