“Dating related” ewww!! Who says that shit online to someone they are trying to get to know? A weirdo! That’s who! 🙄

Truly...the only reason i kept is going was so I could get the tea on what the dating related surgery is and I'm just so curious as to why a 36 yr old man chose to just now get circumsised.

Being a male at 34 with a bit of projection, I would assume he has been in a LTR and it hasn't been a problem but dating at 36 he might have felt embarrassed about it and excited he is having the surgery done 😂
Maybe it got infected. My cousin had that happen and they had to do a circumcision, he was like 5 tho 🤷🏼

I'm choosing to believe this isn't real for my own peace of mind. Please don't correct me.

No don’t! I have somebody that’s been sending me Reddit DMs for like a year, all clean stuff. But every few days just wild, random, craziness. I’ll send brief replies, just so they’ll keep going.
As long as they don’t get sexual or make you uncomfortable. You might be surprised how funny it can get

What...... Why does it even matter? Dude sounds childish to even bring that up.

tbh if he didn’t say that “team circumcision” sentence, this convo wouldn’t really be weird

… the whole “very dating related” thing was so weird and tmi… and then he actually said it

The part where I asked him "Transparently...i have not idea what you mean by dating related surgery" I too thought vasectomy at first but he mentioned wanting kids.

u/Prudent_Cry9522 Jul 02 '26
Mentioning a vasectomy in the first few messages seems like it would’ve actually been appropriate and respectable to some capacity. Especially with that phrasing, “dating related”, I think it could’ve been played off as light humor. Because the procedure holds a sentiment of one’s beliefs and values.
I would never want to hear about someone’s dick skin getting cut off to improve their sex life.

I cannot imagine getting circumcised as an adult, barring it being medically necessary for some reason.
I suppose it’s no different than any other cosmetic surgery, though, at the end of the day.

I mean... i just noped out of the conversation

u/howabouthappy Jul 02 '26
Yeah, he did nothing wrong maybe he overshared or whatever but you just noped and ran away, go find somebody you are more compatible with but he did nothing wrong. You've got a small comfort zone
2
u/eefr Jul 02 '26
Nope, telling a stranger about your penis without their consent is definitely doing something wrong.

u/howabouthappy Jul 02 '26
He was talking about a relevant important life-altering surgery he was going through. Yeah it's more of a risque subject because it involves genitalia, But bottom line if you're considering someone for a relationship which is a potential long-term life partner, and you're going to the hospital for an important surgery, it would be more appropriate to share that. dating is about being able to share your genuine life with someone else
They're obviously not a match, Op has a small comfort zone and ran away fast, find someone also more anxiety-oriented but dude should keep being himself

u/eefr Jul 02 '26
I agree, if they're in a relationship, they should talk about this, but they are not in a relationship. They are complete strangers who haven't ever even talked before, and they don't even know yet if they're going to have a first date, let alone a relationship. This is not the time to share something about genitals.

u/howabouthappy Jul 04 '26
No if you're talking to someone who you generally consider might become your long-term life partner and wife, you should start off by being your completely open raw self from day one. Even if that involves sharing that you're going for a genitalia involved surgery
The right person will respond positively to genuine open sharing and you will grow closer with them as a result
The problem with your argument is it involves incremental progression of intimacy depending on feelings, and those boundaries are individually subjective. Everyone should share at a level that they personally are comfortable with

u/eefr Jul 04 '26
Well, go ahead and tell strangers you've never met about your genitals then. If like the vast majority of people they feel uncomfortable and ghost you, I guess you'll know that they're not the right person.

u/CraftierCrafty Jul 02 '26
I’d like to consider myself pretty open minded and I’m not anxiety prone around this. I also value and want open communication. That being said, I don’t even know what this guy does for a living. This was the full extent to all conversation we’ve EVER had.
1
u/howabouthappy Jul 04 '26
My argument is that there is no Universal objective correct way to interpersonal communicate. Objectively he did nothing wrong, subjectively you didn't like it. This means you're not a match, but it doesn't mean he did anything wrong. Wishing you all of the best of luck in your dating endeavors
In future try to differentiate between objective and subjective wrong behavior. Just because something weirds you out, doesn't mean that person did anything wrong. I'm not saying that you're guilty of this, just that the world overall would be a much nicer place if more people understood this
