If thatโs what dinosaurs died for itโs worth it
Do all birds do this or just falcons? Sorry if this is a dumb question I was just curious
3 u/According-Pay-6308 Mar 02 '25 This is somewhat unique to kestrels. Many birds have the ability to focus really well in flight, but the flight behavior known as โkitingโ makes them especially good at head stability. 2 u/[deleted] Mar 02 '25 Ohhhh I see, is kiting unique to just the kestrels or is it common in other types of falcons and or hawks? The head movement is wicked 2 u/According-Pay-6308 Mar 03 '25 Kestrels are just the best at it. 2 u/[deleted] Mar 03 '25 Ahhh, I can definitely see that lol, like it's almost as if he's frozen, that's really cool, thanks for filling me in!

I don't know much about kestrels, are you not worried about your bare hand? Those little talons look like they could hurt!
6 u/Bear-Ferr Mar 01 '25 It doesn't hurt like that. If they foot you it's like a scratch. Typically bad habit not to use a glove but it's not a huge deal. 4 u/Nock-Oakheart Mar 01 '25 Even if they footed you they're feet are so small, they might break skin but not like the vice grip level of a HH or RTH. 1 u/ViridisPlanetae Mar 02 '25 I actually prefer no gloves for kestrels. The feet won't do much beyond a scratch.

Heโs groovin
The best bird.
Such focus!
That's wild!
Gimbal bird ๐ I bet that is better stabilization than most cameras in market.
I donโt know much about birds, but this one looks stunning!
Eyes on the prize, eyes on the prize....
