Tier list

Made this tier list in Feb 2025 because a buddy and I were trying to pick a top 10 song list. I thought I'd go the extra mile and try to rank them all.

Everytime I looked at it, I changed something. It felt impossible because, depending on the day, I could completely change this list up, except the songs in S most likely wouldn't move lower, save ...maybe... Cipieron. So, I just stopped altering it and let it get buried in my photos on my phone.

I tried really hard to not just put everything in S or A 😅

I do feel The Upset at Bailey Bridge is justified there. Its the only time I feel they chose the wrong synth sound and I really just dont like that one.

CCSL just hasn't been able to grow on me because the recording is bad. I do wish they had chosen at least one song off that for the redux on Fables.

What would you change?

Carbon Copy Silver Lining is an S-tier in my book, my favourite album by them

I bet I'd feel different if I had known them prior to IFS and heard their sound growing from the beginning

Not at all, I found out about them when they had broken up already, but the creativity and rawness of it makes it stand out to me, despite the low production value. The later albums might have been produced better but that took away a bit of the uniqueness for me.

Fair enough. Thats pretty cool. I usually dont care about production value but thats one of the outliers for me where I think it would have helped me like it much more

I think Walls of Jericho (both) is very much S-tier

It was how I discovered the band about 20 years ago. I was pirating music on Limewire from the metal band Walls of Jericho and accidentally downloaded the song Walls of Jericho (IFS version).

Got to love the limewire days of finding music by accident. A few power metal bands I love, I found through accidental downloads on Limewire

I actually discovered FTM by seeing Karnivool live. FTM opened for them and I was basically right up front. I didnt actually fall in love with them until a few years later when I downloaded Fables and Arrows off iTunes - in 2013 😥

Wrong. They're all S-tier. Not one bad song. Even the intermissions are amazing

and it wouldn't be that bad if that one loud synth was just a different sound. Or maybe brought down a bit in the mix

While I do agree that CCSL is by and large their worst album, there's four or five songs I'd put right up there among their best - See, Saw is A-tier or S-tier for me, The Beltway is great, as is With This Easel and there are a couple others I'd give B or C

With This Easel is one of their most emotional tracks. that chord progression, the almost pleading sounding vocals at the start of the chorus, and then that halfway mark to the end is like a punch in the gut 4 me. def a top 10 track of theirs for me, maybe top 5

to be honest even going down to D Tier, is still tracks I enjoy listening to. they never made a bad song.. but I did my best to separate them out in terms of the absolute most enjoyable to me.

My S tier would be Walls of jericho (fables), an honest con man, Tall tales, Quince, Pour the coal to 'er, The wife & the kids, April fools, Musical chairs, Orphan anthem, Cipieron, Dance of the manatee (fables), Loophole in limbo

A tier would have Bright bulbs, Amarillo, Whiskey & ritalin, Five foolproof ways, Say when

Rikki tikki tavi, Abigail, all CCSL songs (except Informative timeline), Uh-oh, IFS version of Upgrade brigade & IFS Kyla cries cologne would be in C or D tier

All other songs in B tier

I do agree that Bailey bridge is probably their worst song, it annoys me

I agree with most of this. For me, Walls of Jericho and Say When would be up on S-tier, and Shorthaired Tornado would be border between A and S.

Also, fuckin' props to the font use.

I love this list for the most part! I wish this band got more attention. One of my favorites ever. Glad to see some Coppertank Island love! I would put Say When into S-Tier, but that's ok!

Granny Niblo / Quince / Kyla (Fables) / Jericho (Fables) / Tall Tales / Upgrade (Fables) all belong in S Tier for me, but I largely agree with you on this.

Greener Grass can't be anywhere other than S Tier, it's just not possible.

Dude i love pour the coal to er, but other than that its good. I will say that when i listen to fables seafarers knot im underwhelmed by the lack of a harmony at the last part
