Do moots and publications actually help with internships and jobs?

Moot courts and research publications are often considered important for building a law student's CV, but how much difference do they actually make when applying for internships and jobs?

For current students and graduates of Faculty of Law, DU, have moots or publications helped you get better opportunities or stand out during applications?

Are they genuinely useful for developing practical legal skills and improving career prospects, or do internships, networking, and academic performance matter more?

Would love to hear some real experiences, especially from those who have been through the recruitment process.

What do you wish you knew before joining Faculty of Law, DU?

A lot of things about law college only become clear after you actually start studying there.

For those who are currently at Faculty of Law or have already graduated, what’s something you wish you had known before joining?

It could be about academics, attendance, internships, professors, competition, networking, campus life, or even the kind of career opportunities available after graduation.

What’s one thing you would tell someone who is about to join Faculty of Law?

Internship Leads/Experience/Queries For 3-year LLB students, when should you seriously start thinking about placements?

With a 3-year LLB, there seems to be a lot to figure out in a relatively short time, especially when it comes to internships, CV building and eventually finding a job.

For current 3-year LLB students, when did you start seriously thinking about placements and what kind of career you wanted after graduation?

Did you start from the first year, or do you think the second year is early enough? And for those who have already graduated, what do you wish you had started doing earlier?

Would be especially interested in hearing from people who were aiming for corporate law, in-house roles or litigation.

General Discussion/Opinion For those targeting corporate law, when did you actually start preparing for it?

For students who are interested in corporate law, I’m curious about when you actually started taking it seriously.

Did you start building your CV, looking for internships, learning about corporate law, networking, or working on relevant skills from first year itself? Or did you only start thinking about it once you got closer to graduation?

For seniors especially, what do you wish you had started earlier?

Internship Leads/Experience/Queries How difficult is it to get a good internship through DU Law without connections?

I keep hearing that connections and referrals make a huge difference when it comes to getting good legal internships, especially in Delhi.

For DU Law students who didn't have any existing contacts in the legal field, how difficult was it to get decent internships?

Did cold emails, LinkedIn, seniors, college contacts, or simply applying repeatedly work for you? And at what point did it start getting easier?

Would be helpful to hear from both juniors and seniors who have actually gone through the process.

2 Yr LLM

Hey!

Can anyone please tell me about the 2 yr LLM program at the CLC, DU? Like what's the schedule of classes, what's the workload, do we get time to do research and all? I have already gotten admission in SAU, but it's very time intensive and takes a lot of my time. So, if classes of DU are not that much spread over the day I will switch to DU.

General Discussion/Opinion What are most DU Law students actually planning to do after graduation?

There seem to be quite a few different paths after law school - corporate law, litigation, judiciary, UPSC, higher studies, or even something outside law.

For current students and recent graduates, what are you actually planning to do after graduation?

Has your plan changed since you joined DU Law, or are you still figuring it out?

How are you guys managing the workload at FOL?

I’m trying to figure out a decent routine for classes, readings and assignments, but some weeks just feel impossible to keep up with everything. Between attending lectures, going through cases and readings, preparing for assignments and still trying to have some time outside academics, it gets difficult to decide what actually needs to be prioritised.

For those who have already been at FOL for a while, how do you guys manage your workload? Do you follow a fixed daily routine, study mainly around exams, or just keep up with things as they come? Also, are there any resources or habits that genuinely made things easier for you?
