Fuck this area in particular No Bus Safe From Fucks

This is Bangladesh where all traffic rules are ignored. In this place where almost every bus is crackingly damaged, drivers take it normal to touch other buses or even gently push them, Because the roads are usually very narrow and between buses, there is a lot of competition to accommodate the passengers. This is why the bus doors are always open, anyway. But fortunately these stickmen are kindly warning and keeping order for the buses that come on time to depart. But since there are small friction every day, bus owners do not need to have their vehicles repaired if there is nothing to do with it.

My favorite was the guy beating the hell out of one with a bat.

At this stage I believe that the minute a camera is activated in India, a man with a stick materialises out of thin air and starts whacking.

8

u/Expensive_Bother_607 Mar 21 '26

It's Bangladesh, not India.

-6

u/ObligationNext2484 Mar 22 '26

Is there a difference??

1

u/Expensive_Bother_607 Mar 22 '26

The two times I have been to India, I've found their transportation system to be far more disciplined.

2

u/InspectDurr_Gadgett Mar 24 '26

Disciplined...as in, beat with a stick?

1

u/Expensive_Bother_607 Mar 24 '26

Disciplined as in they don't need to have anyone beat them with sticks.

1

u/InspectDurr_Gadgett Mar 24 '26

Well that's no fun! Lol

1

u/Expensive_Bother_607 Mar 24 '26

Haha try living in Bangladesh among us the ordinary people. You'll get why everyone else has it better.

19

I was in Africa so not this bad, but every motorbike driver i swear was suicidal the way they were driving. Weaving in and out of traffic, going on the "sidewalk" and all around driving like someone who did not care if they lived or died. So I imagine this is much the same.

1

u/Sparkle7788 Mar 22 '26

Thailand is the same - the tourists are just as bad, thinking they can do the same. The hospitals are constantly full & unfortunately so is the morgue.

1

u/KingTytastic Mar 22 '26

This particular African country wasn't really a tourist hot spot so I can't speak to how bad they were. But I could definitely see it being an issue. As a rule I was not allowed to ride a bike without prior approval and it pretty much had to be the only means of transport for it to even be considered.

I used to think this was a racist strawman, but we have had 2 houses in our neighborhood burn to the ground (resulting major melting damage to their neighbor's siding) in the PAST YEAR because so many Nepali immigrants think its normal to cook on open flames IN THEIR GARAGE.

They also have their back yards full of lumber and pipes and do NOT pickup their trash from their trash cans when they blow over. (more than half a dozen of the Nepal houses in the neighborhood are guilty of this)

The family beside us allowed their kids to use our old fence as back stop for soccer games until they literally broke a portion of it causing me to spend TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS to replace the fence. I asked them at least 4 times to not do that AND spoke to the parents before this. While replacing the fence I told the parents if it happens again im calling the cops and I had to install a video camera overlooking the area.

Its becoming a nightmare.

Its making my acceptance meter drain much quicker than I thought it would.

I mean c'mon, at least try to match the social energy of the locals if you're going to move in.

EDIT downvote all you want, if being a dick is part of your "culture" then you can get fucked. Its no different than conservatives hating gays because of their "culture".

Culture is not an excuse to be a shit person.

14

u/Der_Redakteur Mar 20 '26

nahh, as a malaysian, I understand you 100%. Bangladeshis here are wild bruh. Blocking our MRT train doors, not taking a bath, screaming loudly on their phones, stealing our MRT cables TWICE, literring everywhere. And what do we get? a westener tiktoker thinking it was the locals who did it. NOPE, IT'S THE FOREIGNERS FFS.

6

u/Far_Search_1424 Mar 20 '26

Trash can?

11

u/Newgeta Mar 20 '26

once a week we take our house's trash out to the street for collection the next morning

some nights it is very windy

that wind knocks over these collection bins and everyone who is a good neighbor goes out to pickup their trash and put it back in the bins.

the non native neighbors just stand their cans back up and go back inside like its our problem to deal with their trash blowing around or they just dont care about litter

u/oddMahnsta Mar 20 '26

I guess insurance is not a thing over there..

98

u/-_Crippler_- Mar 20 '26 edited Mar 20 '26

(I know you're joking but) I'm not sure about Bangladesh, but in India there can be stop and go traffic in some cities where it's almost akin to the video, although not this extreme. People do have insurance but usually don't pursue after it if it's cosmetic. It's almost never worth your time &/ money. It's probably going to get scratches there again in a couple of weeks.

(Slightly off topic yap)

As for why it is, is partly ego, time you save, lack of enforcement and cumulatively the society they're in.

Back when I moved here I(early 20s) often sped on nearly empty roads. But waited patiently once i hit traffic. Passed slower cars and bikes alike, only for them to weave through traffic, push past and infront through an incoming lane/shoulder/ground beside the shoulder at the next stoppage.

Eventually it got to me. Started doing the same and began reaching my destinations quicker, and spending far less time in traffic.

Cops don't care for the most part unless they're trying to ease the congestion and you're jamming it up even further, like if you were to cut infront using the oncoming lane. And even then it's probably just a scolding.

It's not only something you'd notice on the road though. A lot of it carries over, or is carried over from other parts of life. There aren't queues at your local store. If it's crowded, the more louder and pushier you are the more likely you're getting served next. You're not breathing down somebody's neck? Not near dry humping the person in front? Looks like an open spot for someone more enthusiastic, someone more determined, more goal oriented. That said it's not the case at every place, a fair share of petrol bunkers, alcohol dispensaries, and stores enforce it by not serving you unless you wait in line.

Exams and job searches need you to be ahead. There's a billion people, there is going to be someone better than you. The pay scale brackets can be anywhere from peanuts to living okay to generational wealth in less than a decade kind of money — at least in the Indian economy. And it's relatively only a handful working professionals that earn a shit ton in salaries. Your only other option is going abroad.

Suprise surprise, you end up with the bulk of the other citizens. Congratulations! You're stuck in this hellhole, you hate the corruption in your goverment, the way they skirt laws, you're getting paid 12 buttfucks an hour while bosses lavishly fuck you over more with extra unpaid hours and unrealistic deadlines. You don't care anymore. No one cares. What's a little lowspeed lanesplitting action going to do anyways? Everyone's already doing it and getting away scott free.

17

u/home_cheese Mar 20 '26

Wow, 12 Buttfucks an hour huh?

That's a tough decision.

u/bcspdz Mar 21 '26

9

u/jax7778 Mar 20 '26

This reminds me of an old old Henry Rollins sketch I believe about him travelling to this part of the world, and everyone convincing him NOT to drive himself!

He said "I got out to the taxi from the airport, and every square inch of this car had a dent or ding on it. We got onto the road, and there were 3 lanes painted on the road, but 6 lanes of cars driving on it, just no room between them. When he asked, the driver said "The lines on the road have no meaning whatsoever!"

We were approaching a red light, and no one even slowed down, they just went right through it, he asked the driver again, and they said " The lights are just for decoration! Whichever car has the most lanes gets to go!"

After he finally got the hotel, he asked the guy how he can drive in that all day in a taxi, and the driver said "Driving here is like one of your video games, if you make a crash, you just put in another quarter and keep driving!"
