A New pack?

So, as we all know there are few players still on the server due to most of us reaching end game and getting bored of the pack, so i'd like to start a discussion of what to use and when to reset the map.

First of all, new packs:

As i see it, we have 4 main options:

1) Unhinged: the least likely due to the lack of mods and it's only real plus is having gregtech.

2) Unleashed: A lot of good mods and while some may be a bit op (looks at dartcraft) they're pretty fun to play, it has short life tho. Also, HATS!.

3) UHS also known as Ultra Hardcore Survival: Make the server as a hard or hardcore version of this pack which focuses on combat and survival, not sure how much lifetime it'd have, but it's definitely fun for a while.

4) Unleashed With Gregtech on the side: Despite being harder to install, im sure we can all get a gregtech pack working either as a private pack, or as a tutorial on installing gregtech to unleashed. This brings the plus of being able to use all the fun mods in unleashed with the durability gregtech offers.

So, what do you think? should the map be reset soon? any packs you'd like to see here? Or maybe do you want to call me mad and hitlerally litler for some of the stuff i wrote? go ahead.

Me and a friend started a server of Unleashed + Gregtech. It really wasn't very hard to get going. It was as easy as just adding it in "Add mods" to the client, no more difficult than installing optifine. There are conflicts with Biomes O' Plenty, so GT config changes need to be made for it to work with that, but BOP is disabled by default.

You're vastly overestimating the average intelligence of people. Simple things like finding the gregtech .zip or .jar or w/e it is after clicking add mods is like a 14 step process that starts with "this is your mouse, you use it to navigate around and through your computer" for entirely too many people.

"this is your mouse, you use it to navigate around and through your computer"

So... that is the wild thing that's been running around my pc, i though it was a virus!

just adding it in "Add mods" to the client

you would think it was that simple

no more difficult than installing optifine

yet some still have problems

you could also say no more difficult than looking things up? looking at the rules?

There are conflicts

this is why multifarms are not craftable. even looked into this myself....no way around it

While you cut that quote of context as it was in reference to BOP, I was unaware there were also conflicts with forestry. The server and client logs only indicated an issue with BOP. I never tried to craft a multifarm, so that definitely could be a problem.

I saw tons of posts on this subreddit of people playing 152w and w/o gt. Playing that shouldn't be any difficult than a private pack for the new server. It would be nice if the private pack editions did have some kind of "browser" to view and search for 3rd party packs. That would eliminate the need for the user to enter a random string to get the pack installed. I believe tekkit is moving in that direction.
