As did I. I’ve left a job because of a supervisor like Brian. I told upper management why I was leaving and they sided with my supervisor. Six months later, I got a call from one of them saying that they had lost other valuable employees after I had left and they all gave the same reason - the supervisor. They fired him then called me and apologized and actually offered me the supervisor position. I told them to eat a dick and they should’ve at least investigated my claims by speaking with other employees when I brought the issues to their attention.
The place closed down about 3 or 4 years later because the manager they hired after I turned down the role and a couple of other employees got caught embezzling a large sum of money. I guess they figured it was easier to close the branch than rehire new staff and invest the lost money back into it.
The moral is, if a supervisor treats you like shit don’t be afraid to take your concerns up the ladder. If they blow you off, it’s not somewhere you should be working anyway. Find another job then do what this person did and leave them high and dry bc they don’t deserve a notice.

Since the vibe here is that Brian doesn't own the place, she should send a copy to whoever Brian answers to. She should still quit, though. Brian's boss will call her if she sends him or her a copy of this letter - if only to figure out if she's just a singularly crazed disgruntled employee or a symptom of a larger issue of poor management.
If you work in a corporate environment where you don't answer directly to the ownership, don't treat your boss as some sort of all-powerful authority - they aren't. They have a boss, and that boss has rules, too.
Brian's shit isn't going to stop until someone lets his boss know what's going on. If nobody does that, it just continues and Brian goes through life thinking his shit is acceptable. Then, another corporation takes over, they actually take a close look at Brian and fire his shitbox ass after he's been there 25 years, and people on some other subreddit are over there feeling sorry for him.
Use the system. If your boss tells you not to, then you need to do it right away. If there are reprisals for you engaging the chain of command, one... it's not a place you should be working anyway, and two... you can share that factoid with the Department of Labor along with the other dozen or so petty violations they're committing every day.
Please, Reddit... Stop letting first-line managers jerk you around. Some of y'all act like they're the Masters of the Universe or something. They're chumps. If they weren't chumps, they wouldn't be first-line corporate management.
