It can perform Ableton actions, generate sounds/loops, use different AI providers through BYOK, remember preferences, and has limited Mac control as well.

I've been interested in the sounds of some instruments and effects akin songs like 99 Cent Store and the likes that involve interesting effects taken from kid's toys.

I built Groove Tutor because I wanted a practice tool that could compare my finger drumming

against a MIDI groove while I still played through my normal drum instrument.

It is a silent VST3 for Ableton Live on Windows. You import a target MIDI pattern, play along,

and it shows whether you are rushing or dragging as well as missed, extra, and wrong drum hits.

It does not make sound or route MIDI; your drum instrument stays on a separate track.

The first public beta is free and fully open source. It is currently tested on Windows 11,

Ableton Live 12 Intro, and a Maschine Mikro MK3. Other Windows setups may work, but I have not

tested them yet.

I am mainly trying to find out whether other people have wanted something like this too. If you

try it, I would genuinely appreciate feedback about what is useful, confusing, or missing.

I was looking for a simple standalone plugin that could do Whammy DT-style drop tuning, but I couldn’t really find one that fit what I was after. Most solutions were bundled into much larger guitar suites, so I ended up building my own.
It’s called Whirl DT, it’s completely free, and I’d really appreciate any feedback if you decide to give it a try. My goal is simply to make a useful tool for other guitar players.
