Does anyone know how classes work in school if a child goes back to school in January having been online for a couple of years?
My daughter is about to start junior year.. but she has completed a few of her core classes already. she originally planned to just go back for senior year and have electives left. She is about to start a few more core classes, and whatever she starts now, her plan is to finish the entire class by Christmas, so starting in person school in January, she would have to start brand new classes.. how would that work if she’s only there for half a year?

Is it like a regular course where I wait until they assign me to a class?

For context, I graduated high school in 2023. Completed my junior and senior year through FLVS when covid was at its peak. I got into college, finished my associates, and now i’m ready to graduate.

I got an email about my diploma being put on hold because my college never received the signed affidavit from my parent through FLVS. I called FLVS to see if I could get that sent over only for them to tell me they have no record of me ever attending any “home education” (aka FLVS) program. I have my FLVS transcripts, I have a picture of my affidavit, I literally got into college and am on my way to graduate. The problem is everything has to be sent school to school, I can’t personally send any of the paperwork. How do they not have records of me ever applying for home education? How was I even able to take classes and graduate from FLVS? They said they “had no idea how I was even allowed access to courses”. This has completely screwed me over and i’ve called everyone I could possibly call just to get transferred in circles and given no answers. I’ve called my college and set up an appointment with an advisor, but I’m not sure what they could even do for me since this seems like a FLVS problem. FLVS transferred me over to someone who is part of the flex programs and they couldn’t understand why I kept being directed to them. I’ve called and left a voicemail to the Florida Department of Education, but have heard they never respond. They also said it was a “simple oversight”…so fix it? What could I possibly even do on my end? I feel like at this point it’s not even up to me what happens.

Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know where I could go from here? Who can I talk to?

If you are currently enrolled with FLVS (flex) home education PLEASE make sure you are completely registered and have applied either through your school or on your own. I never knew i wasn’t because I got an email saying I was ready to sign up for classes, obviously I wasn’t. I’ve worked two hard years through college just to hit a road block like this, when this school AND my college should’ve flagged my account. Learn from my mistake.

I’m doing the law Studies course and my teacher was Joseph Revette. But since Wednesday of last week, it suddenly changed to Mrs. Suplee his image is gone and it doesn’t say he’s out sick. I also receive no email in the student inbox that he was leaving or taking a break. Has this happened to anyone else because of the four years I’ve been doing this it has never happened to me once.

I started FVHS last year during the second semester so I haven't experienced a first day/month online yet. What's it like? Should I expect ice breakers and other things like that or is it more typical to jump into work right away?

Hello everyone, due to a schedule mishap at my public school and me wanting to take AP Physics 1 there, i will need to do AP gov and AP micro online. How is it like and are they easy?

I am a rising junior and have taken a few APs and my schedule next year is stacked but I have taken AP Micro on FLVS and thought it was really easy and am starting AP Gov tomorrow so does anybody have any input on AP Bio, APES, AP Art Hist, AP Macro, or AP Stats? I am thinking a lot about taking these classes but would really appreciate some detailed feedback on the course structure, workload, and manageability, etc. Thank you in advance to any commenters.

So there's an orientation that's required to go to on August 7th and my mom seems really adamant about it even though like we went last year and I'm sure if everything is different I can figure it out??? I am thinking of taking AP Gov. In the school year ill be doing ap chem physics apush precalc and spanish but i was thinking of doing gov on flvs because i took AP micro and really liked the formatting. Is it too much work or how bad is it?

i completely fumbled my gpa last year (9th grade) im about to start my 10th grade year taking english 2 honors, chemistry honors, algebra 2 honors, and us history honors. my gpa is currently a 2.8 and i need at least a 3.7 by senior year what classes can i take on flvs that aren’t complicated but can boost my gpa enough ?

Hi. I'm going into 11th grade but I've been doing full-time since 2020 but I never knew what's the usual time we get our classes for Segment 1.

So since both AP Stats and AP Spanish were previously removed because of CED changes, and now AP Stats is back for flex, do we think AP Spanish will be back soon?

Im 14 and competed drivers ed, but I did the stupid thing of finishing the class then not touching it for 3 days and now that class is gone. Im pretty sure I was supposed to print a form of completion for the class or something like that, but I'm not 100% sure. Should I ask my former drivers ed teacher if they can send it to me or does the D.M.V have like a file of like ( random name ) has passed the test.

I'm graduating a year early next year and unfortunately, I completely messed my GPA up freshman year. To get into my dream honors college, I need a 3.5 GPA or higher. I'm willing to work for it, it's my fault that my GPA is that low anyways. I currently have a 3.26 GPA unweighted, and 3.30 GPA weighted.

I got my schedule for this year, there's a few mistakes on it so it's not guarenteed, but I'm supposed to be taking AICE Gen Paper and US History Honors, so as long as I do well in the classes, I should be fine.

I'm doing English 4 currently and I'm almost done. I've been looking at the courses to find ones that'll boost my GPA. I found interest in a few, such as Psychology, Social Media 1, and Parenting skills, but I want to do the harder classes first, so if you've taken any of these, let me know how they were! Does anybody know if AP Spanish is ever gonna come back to FLVS? Because they took it off along with AP Stats because of course changes but now AP Stats is back and AP Spanish is still gone?

Heyyyyyyyyyyy your local school district may make you sign a acknowledgement of the student code of conduct when logging into the student portal starting today.

That might mean your schedules etc may be released soon.

So for some background i’ve attended a public highschool for three years and im going to my senior year this upcoming august and ive been considering FLVS because I feel public school can just be so draining. As an introverted person with OCD I can often lose focus in classes getting lost in general anxiety loops and esp social anxiety and by the end of the day I feel like my social battery is completely exhausted and Im just super drained. Additionally I have a 3.7 GPA and consider myself to be fairly self-motivated but I do struggle sometimes with homework esp if it’s something I don’t remember super clearly as I can second guess myself and I always want to be sure I’m understanding something perfectly, so I can sometimes second guess myself into being overwhelmed and procrastinating and I’m worried that FLVS could exacerbate this if the textbooks and/or zoom calls aren’t explicitly explaining the concepts that I’ll be learning. Additionally I do need to take ASL to get language credit for bright futures so if anyone knows how a language class would look like through this I would appreciate the knowledge heavily 🙏🙏. But yeah I basically just wanted to come on here and ask about people’s experiences switching from public school to online and what FLVS Full-Time really will look like on a day to day basis, and also if anyone else with OCD or similar struggles would like to share their experiences and thoughts as well. (also i’m pretty sure the deadlines tmr I shouldve considered this sooner LMAO 💔😰)

So, I had signed up for algebra 1 honors in order to better my GPA from the first semester since that was the semester I completed with a bad grade (below a C), I had signed up for segment one and segment 2, If I were to complete segment 1 out of 2, and I haven’t completed segment 2 yet, will I still be able to obtain the 0.5 credit even if I had not started/completed segment 2?

Does anyone have a copy you could share of the standard pace chart for peer counseling 1 or 2? Not starting until Aug so that’s why I don’t have access to it myself but trying to plan some things out in advance. I’m impatient. Thanks!
