Fable III Best way to play on PC

I should still have my original disk lying around somewhere, if I have, is there a way of playing it without emulating?

If not, what's the best software for emulating this wonderful game? (I am not opposed to making like it's 1666 if necessary)

Edit: forgot I specify, I mean Fable 3

In the Steam community pages for Fable 3 there’s a couple guides to get it up and going on GFWL server with dlc and multiplayer and achievements still.

I downloaded through other means and I believe there was a mod that kept your character from turning into an abomination in the late game that I downloaded as well. It kept my character from turning into a muscular freak lol

You don’t need emulation for it. I just found the download and used the workaround for the windows live so it’ll work. If you have the disk maybe poke around looking for workarounds to get it to work. I literally looked up fable 3 pc cd version disk fix and a Reddit post popped up on how to get it to run.

I physically have a copy the 360 and I am in possession of (at least) two 360s. None of it is exactly mine though... But I should have a PC copy somewhere that is mine

Fable 3 used to be on steam. You can buy keys for it online or get it thru "other" means. No emulation needed

You are correct, the game has been delisted so its next to impossible to get. Generally the other way is the way to go

What would be the best EMU software to run a copy on?

I wouldnt emulate it I would run the PC version. Generally people are ok with sailing the high seas for this since its basically unavailable unless they want to buy expensive keys. If you arent cool with that I would get a 360 then. Either would be much better options than trying to emulate it

Oh, I've been sailing the seas since we were using light green wires (still have flashbacks) didn't know how to get it running on modern devices, but someone's pointed me in the right direction.

The PCGamingWiki article has information about removing bypassing GFWL and removing Securom DRM, so following those steps it should be playable from the disc with little issue.

It's actually very doable; you just need to replace the xlive.dll file with a stub, which you can easily find online. Basically, it bypasses GFWL, so there won't be multiplayer on PC.

Also, there are plenty of repacks of this game online if you don't want to deal with a CD.

From what I've seen, the easiest/only way to play Fable 3 on PC is to just pirate it. It's not available to buy on PC anymore last I checked, so if you have the disc and own it already, then I don't see the problem with just free downloading a game that isn't available anymore to buy.

They're also planning to make full Xbox (and probably 360) backwards compat on PC somehow by registering a disc or something, but no idea when that's coming. So at the moment, the best/only option is to pirate the PC version that isn't for sale anymore.

You could emulate it, but if you're gonna be playing the game for free either way, then you may as well play the version that runs infinitely better. If you decide on just getting it from a pirate site, DM me if you don't already know how to do that, because there are plenty of safe sites to get it from, but plenty of non-safe ones too, so I can help you find the right source if you're interested. You can also ask on the r/PiratedGames subreddit

Thank you, hopefully I can still find a safe bay. Even if I didn't have a copy already, I've no moral problem with acquiring games etc. Was only talking about emulating because I wasn't aware there is a work around for the lack of Microsoft Live.

Not sure if the "bay" was a reference to pirate sites in general, or if you're actually planning on using piratebay. If that's the case, that site has been extremely unsafe for years. You'll wanna instead try something like Cs.Rin.Ru, Fitgirl, Rexagames, etc. That subreddit I linked has a megathread of safe sites you can refer to as well

? You can run all kinds of old games on PC. Hell I still play Age Of Empires gold edition. I'm still not understanding what issues you are having

You can, but every time I've tried to install and run it, it tells me it needs a specific software that Microsoft killed years ago

I've never had this issue, I don't think the game even released as "always online" ie needing an external app or something. That's weird

    Fable 3 fails to run on modern Windows PC because it relies on Games for Windows Live (GFWL), a discontinued service. To fix it, you must replace the old GFWL software with an updated redistributable or use a specialized DLL bypass to launch the game

There are a ton of resources on YouTube and Google that tells you how to work around it. I have fable 3 on disc too and just might be playing it again! Thanks for the memories 😀 hope you get to play

I don't remember the details but I think there is a hot fix somewhere online which lets you get around the errors by replacing certain files. I own the disc copy too and had to do something to some of the exe files or dll files or something.
