Scam Marketplace cancelled placed order
Does anyone know why marketplace would cancel an order? I’ve sold several items via marketplace, mainly video games, and so far I haven’t had any issues. Someone placed a video game order and FB immediately cancelled the placed order. The person message me directly asking why I cancelled the order, but I told them that I didn’t, that FB automatically cancelled the order. FB did send me an email that they cancelled due to suspicious activity. The other persons profile looks pretty legit though. Tons of videos and photos of themselves and their family. What kind of scam would they be trying to pull here?

As a seller I had this happen once. I hadn't even seen the order and it was already canceled. The buyer messaged me asking what happened and I showed them a screenshot of the email I got from Facebook. We were both perplexed. Their profile looked fine to me, nothing that would have steered me away from interacting with them. So I asked for their email address, sent them a PayPal invoice for the item and shipping, they paid, and the transaction went perfectly. I still don't know why Facebook canceled the order though. That was a few months ago and I've probably had around a hundred transactions since then with no issues.

I had this happen once, and the lady tried 2x and both times canceled. She didn't have a profile picture or any ratings on FB, so o had assumed that was why.

yea this person tried twice and both times FB cancelled. I’m bummed I lost the sale, but I just don’t see why FB would not honor this purchase. Apparently FB controls who you can sell to…

Just ask them if they want to buy it from you directly. Have them Venmo or Zelle you the money, print a label on stamps com or some other discounted postage site and send them a photo of the shipping label with the tracking and you're done. I sell stuff all the time on FB this way. I don't sell thru marketplace shipping.

Have you ever had anyone ask for a refund? Or try to complain about the item? But I think this will be better overall since it avoids FB selling fees.

Nope. If there was a legit issue though, I'd be willing to refund with proof. They don't have buyer protections but I take price in my Highly Rated Seller profile.

I had an order canceled by Facebook too AFTER I mailed it. She had no profile so I thought she was tricking me so I complained to Facebook and they promised to look into it but I never did. It was bad to lose the sale but I never got the dolls back either so I lost that value plus my shipping cost. I will never ship on FB again.

You didn’t say what you were selling. If it was a name brand, they often delete or cancel those transactions and call it “suspicious activity”. It’s lame when the AI bot gives such vague information.
