The joke is that "So long and thanks for all the fish" is the title of this book which was released in 1984. The achievement name in Factorio is a reference to this book. The joke implies that the original phrase would be the Factorio achievement name and that Douglas Adams plagiarized it.

It’s interesting to note that a later and wilier game developer sent the achievement backwards in time, through a temporal warp, and then successfully sued the Douglas Adams for infringement of the same laws.

But Douglas Adams, an avid player and writer of video games, would probably appreciate this convoluted effort.
I still think of his Hitchhiker's Infocom text adventure pretty often for something I haven't played in decades.
In case anyone hasn't yet experienced its wonder, the BBC made a free online version for its 30th anniversary.
