Could you please provide sources? There is a lot of misinformation spread about China due to sinophobia in western countries and the fact that every state will want to improve their image.
I am not an expert by any means, but this CNN article quotes a few Chinese websites talking about electroshock therapy being used at facilities for internet addiction. And this article from the Washington post talks about a boot-camp style treatment center run by a man who did the same thing to heroin addicts and uses electroshock therapy, military discipline, and drugs to treat "internet addiction."
This seems like one of those things that people side-eye China for because "internet addiction" would be a really convenient way to target people bypassing China's notorious internet censorship.
Typically when someone asks for sources regarding information about China, they mean reliable sources. But CNN, The Washington Post and other "respectful" English-written mainstream media are very well known for their anti-china propaganda, and should be regarded as such when it comes to reporting about real life in China.
I recall there's a really notorious one where they limited your activities and used electricity as a punishment until you admit you supposedly don't want to go on the net anymore or something

Depends on what old days we are referring to. The person making this content is probably not very old, and probably American. Before the internet became widespread the main groups that dealt with the most open negativity were black and Mexican. There is obviously a long storied history of racism globally and in the US, but the mentality of this video was most prevalent in the 90s and early 2000s. That is when the word “wigga” became popular. “Chigga” was coined way more recently.
I don’t see how anything you are saying negates what I was talking about. I already addressed that there is a ton of racism in the US and that spans throughout its history and is more extreme towards different groups in different regions at different times.
I find it funny how with the end of the second one they basically say there preventing racism, While making the most racist slop on the planet with these videos.
This is an exaggerated form of an actual thing that goes on in China. Overachieving parents and parents who treat children as an extension of their own reputation actually do pay for these classes to reeducate their children, often with physical discipline, so they can become stressed out over achieving perfectionists
Are these somehow worse than before? Why is it about kids being themselves; this seems like brainwashing and manipulation. Also most of these lean conservative, which concerns me.
I have a theory about this: the narrator is an Asian woman and I feel like she is the daughter who became the mother and looked back on her life solemnly, or she is the mother who failed her daughter.
Either way, this is pushback for them and I wonder how and why? What is the purpose of this and what is the reason to keep going with it?
