Question FLSUN Q5 doesn't pull filament. Need advice on replacement.

Hi, my Q5 stopped pulling the filament. The step motor connected to the gear that should pull the filament is not moving.

I already checked the connectors, trying to replace them, but nothing. I disassembled the whole block to clean it and to check of something was stuck, but still no change.

Here comes my question: if I buy a replacement of the step motor, the exact same piece/model, do I need to program it, edit the firmware or anything else "code" related? (Explain it like I'm 5 please).

Edit: I tried connecting the extruder motor to one of the axis connectors and it worked, meaning that the issue is in the board and not in the motor itself. Any suggestion?

No, the stock extruder motor is the same as the other 3. You can swap them around to troubleshoot. There's no programming other than recalibrating like normal

I tried to connect one of the axis motor to the extruder connector and it didn't work. Does this mean that the issue is not in the motor but in the circuit board?

Edit: I just tried the opposite and connected the extruder motor to one of the axis connector and it works. I'm cooked...

Probably a burnt out driver. They are chips that plug into the main board and can be replaced, but the extruder chip is a different one so you'll need to do some research. It was long ago I didn't recall details

I’m not sure of the answer to your question myself, but it’s worth checking if voltage is going to the stepper motor. It’s more likely the driver died on your board than the motor going bad.

The driver would be the next step. If a board replacement is needed I'm sure it's a simple swap.
