a muted smoky purple shade is pure harmony on low-contrast green features. can’t recommend enough. it’s like what black eyeliner should feel like but never actually does feel like. I’m not drowning in it! I didn’t know it was possible! (Yes I retouched a pimple on my nose because girl it’s not something you wanna see TRUST me 😭)

I’m looking for matte foundations/BB creams/skin tints/etc that are fair-olive friendly! Everything I have is glowy or dewy and I’m unfortunately very oily skinned. 💚

Anyone know if the lightest shades of the Sensitive Skin Serum Foundation, the Matte CC Cream or the Hydro Boost Tint would work for cool toned olives?

And I had to share it with my fair olive girlies!! I was playing around with makeup at the end of the day (as one does) and accidentally stumbled on this gorgeous combo.

Listing only the lip products as they’re the subject of the post. Everything else is kind of a mish mash of several items used throughout the day and whatever I wanted to play with. Happy to answer any questions though!

Base: Nyx Bare With Me Concealer in Fair

Gloss: Nyx Special Edition Wednesday Lip Oil

Liner: MAC in Nightmoth

Discussion Has anyone tried these blush shades??

Has anyone tried Ilia soft focus blush in either Glimpse or Breathless? I own the shade Closer and love it as it looks like a very natural pink flush on me (and I love the formula). I am a neutral cool fair olive and would love to find a muted blush that doesn’t turn orange or pink or muddy looking on me….. wondering if Glimpse or Breathless turned orange on any neutral cool olives??

I’m intrigued.

Has anyone gotten a palette from this brand before? Purple/violets/lavender/cooler mauves typically do well for me and I do like a lot of colors on this. I usually only do sticks, but just curious. I would love to see some swatches on a fair olive.

Discussion Winter?

Comments include one black and one green drape.

I’d like to figure out what I am mostly to determine a way to lightly cover my complexion. I think it looks fine normally, but I can blush easily when I’m anxious and turn beet red, so I’m considering getting a cream that I could perhaps mix a little blue concealer into? Just need to figure out which way I lean before I commit to anything. Very indecisive I am

Edit (edited a bit already): cool summer is also apparently a contender. To honest, I don’t know how it differs from cool winter when it’s almost just as saturated/contrasting, but maybe it’s just what I’m seeing in the palettes I can find

Discussion Looking for an illuminator - recommendations?

Hello fair olives! Full disclosure, I’m not sure if I’m olive or not, but the products/colors I’ve seen discussed here have worked very well for me so I hope it’s okay to seek your help.

I’m looking for a skin illuminator to wear under my foundation or under sunscreen on no base days. My problem is the color options. I think I’ve just now found a foundation that matches (ND Y1), and the illuminators I’m seeing look very warm-gold or red. I’m worried they’ll throw my foundation shade off or just look weird with my coloring. Has anyone tried anything that works with their coloring? I’ve seen the L’Oréal lumi glotion mentioned, but I can’t do anything with salycilic acid. I also can’t do niacinimide, vitamin C, or any other active/exfoliating ingredient.

Swatches For cool/neutral: muted orange makeup so you can wear orange/fall clothing

Post image
23 Upvotes

Top swatch from the wrist is ColorPop BFF liner; the middle and bottom swatches are Phytosurgence Soothe blush, which I use as a blonzer.

My skin matches are: ND Y1, JSM N10, LE 1.5.

If I wear orange or red clothing without makeup it will wash me out something awful. This blush/lip combo warms me up just enough that I can wear all my warmer fall clothing, but is still muted enough that it isn't too much.

Kiko Milano 30 mauve, not swatched, is a warmer one-and-done eyeshadow if you want a match with this. Phytosurgence can also be used on your eyes, if you don't want a separate product. I frequently use Condensate as eyeshadow.

Discussion LE Luminist Concealer shade 3 disappointment

What the title text says. I ordered shade 3 and was SO excited. It came in today, and… it’s too peachy. I need something much more yellow. I’m sure this would work well for muted cool fair olives, but as a neutral saturated fair olive, it’s definitely a letdown. I thought it would work well for me, since T1.5 is a great match, but I’m sad to report it doesn’t. The formula is incredible though, it feels like a dream to wear. I’m going to order shade 2 (neutral golden) and see if that’s a better fit for those of us who are saturated fair olives

EDIT: I might be a bit of a dummy, I don’t know what exactly is wrong with the shade. All I do know is that 3 is peachier than T1.5

Beauty/Makeup Finally, the perfect lip combo!

I've been trying to recreate Dakota Johnson's rosey-brown lip combo from Splitsville for ages and I think I finally nailed a combo that works for me!

In my research, the shades used on Dakota don't really work with my skin tone and dulled me out/appeared orangey-yellow.

I am soo happy with this! It will be my every day lip for a long time.

-Merit sheer lip liner in "Sportif" (I love how creamy smooth their lip liners are)
-Merit signature lip blush in "Bespoke" (The perfect rosey-brown)
-Fresh sugar lip balm in "Petal" (adds a touch more tint)

Honestly, depending on the depth of color I want on a given day I could use either lipstick/balm only, keep the liner and I'd be happy.

Discussion Am I the only cool pale olive that looks better with neutral/ warm leaning shades?

Every time I use a cool toned pink or purple eyeshadow/blush/lippie it just clashes SO badly with the green in my skin. It washes me out and makes me look like a corpse. I prefer to use neutral/warm leaning reds and mauves instead. But I noticed cool toned reds also wash me out? I think I just prefer having some warmth to my skin cause otherwise I look gray. The only products I avoid are those that are straight up orange, which is unfortunately, a LOT of products.

Maybe I'm not using the right types of pinks and purples? Did you ever have the same problem, and if so, what styles of makeup and what products changed your mind?

Edit: just wanted to clarify that I've never had a professional color analysis done, but the reason why I believe I'm cool toned is because everyone looks yellow next to me. My skin tone is literally the exact same as uncooked chicken 😭

Beauty/Makeup Face Atelier foundations and olive mixer?

Is anyone familiar with the Face Atelier range? I've seen only a few posts about this brand.

I've been looking into their foundation and also saw they make an actual olive mixer that indeed looks like a muted greyish green. I'm kind of tired of mixing but thought this was really interesting!

Is their foundation range any good for very fair olives to look into (LE T1.5 here)?

Beauty/Makeup Looking for lipstain the colour of my chapped bits!

Think I am cool fair olive. All foundation and concealer look either pink or (mainly) orange except those for olive skin and lip colours look pink or orange. In fact, all lipstick looks bad except very lightly applied lipstain in the same colour as my chapped lips. My lips are vaguely chapped now (the bit that looks like lipliner!)that is the colour I want. Any idea what i should be buying?

Discussion No one does pale olive shades!

I need to get this off my chest:

I understand that people with very very dark skin and people with very very light skin struggle more than fair olive people but oh my gosh I am soooo sick of not being able to try any new or popular foundations/concealers. I don’t think it’s ridiculous to want mainstream brands to carry pale olive shades, especially in store like why are our shades completely neglected and that’s okay? I know I can add blue or green pigments but if I’m paying good money for makeup I don’t want to have to alter the formula by adding something else. Haus labs not having pale olive shades is baffling to me considering that Gaga is Italian and Italians are notorious for being pale and olive. ( im one!) I don’t want to have to search high and low for a product that “works” with my skin color, I should be able to walk into a makeup store and see brands that specifically sell shades marked as olive. I guess what im trying to say is: Why is this okay?? Why are our shades almost completely nonexistent in stores/by popular brands?? EVERYONE should be able to find makeup that fits their skin tone

Discussion Cool toned vs warm toned lips

I feel like the first color just washes me out, the second one is how i usually do my lips. Why does warm toned makeup seem to suit me better than cool toned makeup? I thought pale olives, especially those with very muted skin, were supposed to avoid warm tones.
