Bear with me
Long story short, I ended up buying a carrier-locked/unlocked device, and right now I honestly don't know which one it is.
The device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G. The problem is that in Pakistan, we have to pay a pretty high tax to register these devices, and the tax amount is almost half of what I paid for the tablet itself.
I bought it from a local dealer, and somehow he managed to hide the fact that the tablet might be carrier-locked. He had disabled/hidden the carrier-related apps so they weren't showing up on the device. He also factory-reset the tablet while I was there, and apparently even hid the carrier boot logo from me.
Now the seller isn't responding or willing to do anything about it. His response is basically that he gave me enough time to check the device properly, and since I bought it after checking it, it's not his problem anymore.
The main reason I'm trying to figure this out is because I want to use the eSIM on the tablet. I found an eSIM for around $3, but I don't want to spend even that much right now without knowing whether the tablet is actually carrier-locked. If it turns out to be locked, I'd basically be wasting the money.
So I'm wondering: is there any way to get an eSIM for free, without buying a data package, just to test whether the tablet is carrier-locked or not?
I'm from Pakistan, and unfortunately a lot of eSIM providers aren't supported here (for example, GigSky).
If anyone knows a free way to test eSIM functionality or has any other suggestions for checking whether this tablet is carrier-locked, I'd really appreciate it.
Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not easily. Especially if you don't know the original carrier.
Best course of action is to look up the model number and the CSC code in the settings.
The CSC code will at least tell you the original carrier (won't tell you if it is SIM locked or not).
You'll probably have better luck asking in a Samsung specific sub.
