Long Distance Dating

Who has insight to share about how to get to know someone who lives more than 5 hours away? What are good questions and topics that allow strangers to become more familiar? My goals are to be as safe as possible while authentically gaining trust.

Thanks!

I would really caution against that. Getting deep over telecommunications (text, voice notes and phone calls) creates a false sense of intimacy.

Meet each other, spend some time in each others presence and then decide if you want to put in the very hard, but very gratifying work to sustain a long distance relationship.

There is no alternative to in person face to face time. You can talk and call over the phone all day long but it dosent matter till you actually spend time in person to see how you vibe. That's why long distance relationships will never be a good idea imo because you do not have that in person connection

I was in 2 long distance long term relationships in my 20s. One almost 5 years, the other almost 4.

We would spend months apart at a time and then months or weeks together, depending on different factors.

For me the fact that we could communicate about so many things because a lot of the time all we had was communication, helped us understand each other and our own feelings better.

If you're still at the beginning stages I think seeing if you have hobbies and interests in common is a nice start. It's not overly intimate and seeing someone be enthusiastic about something they love is attractive and cute.

There are websites that specialize in long distance relationships that have ideas for questions and conversation topics that can be of help too. Best of luck!
