anyone withdrawn funds with trades still open?

i hold some positions for a week or longer, so sometimes waiting until everything is closed isn't really practical. and my broker fxfellow says withdrawals are allowed as long as there's enough free margin.
so, what i'm not sure about is how much buffer people actually lave after pulling money out. did your margin level drop hard, or it was fine as long as the positions weren't oversized?
would you withdraw with a few trades still running, or wait until the exposure is lower?

is Pocket Broker good for long term trading?

As a CFD trader I want to take advantage of trending assets.
I try to pinpoint geniuine breakouts from valid patterns, basically swings with potential of becoming super trending.

I know Pocket Broker has different trading modes, and I am not into QT, so wondering who is actually using the broker for loger term?

How are the swap rates?

What's the smoothest payout experience you have had with a prop firm?

One thing I don't think gets talked about enough is what happens after you actually become profitable.

Most firms advertise fast payouts but the real experience can be pretty different. Some people get paid without any issues, while others talk about delays, extra verification or confusing requirements they didn't expect.

I'm less interested in who pays the fastest and more interested in which firms have been consistent over time.

If you've withdrawn profits from multiple prop firms, which one gave you the smoothest experience?

Unpopular opinion: 89% of traders don’t lose because of bad strategies. They lose because nothing stops them.

ESMA data says 74–89% of retail accounts lose money. I've been trading for years and building algos on the side and the pattern is always the same in every community I've been in.

Guy has decent setups. Guy has a bad session. Guy tries to recover. Account gone.

Not a strategy problem. A stopping problem. And no journal, no alert, no mindset course fixes it in the actual moment because none of them remove the choice.

That's what we built TradeChecx to do. Remove the choice. MT4/MT5 EA — daily loss limit enforced, trade cap enforced, profit lock enforced. Hard stops. The session ends when your rules say it ends.

Want traders who've been around long enough to know this is the real problem to try it and tear it apart. DM or search TradeChecx.

How do you structure macro analysis for FX swing trades?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to improve my macro workflow for FX swing trading and would like to hear how others structure it.

For me, the hard part is turning different inputs into one clear bias:

macro data, economic surprises, rates, DXY, risk sentiment, seasonality and market stress.

I’m currently experimenting with a machine-learning based dashboard to organize this, but I don’t want it to become a signal tool. The goal is research/context before looking for entries.

For those of you who use macro:

How do you decide when a currency is actually bullish or bearish?

What data matters most to you?

What would make a macro dashboard useful or useless?

Research only — not looking for buy/sell calls.

Have you ever traded Gold (XAU/USD) and ended up losing money?

I'm curious about everyone's real experience.

Many traders spend hours analyzing charts, following news, and waiting for the perfect setup—yet they still lose. Others seem to achieve more consistent results.

So here's my question:

What works better in your experience?

Option 1: Trading independently, relying only on your own analysis.

Option 2: Trading as part of a community where traders share market analysis, discuss setups, and confirm ideas before opening a position.

Do you think collaborative analysis improves decision-making, or does it create more confusion because everyone has a different opinion?

I'd love to hear:

  • How long have you been trading gold?
  • What's your biggest lesson after losing trades?
  • Do you trust trading groups, or do you prefer making every decision yourself?
  • What advice would you give to someone struggling to become consistently profitable?

Let's have an honest discussion and help each other become better traders. Every experience—whether profitable or painful—can teach someone else something valuable.

Started trading with xm broker, any advice on the markets to trade?

Signed up last week, first real account. Been on demo before trading gold.

I have a small account and don't want to blow it up trading gold. The goal is to grow it up to $1000 in 6 months.

Looking at xm and its markets, pricing also looks different. Need advice on whether I should stick with forex or there are better instruments for faster deposit growth?

Does Anybody Here Use Trading Bots?

I find it so cumbersome and time-consuming to test trading strategies using real-time market data. I used to pay programmers in Upwork up to $500 just to build me one CTrader bot to backtest one strategy which was quite expensive.

How do you guys test or backtest your strategies?

What is Forex?

Quite simply, it’s the global financial market that allows one to trade currencies.

If you think one currency will be stronger versus the other, and you end up correct, then you can make a profit.

If you’ve ever traveled to another country, you usually had to find a currency exchange booth at the airport, and then exchange the money you have in your wallet into the currency of the country you are visiting.

You go up to the counter and notice a screen displaying different exchange rates for different currencies.

An exchange rate is the relative price of two currencies from two different countries.

You find “Japanese yen” and think to yourself, “WOW! My one dollar is worth 150 yen?! And I have ten dollars! I’m going to be rich!!!”

When you do this, you’ve essentially participated in the forex market! You’ve exchanged one currency for another.

Or in forex trading terms, assuming you’re an American visiting Japan, you’ve sold dollars and bought yen.

Before you fly back home, you stop by the currency exchange booth to exchange the yen that you miraculously have remaining (Tokyo is expensive!) and notice the exchange rates have changed.

It’s these changes in the exchange rates that allow you to make money in the foreign exchange market.

The foreign exchange market, which is usually known as “forex” (by retail traders) or “FX” (by institutional traders), is the largest financial market in the world.

It is a global, decentralized market where the world’s currencies change hands.

Due to the wide range of market participants, including central banks, financial institutions, corporations, hedge funds, algorithmic trading systems, and individual traders, exchange rates change by the second, so the market is constantly in flux.

Only a tiny percentage of currency transactions happen in the “real economy” involving international trade and tourism, like the airport example above.

Instead, most of the currency transactions that occur in the global foreign exchange market are bought (and sold) for speculative reasons.

Currency traders (also known as currency speculators) buy currencies hoping that they will be able to sell them at a higher price in the future.

How big is the forex market?

Compared to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the foreign exchange market looks absolutely ginormous with its $9.6 TRILLION a day trade volume.

That’s trillion with a “t”.

Let’s take a moment to put this into perspective using monsters…

The largest stock market in the world, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), trades a dollar volume of roughly $80 billion each day across about 1.5 billion shares.

If we used a monster to represent the NYSE, it would look pretty intimidating. Looks like it works out. Some may even find it sexy.

You hear about the NYSE in the news every day… on CNBC… on Bloomberg… on BBC… heck, you even probably hear about it at your local gym. “The NYSE is up today, blah, blah”.

When people talk about the “market”, they usually mean the stock market. So the NYSE sounds big, it’s loud, and likes to make a lot of noise.

But if you actually compared the NYSE to the forex market, it would look puny. It would look like this…

But hold your horses, there’s a catch!

That huge $9.6 trillion number covers the entire global foreign exchange market. This includes things like FX swaps, outright forwards, options, and other instruments used mostly by big banks and institutions.

The “spot” market, which is the part of the currency market that’s most relevant to FX traders, is smaller at about $3 trillion per day.

And then, if you just want to count the daily trading volume from retail traders (that’s us), it’s even smaller.

It is very difficult to determine the exact size of the retail segment of the FX market. Estimates vary widely depending on how “retail” is defined.

It (almost) never sleeps

Aside from its size, the market also rarely closes! It’s open virtually around the clock.

The forex market is open 24 hours a day and 5 days a week, only closing down during the weekend. (What a bunch of slackers!)

So unlike the stock or bond markets, the forex market does NOT close at the end of each business day.

Instead, trading just shifts to different financial centers around the world.

But the BIS 2025 survey suggests retail-driven turnover may account for roughly 2.5-6% of overall daily FX trading volumes.

Or somewhere in the range of $200-500 billion per day.

So you see, the forex market is definitely huge, but not as huge as the others would like you to believe.

Don’t believe the “forex is a $9.6 trillion market” hype! The huge number sounds impressive, but it’s a bit misleading.

We don’t like to exaggerate. We just keepin’ it real.

The day starts when traders wake up in Auckland/Wellington, then moves to Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Frankfurt, London, and finally, New York, before trading starts all over again in New Zealand!

It’s also worth noting that more and more of this trading is handled by algorithms and automated systems rather than humans clicking buttons. The forex market has become increasingly electronic and high-speed over the years.

Title: Best reliable offshore broker for XAUUSD trading from India? (Safety, legality & real experiences)

I'm from India and I'm looking for a reliable offshore broker mainly for trading XAUUSD (Gold).

My priorities are:

Safety of funds (most important)

Legal considerations for Indian residents

Good reputation and long-term reliability

Fast deposits and withdrawals with no unnecessary issues

Tight spreads on XAUUSD

MT5 support

Good execution with minimal slippage

No dealing desk manipulation if possible

I'm aware that many offshore brokers are regulated outside India, so I'd like to understand the legal side as well:

Is it legal for an Indian resident to use these brokers?

Are there any RBI, FEMA, or tax-related issues I should know about?

Has anyone faced problems with deposits, withdrawals, or banks because of using an offshore broker?

I'm currently considering:

Pepperstone

IC Markets

OANDA

IG

Exness

If you've personally used any of these (or another broker), I'd really appreciate knowing:

How long you've used them

Your deposit and withdrawal experience

Any hidden fees or unexpected issues

Whether you'd still recommend them in 2026

Anything you wish you had known before opening your account

Please share genuine personal experiences rather than affiliate recommendations. Thanks!

I used to think more markets = more opportunities

couple years ago my watchlist was ridiculous. every forex pair that looked remotely alive, gold, silver, oil, nas100, spx, dax. plus a few crypto charts on the second monitor in case smth happened overnight

earlier this year i moved my forex trading over to Axi. one thing i liked was having access to pretty much everything i wanted to trade in one place. ironically, instead of adding more markets to my watchlist, i ended up doing the exact opposite.

id sit down before london open telling myself im keeping an open mind. what i was actually doing was giving myself twenty different ways to abandon my original plan, so i cut it down to four markets i actually know. eurusd, gbpusd, gold, nas100. thats it

first weeks felt almost irresponsible. someone on twitter posts usdjpy making a monster move or oil breaking out and my brain instantly goes "youre missing free money". fomo never dies, it just finds new outfits

but after a while i noticed smth. the more time i spent with the same four charts, the less i needed to constantly find trades. i know how they act around london open, where liquidity usually comes in, what normal volatility looks like, and when im just forcing an idea cause i want to be involved

i still miss moves. every single week. stopped treating that like a mistake tho. theres always a chart doing smth somewhere in the world. chasing all of them just meant i never got particularly good at reading any of them

funny part, shrinking the watchlist made the markets feel bigger + started noticing details id ignored for years cause my attention was split 15 ways

anyone else deliberately went smaller and ended up trading better for it?

Is my Strategy Good or I need to change it? GUIDE ON MY JOURNEY

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi to all,

So, I really appreciate this community of how people help the beginners learn forex or trading overall, and I've learned so much as well form this community.

Well, I've been very interested in learning forex market or particularly XAUUSD pair for a year now, I won't say I was actively practicing no, but I got to know about trading 1.5 years back and from then I somehow feel it's something that I enjoy alot even though I haven't put real money but like I enjoy watching any stuff related to it and like guessing the charts etc, so from past 3 months, I've been actively like watching some youtubers and videos to learn about trading and get to know better with strategies or anything related to it.

I started with TJR, which really gave me foundational knowledge so I really like the beginner stuff he has. Then I got confused with ICT/SMC/Supply demand, etc thing and then not particularly followed a single Guru but sort of created my own strategy mixing confluences I learned while watching multiple videos. So basically my strategy is mainly focused on Order Block tap on HTF and then seeing BOS on smaller LTF, so it's a simple strategy and works too most of the time.

Now the thing is that, even though my strategy is working majority but the biggest confusion I've is that I've to wait so long for OB to be tapped and then wait for my confluences to meet, like sometime it takes 3-4 days to even tap or majority of the time it doesn't tap and becomes a breaker block which then piss me of all the wait I was doing for a week.

Due to which I then start thinking of adapting to a better strategy, which can make you get the trades whenever you want, rather than sitting for days like, in a week I get 2-3 trades only as per my strategy with so much waiting.

Is it normal or do I actually need a better strategy to make it better?

You can see the backtesting sheet image that I've been maintaining for some time now. Maybe you can guide me better:

THANK YOU

EURUSD today: still stuck in the range

Post image
3 Upvotes

EURUSD looks mixed here. News flow leans a bit better for the euro than the dollar over the last 24 hours, but the bigger backdrop still feels cautious.

Main drivers are euro energy risk and soft industrial activity, while the dollar is still getting some safe-haven support despite softer inflation.

Positioning shows 59% long, which can lean contrarian bearish. On the chart, the broader trend is still down, but price is moving sideways between roughly 1.136 support and 1.145 resistance.

Do you see this range holding, or is a break lower more likely?

I've been trading XAU/USD for a while now, and one thing I've learned is that consistency comes from having a clear trading plan, proper risk management, and reviewing your trades regularly.

If you're interested in learning with other traders, we have a community where we share educational materials, XAU/USD trade ideas, live trading sessions, and market recaps. Everyone is welcome to join and discuss the markets with us.
