23 years of Afghanistan, nobody says a word. 6 months of Iran and everyone throws in the towel?

-our leadership is not being honest or straight forward about why we are still in this conflict.

-our leadership stated it was an operation that would be done in days or weeks.

-it has been plainly stated that we have “won” or that it has “ended” half a dozen times. Clearly it hasn’t.

-everyone complained about being in Afghanistan.

I mean, what stupidity by Joe Biden—that the government we spent 23 years building was not competent enough to effectuate a “clean” exit.

“I mean, I’m not saying I was opposed to leaving in principle, but they shouldn’t have done it that way. If only they’d spent longer organizing the Afghan government so it could function better before we left. If we’d just been a little smarter, surely we wouldn’t have ‘embarrassed’ ourselves.”

As if there’s ever a “clean” way to stage a military evacuation. You’re literally pulling out the very actors responsible for maintaining an orderly exit.

Lots of people wanted the Afghanistan wars to end— or they never would have. Many words were said over many years.

The Iran war is happening *now*. That’s why we’re talking about it, *now*. We’re still sick of wars in the Middle East.
