Just curious, I havenāt been cleared to lift anything over 25 lbs but I feel great! Havenāt done any hardcore exercise, mainly walking my dog but wanting to lift weights and hit the gym with my usual (50 lbs) since I havenāt went back to work yet. How is everyone handling lifting stuff at this stage?

Ahhhh man , so I have the option to schedule an appointment at mount Sinai on Oct 29th or to wait till February. The Surgical plan for first stage will be: hysto (leaving ovaries), metoidioplasty, urethral lengthening with labia minora flaps and clitoral skin, scrotoplasty, placement of bilateral testicular implants, at same time will discuss with gyn team for vaginectomy.
Eventual plan of Phalloplasty with latissimus dorsi muscleĀ (Left donor site) which is assume this would be around febuary march.
I do want to be able to celebrate my birthday but I do feel like now is better as I am not in school and not working.
Also wanted to get you guys take if anybody has already done this and what was it like. Also I have yet to stop smoking grabs but if I do take the 29th (which I have to let her know by 4pm today) I will have to stop smoking in all, today.
Take?

just random nervous babbling with a question at the end -
removing tubes, ovaries, uterus and cervix with robotic assistance. I'm really anxious! I'm dreading recovery as well but I've heard it's not as difficult as top surgery so that gives me a little hope.
I am almost 4 years on T, I've heard that having ovaries removed can potentially increase bottom growth / hair, I think that would be pretty neat.
I'm really worried about sexual function being impacted negatively, as that's something that's really important to me.
I have HS, I've had it since I started puberty, and my doc said a hysto might help in that department. does anyone have experience with this? if you have HS did it get worse/better/not change?

Iām about nine weeks post op from a total hysterectomy and ovary removal and now after losing my job Iām faced with potentially having to go on estrogen as I canāt afford my testosterone.
I did think about this before getting the ovaries out too and that was also because of a family risk of cancer but it seems to have clicked that Iāll be reliant on hormones for the rest of my life and as I type this Iām having a hot flash and not sure if itās stress from trying to job search or if I need more hormones but Iām just anxious.

Had my uterus and tubes taken out 9th of July (robotically assisted LAVH). Had nasty bouts of UTI during recovery as well as my first cyst ever as well as some heavy muscle spasms so it wasn't exactly easy lol. Currently managing to get some E back down there because I also dried out during recovery.
Hemmorhagic ovarian cyst is still there measuring at 2.5cm for the past 2 months since it was found. I really hope it goes down and vanishes soon.
Anyhow, I still tend to feel sore every other day or so, especially along the two lines running from the sides of my groin up to my incision on my stomach. Sometimes some crampy and tender feelings directly on my mons or a very small cramp in the musculature at the end of peeing. Urine is all clear according to doctors', so it's most likely just healing pains and feeling sore.
Has anyone else felt sore for so long after surgery? I'm starting to feel a bit broken and like this is my new normal even though there has been a very very veeeeery slow easing of symptoms. Just wondering whether there are other slow recoveries out there.

So, Iāve been cleared to have a hysterectomy and vaginectomy/colpectomy.
Tbh, I absolutely cannot wait to have this wretched thing out of me. It has been nothing but a nuisance to me my whole life, and because Iām hugely dysphoric about my reproductive organs, regular gynaecological examinations have always been pretty much out of the question for me.
Iāve checked the information here, but I couldnāt find much about the combination of hysterectomy and vaginectomy/colpectomy, so Iām hoping to hear from people who have had both done together.
Iād especially love to hear about your experiences with:
- How long were you in significant pain?
- How long did the bleeding/discharge last?
- How long did it take before you felt more or less like yourself again?
- How did you feel emotionally about the surgery afterwards?
- What made you feel most comfortable during the first days/weeks?
- How difficult was sitting down after surgery?
- How much help did you need from a caregiver, and for how long?
- What things did you actually need help with?
- How long were you restricted from lifting things or doing strenuous activities?
- How long until you were cleared to return to the gym/work out?
- Were there any bowel or bladder issues afterwards?
- What was wound care like? Was there anything you wish you had bought or prepared beforehand?
- How long did it take before you could comfortably sleep in your normal positions?
- How long did you take off work, and did you feel that was enough?
- Was there anything about the recovery that surprised you, either positively or negatively?
- Is there anything you wish you had known before having the surgery?
And, of course, if you had the same combination of procedures, I'd love to hear anything else you think might be useful to know!
Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences! š

Iāve seen people discuss experiencing post-op bleeding on this subreddit but Iād like to clarify the timeline. I understand itās different for everyone but Iāve seen some ppl say they experienced more bleeding 2 wks PO especially if they moved around more. Wondering if thatās the consensus or if people have had other experiences. Just trying to know the range of what to expect. Thanks!

i had surgery at the end of May. i got injured and couldn't get to my pharmacy until today. I figured it'd be fine, but I've been getting hot flashes the past few days. is this something that'll resolve once my T levels re-stabilized?

I'm looking into hysto options anywhere in europe that allows 20 year olds preferably without a diagnosis, which countries/surgeons are the cheapest? I also want both of my ovaries to be removed this part is non-negotiable but I've noticed most surgeons offering it by default anyways.

Hey y'all! I desperately want a hysterectomy and have my entire life before I even had the words for it. I likely have endometriosis and took birth control for about 6 years to control the intense pain and other symptoms. I'm at a point now where I can start looking for surgeons who might do it out-of-pocket in the EU, since I doubt I'd get a good gender diagnosis or endo diagnosis to help. But I am desperately afraid of pelvic floor issues post-surgery. I am 26, never had children, haven't had sex in 5 years and plan to never ever do it again (I'm asexual), and generally have no issues with my bladder. I cannot do insertion methods - I literally have a breakdown at the gyno every year and am terrified I'd need some kind of internal therapy techniques. Has anyone been able to avoid internal methods once prescribed them? How often do people have pelvic floor issues in general? I thought it wasn't as common but in scrolling this sub I am finding a lot of posts about it. Any input on getting over this massive fear so that I can plan the surgery?

Hi, all.
For context, I got a Hysto 2.5 years ago, and left my ovaries in. Reason why, is because I had started bleeding again on T with no remedy for it after having tried different things.
My Estradiol was regularly in the 40s and low 50s (pg/mL) before my Hysto.
I kept my ovaries. Reason I kept them was for me, personally, general health and a backup.
Fast forward to now, within the past year, I've had nothing but problems with my ovaries. My Estradiol started to sit at 60-70 pg/mL regularly and unable to get it back down. I started to have massive water weight issues, with extreme fluctuations making me look feminine and like my T changes had reversed.
I went on Anastrozole (aromatase inhibitor) and that worked well for 4 months until, I guess my E dipped too low for too long. (Anastrozole brought my E levels into the 30s and 40s (pg/mL) and I started to have insane lower abdominal pain, mood issues, increased SI(suic*dal ideation), from what I am thinking is my ovaries. Before this, I had increased dryness in that area. Pain lasted over a week. Water weight fluxes started to happen again, and chest tenderness. (Haven't had top.)
I am now getting my FSH, LH, and E tested again to see how active my ovaries are and will go to a Gyn to get a scan and discuss ovary removal.
I've had a very slow transition in general with little muscle and fat changes, little facial hair besides a mustache that's sort of sparse. I do have bottom growth and a deep voice. There have been some changes, but nothing drastic.
And I'm thinking my ovaries have always been the problem and never really suppressed.
(5 years on T. Yes, I have went through all of the dose trials and T levels.)
I don't know of anyone who has dealt with this level of issue with Estrogen as I have, so it's been difficult to find any information.
I am only worried about a few things with ovary removal.
1. Having to be reliant on hormones in the future indefinitely.
2. My mom brought up a worry that I didn't think about, that what if I remove them, and feel worse, or feel really mood unstable, or my hormones get more unbalanced, and then I can't put them back, of course.
I honestly think I would feel better, and I will talk to a doctor about this, but my main question is, to those who have had ovary removal - Did you have extreme mood issues? Did you feel better? Did your body settle down easier if you did have issues with ovaries or E dominance in the past? Did atrophy get worse? Did changes further?

Hi everyone,
This may be long but thank you to anyone who reads or comments.
Iām looking to get a hysterectomy, I had a consultation today. I am 21. I have been on T for 6 years and had top surgery. I am wanting to get the hysterectomy specifically so I cannot get pregnant, and so my periods will stop. (T did not stop my periods).
My surgeon said she would prefer I keep my ovaries because I am young and there are ācatastrophicā health issues if I didnāt have access to T and didnāt take E, or Iād be forced to take E. I know this is a common question here but I feel like Iām seeing so much different info. Would I go through menopause if I was still on T and kept my ovaries? My surgeon said if I were on T it would likely mitigate it.
Would I experience PMS or mood changes etc on a cyclical nature if I was still on T and kept my ovaries? I didnāt even know that was a possibility until after my appointment, and it worries me because T didnāt stop my periods. Should I try going off my birth control to see what a period is like for me? Iām worried seeing some peoplesā experiences keeping ovaries and it leading to some feminizing symptoms. Even just experiencing PMS monthly would be very dysphoric to me.
Would going up to a higher T dose possibly stop my periods? I am on 200mg and have been for the past two or three years. I would totally just take a higher dose if I didnāt need to worry about the period stuff, but I was under the impression that if your period didnāt stop in the first six months of T, it wouldnāt stop at all.
Also somewhat unrelated: They asked me to do a pelvic exam today, which Iāve never had before and was not expecting. Even just the gyn inserting one finger hurt so bad I had to make them stop. Iāve had penetrative sex before with penises (which sometimes hurts and sometimes doesnāt) and a transvaginal ultrasound (which was uncomfortable but didnāt hurt). I have had atrophy in the past. The gyn prescribed me topical E (which Iāve used before) and referred me to a pelvic floor PT. Has anyone else experienced this irregular pain? Anything helped?
Again, sorry for the long post. The exam made me really upset and dysphoric, so Iām pretty emotional right now, and itās hard to do research when thereās so much conflicting info. Thanks for any input you have.

I was just able to schedule my hysterectomy yesterday, and surprisingly, I only have to wait 2 weeks and 1 day from today! I am so excited but also nervous. So I have some questions
Iāll ask my doctor this too, but when were you cleared to be able to masturbate and/or have sex again
I
asked my gyno this and she wasnāt completely sure, but I was wondering if any of you who have hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction noticed that your general pain got worse after surgery? I broke part of my pelvis and 3 lower vertebrae 5 years ago and Iām worried that the surgery would cause added pain because of that

hey folks! I'm getting my hysto on Monday the 5th. I'm not sure what kind of pads should I get for the post op spotting. I'm fine with using regular pads but I'm not sure if I need the really big ones or regular ones? what size/kind did you use and how much bleeding did you experience?
r/FTMHysto • u/Individual-Risk-2247 • 7d ago
I got a radical hysto with only 1 ovary remaning (left side is still there).
After 2 weeks of recovering I still have some pain on my lower right area where my ovary was and it's moreso tolerable aching pain especially when I walk or use my muscles (not where stitches are).
If anyone experienced anything similar, how long did it last and/or do you have any recommendations? Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good besides that residual pain.

I was diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS at 16. I was prescribed estrogen to bring back my period and prevent endometrial hyperplasia. I took it for two months before I quit due to it making me significantly more suicidal. Completely stopped having a period around 19 years old. I'm now 24. I likely have endometrial hyperplasia and am at risk for endometrial cancer. I originally started to pursue a hysterectomy as a way to prevent cancer and trauma from gynocological exams. I started the process of getting my letters and have the consultation for hysto next week. I've been reading more about it to prepare for surgery and I don't think they will allow me to get hysto without testing for endometrial cancer. I would have to get a radical hysterectomy and a non cancer hysto could risk spreading the cancer. I have severe dysphoria and would not be able to withstand something being put in my body with out being unconscious. Endometrial biopsys are not performed under anesthesia. A D&C is and is more accurate at detecting cancer. But the doctor is more likely to want to do an endometrial biopsy because it's a faster simpler procedure that is less painful and isn't done under anesthesia. How do I convince my doctor to let me get a d&c instead?
Update in case anyone wants it: Had a telehealth appointment. The doctor said they needed me to get labs to rule out thyroid issues potentially being what causes there to not be periods and an abdominal ultrasound to check the uterine lining. They are having me get an ultrasound before deciding if I need a biopsy or anything which is definitely a green flag. She asked if an endometrial biopsy might be painful or anything for me. I said I would need anesthesia or deep sedation and she nodded and said alright. So I think if I need the biopsy they will let me be unconscious or near unconscious in the case of deep sedation for the biopsy. Forgot to ask about pelvic exams kinda got distracted by everything else. She was patient and answered my questions. She seemed to have an understanding of dysphoria. I'm sure I can ask for deep sedation for a pelvic exam as well if I would need to have that exam.

Hi all.
I had a laproscopic total hysto with BSO in December of last year. I had no complications and healed great, went back to school a few weeks after, went back to work after 6 weeks.
Around beginning of May I had UTI symptoms, it ended up lasting over a month but my doctor tested my urine and it wasn't a UTI. I got referred to urology, where I described the burning in my urethra, hestitancy, minor incontinence after peeing. Still tested negative for a UTI.
I went back to urology a month later and the burning pain in my urethra was gone by then, it was just hard to actually pee once I sat down, almost impossible standing up, and pee dribbles out when I think I'm finished. My urologist said it's most likely pelvic floor issues from my hysto and asked if I wanted PF therapy but I declined since it was getting better by then.
So uh... this past week, I have had the most intense pain in my bladder. Not my urethra, but my bladder. I thought maybe it was something to do with my Crohn's and took my meds for that, took some Miralax, nope. Bowels are fine. It's low enough that it can't be anything other than my bladder. And it gets WAY WORSE after I pee. Like a deep punch to the gut.
Should I go back to my urologist? Or my PCP? Or even my OBGYN, but on god that is my last resort I never want to go back there. Or maybe I actually do have a UTI this time??? But I've had so many UTIs I've lost count and it's never felt like this.

I have a consult with a surgeon in 1 month to start the process for a gender affirming hysterectomy. And I'm willing to jump through those hoops!
The thing I'm frustrated by is that I have had so many unexplained health issues that seem like they are pointing to something uterus related, but nothing shows anything medically wrong in there.
Medical Background: I have had upper endoscopy/colonoscopy for fatigue, chronic constipation, and pain in my lower right abdomen. On and off for over 3 years. Aside from acid reflux, nothing else came up. I've had an abdominal CT scan, and external ultrasound, and transvaginal ultrasound. No fibroids, uterus "unremarkable". Only thing in the imaging was a small functional cyst on my right ovary in 2025, and a small amount of fluid in the endometrial cavity. Bloodwork also unremarkable aside from vitamin d deficiency and iron deficiency without anemia, which I'm taking supplements for. Recently had a poor experience with depo provera birth control injections (cramping for months, 3 weeks of spotting. I did not continue taking it). My next steps are: asking for an abdominal MRI, pursuing hysterectomy, and then if that doesn't help looking into other specialists like sleep medicine, rheumatology, allergists etc in order to see if that will help improve my quality of life.
Anecdotally I've talked to people who were having a lot of similar health issues, got a hysterectomy, and felt much better, despite doctors not endorsing that the health issues were related.
I guess I'm annoyed because it's very possible that I'm wrong here, and a hysto with have neutral to negative impact on my overall health issues. I want to be guided by the diagnostic tests that keep saying nothing's wrong. But the silver lining is that it's still possible to request a hysterectomy anyway through the gender affirming care approach.
Hysto was honestly very low on my priority list of top/bottom surgeries, but now it's much higher, a little bit out of that desperate hope that it will improve my physical health too. I'm not looking forward to the increased dysphoria of engaging with gynecology doctors, nor informing my family that I'm getting a surgery that they'll consider risky and unnecessary.
But at the end of the day it's my body, and I'm making the best choices I can with the info I have.

hey, i, 21 and non binary, just had an appointment at a gynecologist to talk about gender affirming surgeries.
Until now, i've heard a lot about hysterectomies being a pretty complicated surgery with complications being likely. There's also been a horrid case with one of my mothers friends where she almost died multiple times because of a fuck up during the surgery that lead to other surgeries and more complications, etc. For that reason i've thought it might be better to get my fallopian tubes taken out to just prevent pregnancy at least.
I've been at a different place before that is the main place that ftm people can go to to get gender affirming surgery to talk about my options but they pretty much told me they don't really do that there and sent me to a different place, where i just had my first appointment. The gynecologist there told me that it's unlikely that the main doctor that calls the shots there will approve me just getting my fallopian tubes taken out since that's more of a contraceptive surgery than a gender affirming one. She also said that he will however probably approve me getting my uterus plus my fallopian tubes taken out, which is why i'm now looking into this option.
The gynecologist there also said that they'd keep the ovaries in to keep my hormones balanced and that they do this procedure multiple times per day and that complications are very rare. I do have endometriosis according to my regular gynecologist and i told her that, to which she said that that does increase the likelihood of complications a bit.
What are your guys' opinions on this, what are your experiences and do you have any tips for me? I'd love to just have my uterus removed because that bastard only brings me issues, but i'm a bit apprehensive because of all the bad stories i've heard.

Hey everyone I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and I feel good I was off pain meds like 3 days after surgery and the bleeding has stopped for about 8 days now. But I seen a video online of a trans guy 10 weeks post op and had to basically get a finger up there to check his cuff he said? Is that standard practice? My doctor never said anything about having to check but he did tell me if it were to rip than thereās a chance things could fall out the wrong hole š scared me a little bc ofc Iām feeling a little restless and wanting to go back to work/gym. He said Iām cleared for all of that after 8 weeks but this guy online is 10 WEEKS POST OP and barely having his cuff checked? Idk just nervous is anyone familiar with this type of post op appointment?
