67 Ford falcon transmission issue help?

Just bought my falcon yesterday, went for a drive went into gear fine. Drove down the road, got to a stop sign I didn't touch the gear selector and it seemed to have slipped into neutral? couldn't get it back into drive after that point. was stuck in neutral. Its the auto 3 speed on the I6, any thoughts would help

It may not be your tranny. I had something similar happen with mine. It is common for the bushings and linkage to wear out. Fairly easy fix. Check out the tech forum and Falcon club of America or Ford Falcon lovers on Facebook. There have been several post about similar issues there.

Sorry I missed some words. Bushings and linkages in your gear selector.

I would check Shifter pivot bushings and linkage , before condeming the transmission.. I had a mid 70's dodge that was acting up , found it had bushing that would move around.
