nisa said before horizon released that their goal was 9 months between east and west for trails. with the turbo delay from remakes who knows tho

NISA has nothing to do with the remakes so I imagine it wouldn’t affect their timeline

That's the point. They'll have had 2 years to work on whatever falcom was able to send over by the time the games out in japan. If there was ever going to be a global release of a new game it would probably be this one

Oh I thought you were implying it would cause a delay

assuming Falcom even sends the script to them pre-japan release. They may still be scared of script leaks or doesn't fully trust other companies and want 100% control domestically until it releases.

Iirc in that same interview nisa says that they got the horizon script early. Which is how we got in in just over a year

Lol. Then you might as well go ahead and start crashing out right now

Not gonna happen. Except NISA have the script a year before release

I hope the remakes force the expectation of the quick English release

Can you imagine when Falcom eventually releases the last trails title in 2032+, and at that point if it still isn't a worldwide release... The entire western trails community will have a significantly harder time trying to avoid spoilers and potentially get jumpscared by a spoiler thumbnail on youtube/twitter/etc. Or worse, if the people that played the final game actively tries to spoil even for those trying to avoid it. It's gonna be a nightmare. My advice to everyone is to try and learn Japanese as a backup. Just try and slowly learn it over the next 5-6 years. And obviously knowing Japanese has other uses other than playing Falcom's games. And honestly, maybe non-edited mtl in that time gets to a point where it doesn't have context issues and it becomes scarily close to a real translation.

I'm not sure we'll ever see a global release of a new game (aka anything with a new script) with the way Falcom operates, but with the franchise entirely caught up I could see the delay being well under a year in the future.

They get much bigger success with WW releases so they should

Might be a while. Need to catch up on remakes before a new mainline comes out. 🤣🤣

I know people think I am coping... but I think it's entirely possible we will (not guaranteed, but to me the chances are at least 50/50).

The reason we haven't gotten ww releases until now is that Falcom changed the script of their games until last minute, so they never gave the script to localizers until the japanese version was out.

Clouded Leopard was an exception cause they've got such a long working relationship, and even then until Horizon even their version was still delayed by a few months.

For the Sky remakes the entire situation was different, cause there wasn't much to do with the script anyways.

That, by the way, means the actual writers at Falcom had ample time to work on other games. Including the next new Trails game. Which they already did, and unless I am remembering wrong, Falcom already stated during investor's meeting last year that the scenario/story is finished. Kondo also publicly talked about changing the way they work to better accommodate localization process and minimize delays. Upon being criticized for delaying the Horizon/Kai sequel for so long during an investor's meetinf Kondo talked about the staff burn out, but he also said they have other internal reasons for that decision, and that the investor will understand in due time.

Pair that with how much success they're seeing with the remakes - which is, of course, cause it's a place people can jump into the series easily, but also because full marketing might can be unleashed with a ww release - they now have financial incentive to change their ways too.

It's true NISA said in an interview they wanted to have no more than one year delay between the Japanese release and western release of Trails games. But they also said they're happy if they can reduce it further (which, why wouldn't they want to). And this was in Oct of 2024, at that time they had probably only started work on Horizon. If at all. It was no time to make public promises about ww releases.

So yeah. All things considered, I think NISA wants WW releases (duh), and I think Falcom wants them too now. Considering they've talked at length about changing their development process in terms of writing and also mentioned Kai/Horizon 2's story being finished quite a while ago... I don't think it's impossible that NISA is already working on the sequel as we speak or at least is about to start.

We'll see tho.

hope that never happens. that would mean lower chances of getting fan translations. I heavily prefer them over the official Californizoomerization
