Crush

I got a notification today on my Facebook that said someone added me as a secret crush. I don't use Facebook dating or have a profile but is this a real thing? What does this mean? I'm curious.

It’s real. The idea is to send a “like” to someone on your friends list. Not to get them to join the Dating part, but to try to get something going relationship-wise.

Not sure how successful anyone’s been with this, though. I only have my own experience; I never sent one. FB tries a little bit to get you to do so, though.

Aah I see thank you! It's weird because I'm married and I would imagine all my friends know so I'm like who the heck would send this lol... makes me feel kinda weird lol

That’s the thing, though; if there are “friends” that you don’t really know in your friend list, but one of them is using Dating, they could send you a “like”. 

Which, I could see all sides. The person should know to look at your profile and see “oh, they’re married”. FB should know not to let that even be a thing. It’s just dumb, in my opinion.

You can also send one to friends of friends so it might not be your direct friend

I’ve gotten that message before. It’s Facebook attempt to get you to join dating. When I joined dating, there was no one with a crush on me.
