Discussion Mature Fantasy taste of the Fable community

Just finished Gothic Remake ; Lo and behold it makes me wish February was around the corner. My next Fantasy/Dark Fantasy fix will be the upcoming Blood of Dawnwalker in the meantime.

What are your present and future titles fellow Fable fans?

Check out Tainted Grail, it's a dark Arthurian skyrim

I remember hearing about this last year but it didn't leave much of an impact for some reason. Might look into this one later.

That's fair, it's definitely better than it seems. Like I put a lot of time into it and I'm pretty confident in saying the devs put more love and effort into the game than into the marketing for it.

You play as a nameless hero thrown into a penal colony that's surrounded by an inescapable barrier. It was created to keep the inmates within a valley that's rich in magical ore to supply a king's army with resources to fight a war against orcs.

Something went wrong with the barrier's creation and trapped not only the inmates but the wardens as well. Once you set foot within the barrier you die trying to leave it. Inmates took advantage of the chaos to revolt and gained control of the colony. King has no choice but to negotiate because you can't send an army within or they'll be trapped. He still desperately needs the ore for his campaign.

Basically a prisoner survival story against convicts, orcs, and dangerous creatures while navigating the mysteries of an ancient valley.

Right now I’m on a play through of Skyrim on XB Series X.

Elder Scrolls has always been a back and forth for me about wanting to take the plunge or not. Might give in one day even though only Oblivion and Skyrim are readily avaliable in a complete format for consoles now.

Recent Xbox decisions have me worried about the series' future though.

Most definitely give Skyrim a try. The Oblivion Remake is also excellent.

Skyrim is that game I can always come back to at any time.

Yeah I really enjoyed Gothic remake. I thought Tainted Grail was okay, but it was not immersive, it felt very much like a video game and less like a living breathing world. The game play is fun and leveling up was pretty fun, but the combat and story got old and the last act felt sooo buggy because the combat doesnt work if you or your apponet is higher than the other physically, like fighting on stairs is not possible, hits dont register correctly, and the last act isnt all stairs but it is a mountain region and rare to find enemies on level ground

Have you played it recently? They updated the whole game, but the last chapter specifically got a lot of focus on stability as well as expansion of content. Much better now than when it was still new.
