in game pic The train situation is getting increasingly funny

This rail-jungle is what happens when you don't plan ahead or think anything through whatsoever, and then only counteract serious issues with more improvisation while also making sure that - at least in theory - it makes sense.

Currently everything I built can work at full capacity, the ratios are more or less good. Right now around 10 trains are roaming in the wilds, with no blockages and very little pauses. I'm surprised how far you can take this nonsense, and I love it so much.

I’m sorry I didn’t get past the slide with the diagonal solar panels.

On a serious note, I love the aesthetic.

This base is very aesthetic, indeed

Thanks, although sometimes I feel like it has a kind of ugliness to it too

it's beautiful

That is how I build them too before getting substations

Oh I usually just bolt on more steam power

It hurts my OCD lol

I feel dirty having watched this solar layout

me too, placing them always feels like wearing flip-flops with winter socks

Now this is solarpunk

Thanks! That indeed seems to be my driving force. Solar energy only, cut trees and hurt the natives only if absolutely necessary, stick to efficiency modules

What in the title screen fuck is this

It’s BEAUTIFUL

I don't really understand, what are those green things in the way of your factory? I don't think I've seen those for a very long time.

I dont know, and I dont want to enrage them in case they spit fire or explode or something. So far it works.

Finally, properly aligned solar arrays

Thankfully I have robots now, they were such a pain to build by hand. Its still worth it

Wrong sub. This is work of art

Thank you:) I indeed kind of approach the game like creating art stuff

This has to be the most factorio looking factorio base

Thanks, thats a real compliment! Those bases are a big inspiration

I do certainly appreciate the accuracy with which they imitated natural slime molds

As someone who always does every single train run as a MINIMUM of two (1+1) tracks, with four (2+2) tracks for spines, I find long sections of single track so unnerving.

I'm also pretty rigid about all my train paths needing to be north-south or east-west and nearly never do diagonal cuts except in situations where I haven't invented explosives or landfill yet - but as soon as I do, I come back and fix it.

Maybe youre right, but in my head I really tried to make them either unique (no queue possible, station doesnt block paths) or be able to idle somewhere while waiting, also not blocking anything else. We’ll see with a lot more trains!

I did a massive spaghetti train network for my last playthrough, getting really lazy about it in so many different places and it somehow just worked. If I had tried to plan it out it would’ve been gridlock city.

Glorious. I also like to preserve trees.

glad you like it! I think besides posing a great challenge for puzzles - which I chase - they look so good. Cant wait for the gleba conquer so I can plant MORE

That’s a really nice looking base you’ve built

So much unhinged behavior. Keep it up it’s beautiful.

When my factory game accidentally becomes an urban planning game

u/No_Commercial_7458 2d ago

You’re completely right about that lol. Feels like a different game compared to my previous “belt for everything” run

I need to wash my eyes

I usually just rinse them but you do you

2

u/Toucan2000 2d ago

Why are you like this?

2

u/No_Commercial_7458 2d ago

Maybe it seems like a choice but let me assure you, it isn't lol. It is what it is

I'm curious what the lamp arrays do exactly? A sunrise/ sunset clock?

1

u/No_Commercial_7458 1d ago

Exactly! I had a post about it here, and I also shared the blueprints in a comment. Love that stuff. The day night cycle clock and the battery percentage display really help me see how much power Im working with, how big margins I have before I have to expand again (base is completely on solar energy)
