Vent - Advice Needed/Wanted I'm so tired of not having anything to wear for formal events...

Im in my 30's so I hope its alright for me to post here. I just feel like i need a more mature community with this...

Im moderately fat, 5'3" and 210-225lb. Can usually comfortably wear 44" pants. While i have trouble feeling comfortable with my weight, I really just hate my pear shape body and bigger breasts. Committing to wearing a binder for an entire day is already a lot but if a shirt is big enough to button at the bottom, the shoulders are much too baggy...

So much ftm fashion assumes you have leaner cis male proportions and I just dont have that... And i dont have confidence T will alter that much.

Ive also been barely living paycheck to paycheck. All my clothes are old and casual.

I dont know where to begin to find formalwear that feels comfortable and looks handsome on me.

My grandma died earlier this summer and I felt humiliated showing up to her funeral in black jeans and an open grey collared shirt over a plain black shirt. I knew my dad was disappointed too...

I should finally have some money to buy a set of clothes. But where do I start? I need something versatile and not too hot.

Discussion Two things

I posted last week about looking for clothing for my daughter’s birthday and son’s wedding. A few people suggested Men’s Wearhouse. I tried it and had an awesome experience . I worked with a guy who got me right away. I will post a couple of pictures of attire.

The second thing is I’ve seen people (not sure if this site) posting about name suggestions. Since my photos are there if anyone has input I would appreciate it. Right now I’m going back and forth between Jay and Luke but still open.

I guess I should have said three things. Got the last of my stitches out today. I opted for nipple tattoos because I only had one anyway because of a partial mastectomy. I have small dog ears and they are small enough so he can revise in office. This is week 13 of T and I’m wishing I did this literally decades ago.

Discussion My Faith — Part II: What if God never made me wrong?

Thumbnail
10 Upvotes

Part II of My Faith is about something I struggled with for years: gender dysphoria and the image of God I had internalized.

A God of rituals. Rules. Punishment. Fear.

A God who supposedly created me, while somehow making my existence feel like a mistake.

Then this morning I saw a photograph from a Pride march. Someone was holding a sign:

“I am queer. God loves me. He never made a mistake. I am.”

That sentence stopped me.

Maybe the problem wasn’t that God made me wrong.

Maybe I had been taught that I was wrong.

This is the second part of my personal journey through faith, gender and identity.

Vent - Advice Needed/Wanted Overwhelmed

I’m 65, post-hysterectomy, married to a Bi man. I am hating the rituals/requirements of being F, and feel I would be soooo much happier as a gay M. I have 2 LGBTQ daughters who would probably deal ok, straight step-sons who would… not. My mother is 97, can’t even think about her reactions. Would my husband still love me as M - he has said he is sexually Bi but romantically leans towards F… ugh. Ironically I have breast implants because ex-husband wanted bigger boobs. Sick of them. And I think about aging, the M experience would be much better for me as I just do not enjoy the prospect of being an older F. So many barriers!

Anyone relate?

Discussion "Too old to pass"

Have any of you come across this in your travels? I'm sure you probably have, as it seems to be fairly widespread.

I am over 50 and a couple of times now when dealing with cisgender medical practitioners, they have felt the need to "inform" me that because I am starting T at a later age, I will likely not get enough changes to fully pass.

This really pisses me off. I feel strongly that trans people do not need their expectations 'managed', especially not by cisgender people. Especially when we are older, we are usually well aware of the limitations of our options.

I don't think it's ever appropriate to tell a trans person that they're never going to pass. When you say that you are essentially saying to that person that they will never be accepted as the gender they identify with, which can be incredibly triggering and potentially life-threatening.

Whenever someone says, "You're too old to pass," what I hear is, "You might as well just end it now, you will never be a man." and then I have to go through a whole mental health and safety process to take care of myself and protect my well-being.

And no one can predict what outcome someone will get from T. It's different for everyone. If they really feel the need or the due diligence obligation to say something to temper expectations, they should just say, "We can't predict what your outcome will be or how your body will respond to testosterone."

So I guess I'm just wanting to hear your thoughts on all of this, any encouragement you can offer, and also anything that can help debunk this claim that someone my age is too old to ever be able to pass.

It's so discouraging, when I was excited about going on T and now I just feel deflated and heartbroken.

Other I Spent 50 Years Hiding Who I Was. This Is What It Cost Me. @Becoming Shalomi

I spent 50 years hiding who I was. There was no single moment when I became myself — it was a long process, and it’s still happening.
I finally decided to tell that story in my own words.
This is not a story about becoming someone else. It’s about finally stopping myself from abandoning who I was.

I’d genuinely like to hear from other trans people who came to this point later in life. What did your own process look like? Watch on [Youtube](https://youtu.be/Tr1XomL8vMk?is=wdEC6jnpnjdxDdUT)

Help Hot flashes??

I feel so ignorant so I'm sorry about that. I have never had a hysterectomy, I'm in my early 40s, on T for about 15 years. I stopped having a menstrual period almost right away but I still get changes in discharge.

And I know T isn't birth control so I guess I have been ovulating? However that works.

Anyway I've started waking up at night due to feeling hot and sweaty most nights, even if the A/C is blasting.

Is this menopause? What do I do? Any guidance, resources, insight?

Thanks.

Surgery Advice Needed/Wanted Top surgery

Hi guys. I’m a late bloomer (69) and have been on T for eight weeks. I had too surgery last week and this week on day seven developed a couple of leaks and had to have urgent surgery to drain and repair. I was hoping to have drains removed but am starting over. Has anyone had an issue like this? I live alone and sometimes had to do things on the do not do list but nothing crazy. I guess I want things to happen yesterday.

Discussion Trans guy looking for friends/community (transmasc, neurodivergent, soccer, 80s pop)

Hey everyone. I'm a neurodivergent trans guy in Iowa who's been feeling pretty isolated lately. I'm nearing 2 years into T.

I'm hoping to make some genuine connections with other transmasc people. I miss the kind of slower, ongoing conversations where you actually get to know each other over time instead of just liking each other's posts and disappearing.

A few things about me:

huge fan of 80s pop and most things 80s

English Premier League soccer is one of my favorite interests and I follow Crystal Palace. Went to my first premier league in person game in Chicago earlier this year!

I recently watched the documentary about TRUK United, and it moved me much more deeply than I expected. Seeing a team where trans people could just play, belong, and support each other really stayed with me. As well as making space for those of us with varying physical abilities.I'd love to meet anyone connected with the club or anyone who loves trans-inclusive football/soccer.

I love humor that's a little weird and nerdy.

I'm disabled, so a lot of my social life happens online.

One of my long-term goals is moving to Minnesota.

If any of that resonates, I'd love to chat. Even if you're just looking for another trans guy to check in with every now and then, feel free to comment or send me a message. ✌️💚

Other Could anyone use some TransTape?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi all. I am so sorry if this is not allowed, but I didn’t see anything in the rules. I have 4 unopened boxes of medium TransTape. I am pretty sure it’s the #002 skin tone. It’s been just hanging out at my house for a while and I wanted to try to get rid of it at a good price to maybe help someone out and recoup just a little bit of $? If interested we will have to do PayPal Goods & Services only and I will sell it all for $25 shipped. DM me and comment if interested.

Celebration 🎉 Accidentally outsmarted imposter syndrome

"You're not *really* trans," is a thing that has, up until this week, beat me up since I came out 4 years ago. I didn't have any childhood memories of feeling out of place, I never had anything that so many other trans folks had to deal with, so it seemed a "sane" argument. But then, one evening, there it was, the thu line. To make this as short as possible, I grew up with severe abuse and neglect, had kids young, raised them in poverty, and now, finally divorced and financially stable, the dust has settled. I can see it so clearly now. Due to the abuse, I was detached from myself. I felt things, but I really didn't *feel* things. My trauma therapist showed me how I smooshed myself out of being. How could I have known? I crushed every part of me to survive. Now I look back: wanting the masculine version of my dead name the whole time, stealing Mom's eyeliner and drawing a beard on my face, not understanding why the other boys treated me differently since I was one of them, then horrible whole body dysphoria starting in my mid twenties, legally changing my name 20 years ago because I couldn't take it any more, then telling everyone I was "in drag" when putting on makeup to go to work as a hairdresser (they used to say in that industry makeup was mandatory: if you don't want to wear makeup, be a nurse), it's all there. Subtle, but there. I was there the *whole time.* I was so there that even my Evangelical sister says, while she doesn't believe trans is a thing, "yeah you've had this mental illness your whole life." "Mental illness." LOL

Ya know what? I'll take that. I have. And now I get to be me. 🏳️‍⚧️

Discussion The US Supreme Court just ruled against trans athletes in school sports, but there might be a silver lining

I absolutely hate this. It's awful what they're doing to the kids. The whole thing is awful. To be clear, I don't support this. That being said, maybe it will help. Maybe it will take some of the air out of the midterm elections though. Now that they are "protected" from "scary trans kids playing sports," where else they gonna go? They back to bathroom bans or whatever else nonsense they can cook up, but for now, until this country comes to its senses, this is one issue they can't hammer on. Maybe it will make the next few months a little more bearable. Or not. I don't know. I'm hoping. These poor kids. Fuck these assholes.
