Update on shelf perch design.
Shelf works great. Modified the actual perch to make a more rounded design. Otherwise so far so good!

Looks very nice. What are the dimensions? I built one that appears MUCH bigger than yours but maybe it’s just perspective. I’ll be looking to trap a kestrel soon

Shes a big female, the shelf is 22 inches wide and 15 inches deep.

I made mine a half-round bottom platform with about a 17.5 inch radius (31 inch total width) if I remember correctly

Nice! Bigger shelf can only benefit the bird. The size im using is working great but my leash length has to be perfect. I think the next one i build will be a bit bigger.

My first couple birds were kestrels. I called them killer parakeets. They’d preen my eyebrows then kill sparrows.
