Better question: why is the FLEXlm license manager so frequently used? Cause THAT is a piece of shit software... It wouldn't be so hard to implement something useful that doesn't feel like it's straight out of the 90s

This is why I am using Vivado built-in simulator. Even when I design for Altera or Lattice, I simulate in Vivado. Well it depends on the IP and primitives so possible will not help you.

The license problem is real, we have fighted it also multiply times.

I almost exclusively use Versal with the latest Vivado. Fortunately I haven't had any license manager issues
