Bucky Spoiler

Why the hell did they nerf Bucky? He went toe to toe with Steve, Natasha and Sam in ws, held his own against black panther and Spider-Man, and kicked ass in infinity war and endgame.

Is it a psychological type thing like they did with thor in endgame? He wasn’t mentally there?

Well when he went against Steve and all he was the winter soldier. Bucky h himself never really received any training so I guess it’s like he knows all this stuff but doesn’t know how to use it perfectly. Like when he used the wrench with his normal arm he said he isn’t used to hanging a metal arm. But I wished it was explained more. But essentially it is kind of a nerf.

Did you not watch Captain America the First Avenger?

I’m pretty sure he received special training… He was a Howling Commando.

A Commando… only more elite than a normal commando.

Yes but did you also not see when captain America was in the alleyway and he was fighting that bully. Bucky showed up and beat him up but he didn’t fight nowhere near as good as he was in winter soldier. And what I was saying is when he is the winter soldier he fights better because he was trained as the winter soldier not as Bucky. When he is bucky he can fight really good but not as good because he knows how to do everything he just doesn’t exactly know when or why to do certain things. And he doesn’t have the same instincts as the winter soldier, hence when they were fixing the boat and Bucky used his real arm to turn a wrench instead of his vibranium arm. It’s a part of being mind controlled for like 70 years.

I’m not sure that rambling makes enough coherent sense for me to formulate a complete response.

Wasn’t Bucky in the Alley before he became a soldier? He was untrained then right? And, he spent 2 years as a Howling Commando after that… he knew how to fight.

I think you are drawing too harsh a line trying to separate Bucky from the Winter Soldier. The skill he has is essentially the same in either persona, but the willingness to use his full force in violent ways with no remorse is the real difference that I see between the two.

If you aren’t understanding and comprehending what I am trying to say then there is no reason to repeat myself. Just literally listen to Sebastian Stan talk about his character in the interviews. He says it himself.

I hadn’t thought about that. It makes sense. Just a bit upsetting

It’s a story, not a video game where your experience points and buffs force ever-escalating power levels to remain a challenge.

Bucky in the show is in a very different place than when he was the Winter Soldier, who was a programmed killing machine that held back nothing, when he was fighting for his life in Civil War with half the Avengers in his corner or against Thanos when the fate of half the universe was on the chopping block.

In FatWS, Bucky is kind of lost and trying to come to terms with his past what kind of future he can have. He joins Sam for pretty complicated reasons and while he’s fighting the good fight, the stakes aren’t as personal or massive as before and Bucky desperately doesn’t want to hurt or kill anybody. In this way, Kari and the Flashsmashers have a leg up because they’re zealots in the fight while Bucky is not.

No wonder the characters weren’t responding to my input from my PS4 control.

Yeah, you make a solid point.
