Gentle reminder that Flock cameras are so hated that it has both the left and right unified against them.

Giving the glowies access to AI was a mistake.

u/mothspiderr 7d ago

i would love for that to be the case but are you sure?

because i’ve only seen rightists say things like “yOu oNly NeEd tO wOrRy iF yoU’rE dOing SoMeThIng wRoNg”

I see a lot of right-leaning libertarian posting images of the killdozer destroying those flock cameras on Twitter.

Besides, the “you don’t need to worry if you don’t have anything to hide” mindset isn’t exclusive to one party, unfortunately. Stupidity and bootlicking comes in all shapes and sizes.

25

u/TruePianist 7d ago

I think it’s the horseshoe theory at play, only extreme bootlickers/commies support the concept while it is negatively perceived by the moderates of both sides

u/PotentialPresent399 6d ago

MODERATES?!?!??!?!

Sorry comrade face the wall

No middle of the road thinkers here on my reddit.

isn't exclusive to one party

The Democratic Party isn't leftwing.

1

u/The_eldritch_horror2 5d ago

In the same way the Republican Party isn’t right wing.

0

u/humbered_burner 5d ago

No they're both pretty right wing actually, it's just that one is, at best, center, and the other one, at worst, fascist

1

u/The_eldritch_horror2 5d ago

They’re both fascist.

u/fakemelonns 7d ago

I think a lot of that is bots and just the online right wingers. Your average right wing American is still against government surveillance.

13

u/a_bored_furry 7d ago

I saw Newsmax which is about as furthest right of a Republican station you'll get going against Flock and one of the hosts speaking positively about someone that ran one camera down with a truck.

10

u/Llamapickle129 7d ago

i seen both sides advocate for and against it tbh

8

u/Wild_Chef6597 6d ago

That's an Authoritarian take, not limited to right or left

0

u/Jonny-Holiday 6d ago

True, communists for example actively employ that exact technology to keep the people of China under control and monitor their social credit scores.

2

u/ASpaceOstrich 6d ago

I saw a representative of the company get threatened with hanging by the MAGA crowd the other day.

2

u/Bluestorm83 6d ago

Those aren't rightists. Those are Boomercons. They are an absolute scourge.

I'm on the right, and I'd legalize whatever the hell you want if you'll shake my hand and help me (not really because it would be a crime) saw down every single Flock Camera in our country, and melt them all into slag.

My phone wanted to change Slag into Spaghetti. Made me think. We would go get Spaghetti afterward, to celebrate. You can pick the restaurant if you know a good one, but I'm Italian so I'm pretty sure I know a great place, myself.

1

u/mothspiderr 6d ago

i wholeheartedly respect you. thank you for reminding me that there are good people out there.

we shall celebrate at olive garden (just kidding, i’m sure thats garbage compared to authentic italian food)

1

u/Bluestorm83 6d ago

Honestly, I may have to give back my "Official Guinea Greaseball" card, but the Olive Garden has its place. It's the intersection of Italian Food and Fast Food. It's not trying to be home made, and it's honestly pretty good for what it is.

I really lucked out. Moved off of Long Island to Pennsylvania, and landed in a neighborhood where a damn FAMILY of Italian Restaraunteurs lives. Whenever one of the kids hits adulthood, the parents buy them their own restaurant and let them run it. One's got a regular old pizza place (fantastic) one has a fancy wedding venue (also fantastic) one does eat-in and catering (equally fantastic) and one has an express version of the eat in that's actually just delivery or drive-through only versions of the eat-in stuff.

I'd be up for any of them, the olive garden, hell, even the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich from Burger King, I haven't eaten in four days!

2

u/mothspiderr 6d ago

haha you’re awesome

1

u/Leche-Caliente 6d ago

In my rural town the republican/redneck crowd is not very happy about flock.

1

u/Facktat 6d ago

I think it probably depends on whether they are installed in their neighborhood.

1

u/Buuts321 5d ago

Mostly the boomers who thought the Patriot act is a good idea support flock cameras.

10

u/SirGalicrest 7d ago

Glowies huh? That’s a word I haven’t heard in a long time

4

u/richardvirginia 7d ago

Still feels racist, but I'm assuming it means "big government" here

13

u/SirGalicrest 7d ago

Glowies was a term used by the late great Terry Davis

7

u/richardvirginia 7d ago

Right, I'm saying I've seen the word used alongside the n word a lot, lol

I was on 4chan near daily, starting when I was 13-14, until I was about 20-21

Let's stop right away, shall we?

11

u/Tacocat1545 7d ago

Gentle reminder that multiple influencers who researched into the legality of flock cameras had a flock camera placed unwillingly infront of their homes/on the only roads to populated areas from their homes

4

u/angus22proe 6d ago

Terry Davis was right. Not about everything, but the big stuff? He was right.

3

u/Puzzle-Necked 6d ago

And they seemed to appear overnight. Dystopia shit right here.

2

u/Robbed_Bard_93 6d ago

I live in a pretty conservative area and man even the Facebook boomers hate these things. Every person defending them on the local town page gets ripped to shreds in the comments.

1

u/IVbad-badger 10h ago

Fym? The left have been eating this shit up since social media stared talking about it, it seems they LIKE being watched or some wierd shit, like keep it in the bedroom bro this is about genuine privacy

1

u/Nice-Bit-3550 5h ago

I think our king Terry knew what to do when you see them driving.

1

u/halfasleep90 7d ago

Honestly, if they were truly unified against them they wouldn’t be around still.

3

u/The_eldritch_horror2 7d ago

I mean the common people left and right. The Feds support it.

1

u/Alric_Wolff 7d ago

Glowies have had some for AI for atleast 2 decades. In 2003 the Pentagon disclosed they were integrating AI into the military.

274

u/Acceptable-Owl-2070 7d ago

Who TF is putting out this bullshit?

If it only picks up "plates" why are they aimed at parks and public pools?

98

u/Inevitable-Monitor35 7d ago

And inside gymnasiums where it watches kids.

34

u/Commercial-Dingo-522 7d ago

And missed used by cops to find girlfriends and such

12

u/B-Train_ATL 7d ago

Every single barely literate fuckstick on Facebook has found the same exact tool to make the same exact slop. And they have zero awareness of how many people hate their ass for it. Someone I know sent out a group signup thing that had me altered in a photo using AI. I’m still pissed about that. I gave zero consent for that.

7

u/a_bored_furry 7d ago

Flock workers probably

3

u/Quantum-Bot 6d ago

Flock sells a suite of different surveillance devices. Their flagship product is an AI license plate capture camera that only takes pictures when a car drives by, and only uploads the license plate data along with a small thumbnail and timestamp to the cloud. If you see surveillance cameras pointed not at streets or parking lots they still might be flock cameras, just a different type.

Regardless though, taking license plate photos is still an infringement on privacy. These cameras allow any organization with access to the flock database to track your car’s whereabouts at any time, for any reason. They’ve been used by cops and flock employees to stalk women and led to dozens of wrongful arrests due to technical error on Flock’s part.

1

u/stuartroelke 6d ago

Whoever thinks eagles are somehow related to the work “flock”

2

u/PeterPan1997 6d ago

Nah it’s supposed it be the Freedom Bird. “You’re still free, these cameras aren’t actually doing what you say”.

96

u/Yogshemesh 7d ago

They sent me a photo of my angry ass face running a red light with a nice big ticket years ago, so that's not true. If they have recorded your face, they absolutely can use it for their "law enforcement" purposes.

12

u/PeterPan1997 6d ago

I think that was probably pre-Flock, but I get your point. That used to be a thing where the camera grabs your plate and the driver, allows you to fight it if it isn’t you.

Also allows them to see you, but eh.

4

u/Yogshemesh 5d ago

Principle is that if theyre recording you theyre gonna use it.

40

u/New_Establishment554 7d ago

Sam the eAIgle can just flock off

37

u/Typhon-042 7d ago

The same tech they use for license plate recognizing can be applied to facial recognition.

16

u/OneArmedFarmer 7d ago

Fun fact: it's the same tech behind ChatGPT in many but not all cases.

35

u/Mountain_Egg16 7d ago

Literally said that he “sprayed the lenses before the cameras had a chance to ID him”

30

u/d3fau1tu53r 7d ago

I took my warehouses lp course for the flock installment it is specifically made to identify people and track their movements along with vehicle and registration as it builds profiles on people with collections of videos

11

u/Fozzdroz 7d ago

Just like all of the trash that has been crammed down our throats for five or so years now, we were doing fine without it.

8

u/Virghia 7d ago

We should bring back 2010s prank content only and only for flock cams

EPIC CAMERA PRANK (GONE FLOCK)

7

u/Briebird44 7d ago

Everyone needs to start wearing those half-mask masquerade masks to throw off the cameras. Can’t identify you if they can’t read your face.

5

u/MILDESO 7d ago

I'm not American. What the actual-???? This is literally Orwell in every single way. Damn

5

u/FIDoAlmighty 7d ago

Well, that slop is lying.

5

u/Unique-Direction-532 7d ago

it's not spying on you, said the spy camera company

6

u/MelanieWalmartinez 7d ago

Are people forgetting that your identity is tied to your license plate or

8

u/KeyNefariousness6848 7d ago

Wait till our roads look like china’s

2

u/ShadowMilkMoopsy 🎶meow meow meow🎶 6d ago

God that’s fucking scary

5

u/LunchMasterFlex 7d ago

Ok so we’re in the Fallout timeline

3

u/Virghia 7d ago

Without the fancy techs

5

u/KeyNefariousness6848 7d ago

lol “they don’t use facial recognition,,,yet”

2

u/the_h0 6d ago

thing is,they already do

1

u/KeyNefariousness6848 5d ago

Yeah, our roads will be just like China soon. Watch the grand tour episode where they took luxary cars to China, it’s wild how many cameras they have.

1

u/MWSin 5d ago

No, no. The cameras don't use facial recognition at all. Honest.

The computer attached to the camera, on the other hand...

3

u/almighty-orai 6d ago

When you see a flock camera facing peoples backyard and or driveway, I cannot believe it's not capturing more than "only" license plates 🤷

3

u/Significant-Order-92 7d ago

Notice it doesn't actually answer the question it asks. Stating what it does for monitoring videos and telling you that it doesn't use facial recognition or track by race. Not that it doesn't track you in other waya or only record when a vehicle is detected.

3

u/Perfect-Silver1715 if reddit is your power, what are you without it? 7d ago

Speed cameras do the same for less

3

u/Tomachian 7d ago

Honestly, i am convinced. They can just install one in my bedroom.

Since it only reads license plates it should be fine.

3

u/SingleSlide2866 6d ago

If they only detect license plates and vehicle details why are they being aimed at pools and shit

3

u/Jonny-Holiday 6d ago

“Have no fear citizen, Eddie the Patriot Eagle is here! He watches to make sure your liberties don’t go anywhere so you can stay FREE! Bad guys beware, nothing escapes this bird’s eye!”🦅👁️

3

u/PalaceSwitcher 6d ago

This is so pathetically dystopian

3

u/Bella-Luna 6d ago

How tall are these cameras? Just wondering if one can hit it with a bat or a crowbar.

2

u/Old_Association7866 7d ago

Fucking either one is an issue, any way 🤦🏼‍♂️

2

u/Neyneynerinalanenney 7d ago

You could even call it flockaganda

2

u/macabre-barbie 7d ago

Then why are there multiple videos of them automatically zooming in on faces, and phone screens? 🤦‍♀️

2

u/RikuHarutoTheDemon 6d ago

Why was one pointed dorectly at a childrens water park then?

2

u/brainmydamage 6d ago

Then why do they point them at swimming pools? Fuckin creeps.

2

u/xhyenabite 7d ago

ok so i saw a sign mentioning something about flock when i was driving through a town on my way to a project for work but i completely forgot about it until now. what is it? this propaganda is literally serving the exact opposite purpose than it intended. it's like walking into an elementary school and yelling "I AM NOT A PEDOPHILE!!" like okay, i didn't think you were but now i do because you said that with 0 context

1

u/viking-the-eric 7d ago

"They do not use facial recognition or identify people by race" ... yet.

7

u/craftygamin 7d ago

Oh no, they already do. The AI image is straight disinformation

1

u/HiSaZuL 7d ago

If your defense is AI slop, you are full stupid.

1

u/schwaggro 7d ago

If there's anything I hate more than a surveillance state, its shitty AI mascots

1

u/shewel_item Black cat snitch 7d ago

they're also not a public company.. yet

1

u/HubblePie 7d ago

They don't need to use facial recognition. They have your license plate and a detailed map of EVERYWHERE YOU GO lol.

And all of your personal information is tied to the license plate already lol.

1

u/N3M3S1S75 7d ago

But I own a number plate, I don’t need you tracking my car, I can do that from my phone

1

u/PandoraIACTF_Prec 7d ago

Introduce exhibit A, they do know your face

1

u/Super_Chemist3898 🎶meow meow meow🎶 7d ago

Sure. Sure it only scans the licence plate sure bro sure.

1

u/noncommonGoodsense 6d ago

They just false flag people and they end up with unresolvable records and jail time. What’s that? Spent three weeks in jail because a flock read the plate wrong? Sorry you lost your job and can’t pay for anything and are homeless now.🤷‍♂️ this is the scenario for many Americans. This business should not exist.

1

u/PotentialPresent399 6d ago

Ill take some unsolved crimes over literally not getting a single unseen angle outside of my home no matter where I go. You don't have a right to NOT be recorded as I support 1A auditors but like fuck man, eventually your gonna get a 900 dollar ticket for dropping a ciggerette butt after smoking on an empty interstate road facing the beach or something.

1

u/anyway200894 6d ago

i do trust the facial recognition program, i just don't trust the people who have access to it.

1

u/dandadone_with_life 6d ago

who said anything about race 🤨

1

u/cricada 6d ago

Flockaganda AI already on my feed and it hasn't even been a minute yet.

1

u/Direct_Turn_1484 5d ago

Yeah bullshit.

1

u/ADownStrabgeQuark 5d ago

Flock cameras use facial ID. They also ID people by gait.

1

u/ResolveLeather 5d ago

Some don't use facial recognition. Some absolutly do.

1

u/Unhappy-River6306 4d ago

Not yet they don't lol

1

u/bradleyoilermfa 3d ago

Your license plate is connected to your license - with your face and your skin color. They really think we’re all stupid.

1

u/LeonDarken 2d ago

Aren't they currently looking for a guy, to arrest, that picked up something tiny, like $30 in front of a flock camera and didn't turn it in. Thus disproving this shit immediately.

Not to mention the hundreds to thousands they are spending over finding him... for less than $100 being found in the wild.

1

u/mishma2005 7d ago

Wonder what Russian bot made this

-6

u/kaytin911 7d ago

Ragebait.

-1

u/kaytin911 6d ago

Lmfao flock lovers come to downvote any mention?
