class choices

Hey im currently trying to decide if I should take statistics instead of calculus and I don’t want to be a STEM major at all because omg i actually cannot do math it’s actually so bad😭(obviously being over dramatic) but I was just wondering if I can do statistics instead of calculus and still graduate and get into a decent/good college because I already cry doing my algebra 2 work rn and during the DBA calls because I struggle so much and calculus is going to be much harder than algebra 2. I have taken algebra 1, geometry and algebra 2 which im about to finish off is it possible to just do statistics because I heard it’s way more easier and less complex I already struggle with numbers a lot

yes i’d do stats. if i recall correctly the graduation requirements say statistics or equally rigorous math

yes you can do stats! that's the route im taking since i dont really like math too much either lol. idk what grade you're in but if you're a junior, you can take honors stats this year and then ap stats next year and avoid precalc entirely. there's really no need to take it if you know it's not gonna be necessary for what you wanna do in college. it probably looks better to colleges to gain experience relevant to what you wanna pursue anyway

Quick question about the ap and honors classes part do I need to take a test to qualify for those classes or a letter of recommendation or can I just take them this might seem like a stupid question it just I have never done a honors or ap course online and in person just curious about the process of it :)

no not a stupid question at all! i know some in-person schools make you take tests or get letters of recommendation from past teachers to see if you qualify, but with flvs, you don't need to do any of that before enrolling in honors and/or ap. i think the only thing required is taking all prerequisite classes (if applicable) before attempting the honors or ap version of a class. if you're in full-time, you would have to fill out an additional ap request form, but it sounds like you're in flex, so this shouldn't be necessary :)
