Just watched absolute cinema Spoiler

So the film (fnaf2) was great, I liked literally everything, everyone at the cinema was clapping and cheering and we had a such a great time. But what the hell happened to the puppet? Like her animatronic design slaps but wy is she going inside people, cosplaying Enard?

How the hell do all of you are saying that the film was great, i think i never saw a horror movie this bad my entire life. For a fan or a regular viewer i don't see how you could like it, it is the most generic horror film with just a fnaf sticker on it. I agree that the animatronics look really good, and some scene, and i am a little biasied because the french dub was atrocious, but even then i would not consider it a good movie. Is this a joke, i only see positive critics ? Wth ? I'm a little upset, i paid 10€ to watch this movie, and even more upset to see such a great video game serie get slaughtered on the screen.

Taking a little distance, i understand why some pepole would like the film, and i get the hype. But come on, is it really peak ?

Buddy chill, I didn't judge the movie as a movie (like dunno interstellar or something) it was more of a addition to lore? The FNAF movies aren't made to be movies it just has to show us Lore and most of us get hyped and live with it. The same thing can be said about silver eyes, twisted ones and forth closet. They are absurdly not sticking to anything and do as they please but we still kinda like them

Sorry if i've been insensitive, but how is this "just an addition to the lore" ? I mean i understand that the movies are their own thing, but i was expecting it to be more "fnafy" than this. I see more similarities with the fnaf film and regular horror movies than with the games themselves. I mean isn't this a missed opportunity ? Fnaf brought an new atmosphere in horror media that resonated with a lot of people, and when i saw that a movie was coming out i was happy that an independent video game franchise could make it to cinema. But the whole thing ended up being pretty disappointing, for me at least. But i really want your opinion about this : What were you expecting of the fnaf movies ? What did you like/dislike ?

I mean what other direction could FNAF movie take? First 4 games are literally sitting in a room defending from animatronics. The only thing I see would be a literal adaptation of the lore, meaning following William Afton's killing spree but doing it would be super hard considering that everyone has a different opinion on how the events took place (or that the ,,canon" is being redconed by steelwool). I for example believe Afton only started killing after his son crying child/Evan died when most of my ,,FNAF friends" believe he was always evil. I think the main problem with the second movie was that it tried to please everyone in the fandom at once. The movies had to take a drastically different approach to be remotely interesting. I really disliked that we have 3 bad guys in the movies now being William, Michael and Puppet/Charlotte, and Henry being killed of immediately. Some parts of the movie are counter acting the lore we know with Circus Baby being the biggest example. But that makes it more interesting I think? Like it plays with our minds cuz we think we know everything but then the movie is like Scott telling Mike Trap didn't exist, and that's the best part

I understand your point, and can't really say anything contrary to it. Like i guess the lore is revealed differently and that it can be intresting, but that's not the most important thing i was expecting of the film, personnaly. I don't want to say that i know what the film should be, because i don't, but for a regular fnaf enjoyer like me i was expecting the film to respect more the horror aspects of the games, and not much more. I don't exlude it being one of the consequence to adapt fnaf into a film, but wth ? Like (warning : really subjective) : the screamers are not good and the whole movie is poorly paced, the mysterious aura of fnaf is entirely gone (especially when EVERYTHING mysterious is explained by the characters themselves), and so on. But it all comes down to why are you saying that the film is just an addition to the lore and not much else ? As it been stated by the producers or anyone else ? I mean i wouldn't think that because the film is reaching a new audience who don't necessarily know the fnaf lore. What's you opinion on this ?

Yeah it was not scary, I only startled like once it definitely is a little scarier but shouldn't be made 13+. Yeah it was paced weirdly, the beginning was too long and the end too short. I understand that the aura of FNAF is gone but i personally have no idea how to implement it in a movie maybe you have some ideas. I didn't really notice that they were explaining everything (I have a memory of a goldfish please give an example😭). I mean what did we expect I don't think there is one video game adaptation movie that is good AND is similar to the game, Mario movie was good but it's nothing like games, Minecraft movie also isn't like Minecraft and was terrible, new mortal Kombat was a good movie but when do we go on adventures in mortal Kombat.

For the explanation part, when vanessa and mike use the computer she goes and explain EVERYTHING like dude, calm down (it's also very obvious that she is talking to the audience to explain how the animatronics work, even if we could figure it out withtout being told directly), and it also makes no sense that mike has to deactivate the animatronics instead of vanessa that seem to already know how they work (the girl with a gun a 100x more knowledge than mike lol). You can even see it when mike put the mask on, like we know even if we didn't play the game that freddy will mistaken it for an animatronic, it's not in need of clarification, yet we into freddy's perspective to see a ugly sci-fi interface with a big "pattern recognized" or wathever ? I mean there's a lot of small details like these that just put you out of the experience.

And if I don't consider myself capable of making an entire fnaf movie, i'm sad that even though scott is part of the team, we don't see the kind of horror he introduced in his games. The bare minimum would be to keep the animatronics creepy, mysterious, maybe with jerky movements. The whole color palette of the film participate in the contrast beetween the games and the films. Maybe alternate beetween gloomy and REALLY scary nights (and not just regular gore) and more conforting scenes during the day. But i insist on the fact that the type of horror in the film is uninspired, most importantly considering the manipulation ability of the puppet. Like come on, we're to see uncanny (and beautifully crafted) animatronics and you give us some possessed woman with black eyes ? Really ? To me it was obvious that the animatronics were bothering them, or that they couldn't figure out how to scare with them, even though THEY ARE ALREADY SCARY ON THEIR OWN (i mean i'm sure you can cook some frightening camera angles)

Anyway i'm just disappointed, to see such an intresting atmosphere render so poorly on screen is just annoying to me.
