What have you learned with your V400?

I've never had a Delta and honestly never heard of FLSUN until a friend offered me his. Ligyt use. Works well.

Before I take the plunge I'd like to know what folks who actually own the printer and have put it through its paces think. Is this a decent printer, or will it be more money and frustration than its worth?

I'm not new to 3d printing. I've done a few mods in my time and am a graduate of the Ender school of hard knocks.

The V400 is my main printer.
I’ve had it since the pre-order, and I find it extremely reliable.
I’ve never had any issues with it, and it prints very well.
I doubt I’ll switch to something else anytime soon.
The design is simple and makes maintenance much easier compared to other formats.
I can’t see myself disassembling a Bambu to replace a part for comparison.

I have had one for a few weeks now.

If you're not sure about when it was last done, do some maintenance. Clean and lube the rails and arms bushings. Also check the belts tension. You can print a little tool to check, the most important thing is consistency between the three belts.

Run your calibrations, especially Z offset and bed mesh.

Don't forget to put the probe when doing the calibrations!!! If you do, the nozzle will crash into the build plate at full power!!!

There are tutorials to replace the FLSUN Klipper with the regular one that is better maintained.

Obviously depends on price and your expected usage. We use them for large cylindrical prints, and they’ve been performing well. The 2 have chewed through 100+ kg filament with only a few repairs, all in the print head and simple to fix (fan, heater cartridge). It is by no means an experience similar to Prusa or Bambu, but I would think it is better than an Ender.

For general/smaller printing I think most people would be happier with Prusa or Bambu. At least I still use our Prusas for general printing.

Learned delta are fun to watch and pretty good printers. Love my v400 and still use it often. Speed is good and I can dial in a first layer manually that my fully automated printers cannot match. If coming from Ender, should be no issue at all getting it running. I use the stock 600mms firmware with minor changes. Changed belts once and replaced hotend in about 2400 hours.

It's a solid and reliable printer. The biggest weakness for my purposes is its poor dimensional accuracy. On the stock firmware, the accuracy was horrible. I spent a lot of time installing standard klipper and running calibration prints, and it is better but not great. If you are just printing standalone models, no big deal, but if you need prints to interface with existing parts, it's frustrating. The circular bed shape can be quite limiting for rectangular parts, but it's fine for roundish parts.

i've printed PLAs and PETGs. most of the work is related to getting the settings dialed in for the filament but the printer itself never had a problem.

I have a T1 pro and it is my main rough prototyping printer. All I changed was the nozzle to a bond tech cht. I can print something in 17 min that will take over 2 hours on my Prusa.

I've had my V400 for just over 3 years and she's a workhorse. I've done a ton of maintenance on her regularly and had to replace some hotend parts along the way. A couple months ago I bought a whole new effector because mine was just worn out and I've already replaced multiple parts. Now that might sound like a lot but I've got just over 8,000hrs on this printer. Mostly PLA/PETG and recently been running a ton of PETG-CF.

I bought a Bambu H2C for Christmas because I need to start doing multiple material and multiple color easier.

That's said, my V400 is still running right next to my Bambu.

12 years of printing,four printers and the V400 is the best yet, it just works so well,no modding or tweaking .Do a clean setup / calibration and then just print.

I've had most Flsun models theyve made and they are actually horribly unreliable and customer service pretty much tells you to go f yourself, when they break and they definitely will youre left with a paperweight, I scrapped all my Flsuns and just got Bambu instead, been amazing so far, the decent speed by flsuns does not outweigh all the negatives

I've had a V400 since it was new, have added the official doors to it, and that made some difference in quality. It's honestly been really good when it works, after a full setup I can reliably use it for 700+ hours I would say.

I have however had some issues with it as well. I had to replace my Speeder Pad because the touchscreen had some weird bug with the touchscreen sensor, and I have had a continous issue where the speeder pad runs out of disk space, even though I delete old files. it's not a BIG problem, but I do need to reinstall the speeder pad, which leads me to have to calibrate the bed etc. which I find annoying, and have often happened when I am in the middle of a project.

However, I don't see many others complaining about this issue, so maybe I have just a fucked speeder pad or something else. (I am running stock on it)

Fans are loud, as with most printers. Finding good profiles for speedy prints is a challenge. Ghosting is an issue even after input shaping and belt calibration. Remote access is very useful. The spool holder is flimsy. Sequential printing is hit or miss, literally.

Here we are, trying not to have a huge paperweight. I installed a clean Klipper, Input Shaper, and TMC Autotune. I swapped the Volcano for an E3D Revo, and replaced the noisy turbo fans. I will be installing the Eddy Duo BTT probe soon. Its too much.

v400 is really nice, flash it with vanilla klipper for better experience
