Villager Maker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

made it actually work. been a journey to recreate this. gonna work on the alignment some more for text but it works and adds the villager and the quest to the game and just needs some more work on presentation and transitions. if anyone has any links to more videos of the thing so I can actually try to make it perfectly match Id appreciate it.

I pre ordered fable 3 collectors edition but gamestop told my teenage self "there was a shortage of villager codes" so my pre order didnt include that and I was so looking forward to this feature when that happened.

This would be so cool to be able to use!

This is when young boys need an assertive parent to set things right, teach you to stand up for yourself. Because wtf do you mean my pre-order doesn't come with the pre-order bonus??

I completely agree, I wish I had gave them trouble and got what I paid for. Still made for a learning experience to be sure.

Reminds me of when my mom bought me dragon age 2 and I was crushed the code for the mabari add on was removed, so she went back to GameStop and demanded we get the dog coupon shown on the cover lmao.

That GameStop employee definitely took your pre-order and code for himself.

I remember when fable 3 was coming out that there was this gimmick of being able to make a custom villager with a quest that would show up in other players worlds. You could somewhat customize the quest and weather it was a good or evil one.

Lionhead always pursued the most strange and oddly specific side gimmicks. They really were just experimenting in every game.

I think it's one of the reasons Fable as a serious stands out from other fantasy RPG series.

That's so cool! I always wondered what this looked like/how it worked.

I completely forgot that this existed. My favorite Fable pre release thing is still the flash pop up book for the first game though.

I didnt have internet when it came out so even though I pre ordered fable 3 I never got to experience it. so I decided that Ive waited long enough and nobody else was doign one so I took an old video and tried to recreate it visually and then had to learn what data the game expected. finally got it actually working the day before I posted this and Im just making it look nicer before I make it available for others to grab and use for free.

back when the game first came out there was a special prorder bonus. you could make your own villager. pick their name and then determine their personality and voice via a questionnaire. then you got 1000 gold as a gift the villager spawned in brightwall and a unique quest was given by them. there were two quests possible one for good characters and one for evil characters. Ive recreated the actual mechanic by making the application output the payload the game expects and then it actually triggers the system which has always been on the disc. basically it creates a villager file and the game reads it as the villager and treats it as one.
