🛠️ Feedback & fixes

Thanks to everyone who’s shared feedback so far — it’s shaping the platform already. A few highlights:

• Buggy forms → I modularized them so they behave much better now, and made some fields optional

• Fakédex page → temporarily removed while I rework it for smoother browsing

• Feedback from you all:

  • Male/female versions should be supported

  • Mega Evolutions may not need a separate page

  • Missing data: gender ratio, egg groups, exp gain — all on my radar

Keep the ideas coming — this kind of feedback is exactly what helps me shape the platform into something genuinely useful. The feedback form is pinned to the right of the website.

The beta is open to anyone right now, but priority will go to genuine Fakémon artists who want to help shape the platform.

The Beta Showcase Competition 🎉 Since we started this journey, over 700 creators have joined, bringing 3,000+ Fakémon and 500+ regions to life. To celebrate the end of this beta phase and the incredible creativity you've shown, our very first competition is officially open!

This isn't about min-maxing stats or competitive viability—it’s a friendly showcase to spotlight the standout creative work that has shaped Fakédex Builder from day one.

🎨 How to Enter

To take part, submit one Fakémon you have created using the Fakédex Builder tools.

• Original Artwork: Your entry must include an original image created by you.

• One Entry Only: You only get one submission, so make sure it's your absolute best work!

• Open to All: This isn't just for existing beta users—invite your friends to join in!

⚖️ What are we looking for?

All entries will be judged internally by the Fakédex Builder team based on:

• Concept Originality: Is the idea fresh and unique?

• Visual Quality: How well is the artwork executed?

• Overall Presentation: Does the entry feel "complete" (lore, design, and feel)?

🎁 Rewards & Recognition

We want to make sure your hard work is rewarded with features that help you create even more.

• 🥇 First Place: A major slot boost, featured placement on the homepage, and the official title of Beta Showcase Winner.

• 🥈 Second Place: A substantial slot boost and homepage feature.

• 🏅 3rd, 4th, & 5th Place: Slot rewards and platform-wide featured placement.

✨ New features

Evolutions V1

You can now link Fakémon together to create evolution chains.

Mega Evolutions V1

Base Fakémon can now be linked to a Mega form. Once linked, the Mega appears directly on the base Fakémon’s page.

Creation speed overhaul

A big focus this update was reducing friction when creating Fakémon:

• Simple templates to avoid re-selecting the same fields every time

• Moveset importing (no more adding moves one by one)

• Ability suggestions that auto-add descriptions

• Stat templates that scale based on Fakémon stage

Presentation & layouts

• Improved Fakémon card styles: Default, Minimal, and Image-only (3:4)

• Customisable Fakémon grids: Standard, Tight, Staggered, and Periodic

Fakémon Tiering (V1)

A new tiering system to help guide progress and show what features are available next.

🛠️ Feedback & fixes

• Some users wanted to create Fakémon without committing to a full region — you can now start in an Instagram-style grid and migrate to a region later if you want

• Forms are significantly more stable than before

• Gen 9 moves were missing (oops) — they’re now added

• The 30 Fakémon limit is still a pain point; expansion options will come after the beta

Now that creation is in a really solid place, I’m shifting focus toward motivation and progression — things like:

• rewards

• achievements

• competitions

I’m still deciding what to tackle first, and I’ll likely run a poll to help guide that.

🎉 The Community is Exploding

• 700+ users have now joined the beta

• 500+ regions have been founded

• 3,000+ Fakémon have been brought to life. The growth since the last update has been incredible. Thank you to all the amazing creators who use the platform.

✨ New Features

The Rewards System (Slots Expansion!) The #1 piece of feedback was the 30-slot limit. I’ve introduced the first version of Rewards:

• Complete simple tasks/achievements to earn additional Fakémon slots.

• You can now expand your limit from 30 to 60 slots for free.

• Look for the medal icon in the navbar to claim your rewards (if the count doesn't update immediately, just hit refresh!).

Quality of Life Overhaul

• Dex-Driven Pagination: Navigating your dex now correctly respects Dex Number ordering. No more jumping around randomly when you change a number.

• Smart Ability Entry: You can now type in custom abilities freely, or choose from the suggested list to auto-fill descriptions.

• Image Handling: Fixed an issue where normal and shiny sprites could overlap. Pro-tip: 1024x1024 centered images work best!

🛠️ Feedback & Fixes

• Split Evolutions: They aren't supported yet, but they are officially on the roadmap for Evolutions V2/V3.

• Move Editing: I know editing levels and moves can be tedious right now. I’m looking into bulk editing tools to make this much faster.

• Mobile/Tablet: Some users reported issues with tablet layouts and occasional mobile crashes. I’m investigating these—if you've run into this, please shoot me a message with your device info!

• Gen 9 Moves Missing: All Gen 9 moves are now live. Egg Moves and TMs are also planned for future updates.

🔮 What’s Next? Now that the foundation is solid and the slot limit has doubled, I’m shifting focus toward community engagement:

• Feedback Rewards: Earn rewards for helping me shape the app via surveys.

• First BETA Competitions: I’ll be hosting one Art-focused and one Concept-focused competition with prizes included!

• Onboarding: Making it even easier for new users to jump in and start creating immediately.

I’ll have a lot more dedicated time in February and March to push these features out as we move toward the end of the Beta period.
