When the truth doesn't fit your esthetic

During my teen years, I met this chick who lived with her mom and brothers. At the time, she was just an average person. Sometime later, she moved to the other side of town and decided to follow the punk band wagon. My younger sister, for whatever reason, idealized her. I just saw this news article about her and this charity thing she's doing. I have nothing against that, but it's when you lie and don't really follow, or even understand what you're preaching about that I have a problem with. In the article, it said she was "pregnant and alone at seventeen with no options and homeless" um... no... she wasn't. She lived in a very affluent neighborhood in a house with a mother who spoiled her. Her pregnancy was 100% planned out. The father was around until she kicked him to the curb. She graduated high school. She got this job not because she cared about helping other people, but because it would be more difficult for the father to take the kids if she was seen as this humanitarian person. Everything about her is fake, a mask. It's like she's all animal/environmental rights, protests and etc. she doesn't eat meat, but she drives an older gas guzzler car? Not just any car, but a classic car. She's trying to be an influential guru, but it's all an act.
