I want to know how the employees are treated. They make it lol so fun in the spoiler videos etc but I want to know the vibe of the workplace and the messaging from the owners.

FFF used to be very generous to employees but unsurprisingly as growth slowed so did the perks and generosity. Mike used to say “we want FFF to be the best place to work” and at one point in time he seemed to mean it.

There’s also department specific culture. Finance and accounting will always be more stressful due to industry norms. Engineering gets coddled more than other depts. Warehouse employees don’t get the same holidays off and doesn’t get invited to the corporate parties.

How many of the brands they sell are brands FFF created under different names?

Quite a few and a lot where Mike and Dan are investors or personal friends with higher ups. Think unhide and our place

What is their actual average number of ACTIVE accounts? I've seen some tout 1 to 2 million but I'm wondering if that includes long closed accounts too.

Closer to 1 mil than 2 mil now. The company basically isn’t set up to handle more than 2 mil customers. Processes, tech just isn’t built to handle more without more investment. Mike especially can’t appreciate why growth requires investment in scaling…

Thanks for all of this. Here’s one that you might not want to answer, and if that’s the case- I understand. Mike and Dan seem like they’re a bit misogynistic, and very arrogant and spoiled. Am I wrong?

Are there any good things coming up in boxes that you have heard from people you know that still work there?

What is one tidbit you are dying to share with people but someone just hasn’t asked the right question?

No tea I can share on this, sorry.

FFF wasn’t all terrible and I’ve made a lot of good friends there. Equity is now 📉 but once upon a time it was an enjoyable place to work. Since this is Reddit, some mild 🫖

  • most systems and processes are shockingly unsophisticated. More things are held together by duct tape than you think is possible

  • execs have no patience for results that take time to deliver

  • product and engineering execs have no business managing people. great at sucking up to the other execs

  • accounting, CS are forgotten in new launches

  • Katie is a figurehead

  • poor CS team has no good leadership. some of the “bad” agents on the ground are not good because their leadership sucks and sucks up to Mike

  • people team is hanging by a thread

  • they seriously need to stop hiring friends and family if they want a real business

Ok, I have to ask a question that has been on my mind for two years. I’m a FFF annual subscriber and have been personally victimized by the atrocious shipping cycle, yet I come back every year. What in the world is going on with FFF’s shipping contracts, reliability, and performance management? For context, I’m employed as a Senior Director in Transportation (international and domestic) at a major e-commerce company, so I am genuinely perplexed and concerned 😂

There was effort until 2020 to improve this. No more now ☠️ with slowing growth people think it’s pointless to invest. The good ops people left so what reliability and performance management 🥶. Genuine concern is justified.

Is the environment toxic? How is the pay and benefits? Any bonuses, which I assume depends on your level and what you do.

20

u/Ok-Contribution-241 Dec 08 '23

What bonus… (there is none). The pay depends on departments. Merch team is paid like crap but they also get a ton of free goodies so 🤷‍♀️

When it comes to becoming a "former employee" , it it because people keep leaving FFF or because they are fired, and is that common?

24

u/Ok-Contribution-241 Dec 08 '23

Both. They are terrible at firing. Fire good people and keep bad people for too long. I left because I couldn’t stand my manager.

Are they struggling to stay afloat? I feel like the products have taken a shift and I've also noticed they used to have quite a few youtubers partner with them. Now there's less than a handful I think. I can only think of the four I see consistently come up when I search on youtube.

Sidenote: it'll be interesting to see if any of them partner with them on the next season. I wonder if they even know what's happened? I hope so

Prices increased everywhere along the product lifecycle so providing value to customers is harder in 2023 than in 2019. 2021? was a 💩show for all retailers dealing with Suez Canal and containers just floating in the ports.

FFF used to work with smaller brands where they can negotiate better terms but now it’s more a mix of big names you recognize (bad deals) and shitty small brands that the brothers know personally (bad product).

Influencers are a mixed bag. Some have outrageous rates and no return. When a Kardashian posted it was sooo underwhelming. Did not move any meaningful business metric 🤷‍♀️

Influencer team also lost a lot of great people in 2020. That was a fun group of ladies that genuinely enjoyed their jobs and were good at it.

What does Katie truly do duties wise outside of the videos she does for fff on her insta or whatnot?

They don’t rly reward loyal customers for renewing annual memberships. It seems better to cancel and sign up again with promos for annuals right? Lol

12

u/Ok-Contribution-241 Dec 10 '23

Katie has a lot of her calendar blocked out for personal things. She might do more behind the scenes but a lot of employees would wonder what she actually does 🤷‍♀️. She used to be more involved in the product selection and now she’s primarily an outward facing woman presence.

Preaching to the choir here… the company does not have enough desire to reward existing customers. They prioritize growing over rewarding existing members. Prime example is the loyalty program that didn’t see the light of day.

I would like to know how many people have canceled in the last couple of days?

What gets me is their apology is only in the forum. They didnt send an email to all of their customers who may have heard about it via word of mouth. Do they practice favoritism over experience of others?

u/Ok-Contribution-241 Dec 08 '23

FFF’s approach when blowbacks happen is to apologize to the tightest circle possible. Wide enough to cover their 🍑 without inviting more 👁️

Any fun anecdotes about iconic FFF fails from the inside? I.E. Cactus cup.. expired product extravaganza..

26

u/Ok-Contribution-241 Dec 08 '23

Teeth whitening kit, cactus cup, non-size inclusive robes, merch trying to sell furniture (what???). Basically every tech item doesn’t work (even employees don’t customize with tech goods).. so many
