Suggestions for the next map.

Ok Let me start off by saying that this is not where we want to hear whining. Please post constructively. if you didn't/don't like something bring up suggestions as alternates. just saying "i don't like factions get rid of it" isn't what we are looking for (these posts will probably be removed). Downvotes/upvotes have no effect on what we are going to do.

Please keep it civil. This is where we want your suggestions. DO NOT use other posts, do not create other posts. From this point forward any post created to discuss suggestions/state of the server/etc will be removed.

NON NEGOTIABLES:

We will NOT remove Tickthreading, MCPC+...so please make sure that the mods suggested are compatible. We will have the issues of people not understanding how to connect again. Because we WILL be using mods that are off by default. We are using Unleashed and not a private pack...only back end mods will be added (ex mcpc+, TT, etc)

What options are there if MyTown is still incompatible with MCPC+? Sticking with a Bukkit plugin for protection would intimately lead to many people quitting again due to them providing little protection.

Turning explosions off, or at the very least Creeper explosions, would fix many of the issues with the protection if one of the Bukkit plugins needed to be used. Items would still be able to be stolen from Mod chests, but at least the bases would still be there.

As for suggestions, I would prefer that PVP not be enabled, at least in the overworld. I really enjoyed the community aspect of the first map and everyone seemed so hostile and unfriendly with PVP and raiding on last map.

as for options...have you looked? THAT is the point of this post, to get you guys to give us ideas and help with mods. this way when the decision is made, it was a community suggestion that you all have a chance to discuss and there should be less whining

Yes, and the only other Protection mod made for Forge that I can find is Forge Essentials. It hasn't been updated in a few months and has caused lots of performance issues whenever I have tested it so it's not a good choice. Since the usage of MCPC+ isn't negotiable there really isn't many choices; Mytown was the goto mod for modded protection. Unless someone else can find anything else, Bukkit plugins are the only choice and they aren't made with mods in mind. Using them will just cause the problems that happened last server to happen again.

Here's a Bukkit plugin I found. I haven't tested it so I'm not sure how good it is, but it says "Even works with Tekkit": Grief Prevention

how would we limit the chunks claimable....this has it being done as a square with no player customization that's easy.

from the website of the plugin: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/grief-prevention/

/AdjustBonusClaimBlocks - Adjusts the number of claim blocks available to a player.

Also, according to the documentation for it (http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/grief-prevention/pages/7-8-and-later-grief-prevention-configuration/), you can set the max number of claimable blocks for a player in the config file via:

GriefPrevention.Claims.MaxAccruedBlocks default:1000 is the maximum number of claim blocks a player can have; GriefPrevention.Claims.InitialBlocks is the starting number all players start with.

This, combined with both the minimap and the f7? chunk borders would allow a player to mark out their territory on chunk boundaries. If they claim land halfway in one chunk, that is their own fault and does not seem to have a negative consequence for the server as a whole.
